Evening all! My 5 for today:

    1. Unleashing my inner domestic goddess and making a batch of burgers this morning.

    2. Yummy, cheap and filling felafel lunch down by the docks with my friend.

    3. Walking in the sunshine after lunch with my friend and enjoying the interesting and picturesque dock area.

    4. Having another soup night this evening - I still felt full after lunch (and it was only one of their small felafels!), so soup, roll and yoghurt was ideal.

    5. Managing to snip most of the knots out of the fur of one of my new foster cats without getting a mauling. There's one big one left, which I'm saving up for later when she's calmed down a bit.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

My 5 for the last few weeks, today and tomorrow:

    - catching 30 mins in the sun today lying outside on a furry blanket with my two pillows whilst my OH was climbed all over by the boys. My two dogs joined me in the sun too - pure utter bliss. :):):):):)
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Evenin all!
as always lovely to read about everyones day - good and bad, my thoughts are with those who are poorly, or have poorly loved ones / friends Big huggles xxx

    1) so as always, I go out to feed the girls this afternoon, and the usual scramble / fly / hop towards the fence ensues. It usually results in 14 hens pressed up against the mesh having flown into it HOWEVER! Paris today, overshot / misjudged the height and landing gear... she landed ON TOP of the fence... after almost a minute of gaining her balance on the wire, wings flapping everywhere, she then realised her predicament, she had no idea how she got up there, and even less how to get down... I offered my arm, but that resulted in more wing flapping and loss of balance as she tried to step onto it. Once I stopped giggling, I walked around to the gate and opened it (yes I know, I should never have let them out of their 80m run in the first place!) and paris was still contemplating which way was best. Eventually she manouvered herself back inside the pen, only to make her way to the gate, and end up exactly where she had been but on the outside of the fence!

    2) Eddie (another hen!) also decided to follow me on my walk down to the burn to wash out the food tray and refill the water tub. She proceeded to tell me all about how I wasnt doing it right, I wasnt with the pack etc. until I got out of the burn and back to dry land! ( I actually think her concern was more for the food tray than my safety but hey ho!)

    3) its been a mix of weather, but the rain has bought with it that fresh smell that you get when its been dry, and you need the earth to dampen off. Smells lovely :)

    4) Had a bit of a giggle with some regular customers. I often experiment on them, and sent out a take on bread and butter pudding but like a steamed version of HFW one with breadcrumbs. So they tried it, and loved it, and Willie said he wondered how I did my steaks... So to call his bluff we sent out a steak knife and I did a mini version using an offcut, 6 chips, a cherry tomato and a tiny mushroom - I guess it was a had to be there moment, but made them and me giggle! He then asked where his starter was, as he had had dessert and main, so I sent out a tin of my weight watchers soup :D

Cant think of more atm, will pop back if I do! I have been working all day, but I am sure I can find a 5th!

    Take care

    1. My Dig-in seeds arrived.

    2. Lovely sunshine again today.

    3. Finished my blue and white 'ripple' baby blanket which now awaits the arrival of a baby boy.

    4. A lovely long afternoon nap.

    5. Tidying out my craft stash and finding I have lots of bits to use in card making and finding lots of inspriration too.

    Bella.

    Hi all

Very tired tonight so only a quick update of my daily pleasures:

1 - Breakfast in bed courtesy of DH (an easy peasy one, defrosted readymade pancakes - they had a yellow sticker! Would NOT buy them otherwise! - quickly warmed up in the oven and filled with my homemade plum jam).

2 - Glorious, lovely, warm sunshiny day.

3 - Walking to buy the Sunday paper I met a woman I know who complimented me on my looks and said that I have lost weight. Made my day!

4 - Lots of gardening done, seeds in trays, plants in pots, now all ready for the growing season!

5 - 3 lots of laundry done and dried!

6 - A friend came visiting while I was doing the gardening and we had a cup of tea and biscuits together.

7 - DD made dinner, Pappardelle with Pesto (M&S deal!) and mixed salad.

I really need to go to sleep now, lots of love to all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Evening eveyone,

mine for the last couple of days:

    Saturday:
    1. Catching the bus to the station rather than getting a taxi. Saved over £10 by doing this
    2. Free cup of tea on the train. Plus uneventful train journey this time.
    3. Seeing my DD again after 2 weeks. She even smiled at me (she's 14 and we don't see a smile too often at the moment)
    4. Taking my great neice and nephew to the park with DD and parents dog.
    5. Couple of glasses if wine with one of my brothers

    Sunday
    1. Enjoying an hour with my dad this morning at we were the first two up plus he cooked me a lovely breakfast. I love his poached eggs.
    2. Lots of cuddles with their dog and thenn taking him for a walk later.
    3. Not a pleasure as such but dad had a fall today, the pleasure is he didn't doo any serious damage just a few bruises.
    4. Dad giving me some money for my birthday which is at the end of the month so I think I am going to use it to buy a bread maker
    5. Coming home and putting a chicken into roast so we didn't resort to takeaway.

Hugs to all who need them especially mineallmine (I already take anything we no longer need to cancer research as it is a charity close to my heart as well)

    5 for today!

    1) Lovely, sunny day once again.

    2) Boys played really well together, doing "archaeology" in the garden (i.e digging), on the scooters and so on.

    3) Sister came over in tears. No, that's not a pleasure, but I was glad that she felt she could. This is a problem for another thread but she broke up with her boyfriend 3 years ago and just can't forget him and it still holding out for him to "change". I just don't know how to help her but I don't think meeting up and phoning him all the while is helping.

    4) Went swimming with my sister, the boys and my brother.

    5) School friend came for tea and we watched the Restoration Man (or whatever its called!)

    6) Going to go to bed in a minute and listen to the Archers on iplayer.

Have sent Ollie a pm letting her know we're missing her, no reply yet but will let you know if/when I hear

A long day so a short post
    1. Visited DM today, traffic was horrendous on all 3 M/ways (families returning from Easter break) but moving
    2. A very cheap lunch out, DM has a tiny appetite so has the childs roast which includes a soft drink which I have, I choose the adult one which includes an alcoholic drink which DM has. It works for us :D
    3. We strolled round the shops and street market after lunch and I didn't buy anything!
    4. Phoned DM to let her know I was home safely, and to thank her for the pork and Stilton pie she'd slipped into my bag :D
    5. Drove home in daylight, well it was dusk when I arrived, in time to water the garden and watch A Passionate Woman

    Night night, sweet dreams

    Morning All,

Missing Ollie. Thanks for sending a PM Sparrer. Hope all is OK. (DM and DS2 usually do a swap with the chiilds meal when we take her out. It's a great idea!)

My thoughts are also with those who are poorly, or have loved ones / friends who are poorly.

    5 for yesterday

    1. DD came back from a sleepover at her freinds house and was nice to me all day! Can't understand the change in attitude, but not complaining!:)
    2. Popped into town to get DH another little present, and do some printing on his printer at work as ours has run out of ink. Fools errand! No luck on the present and couldn't get the printer to work. But nice spending an hour just the two of us.
    3. DS2 last swimming lesson. He enjoyed it so much he stayed in for the second session.
    4. Two of DS2 friends came along to watch, but got bored after the first session. so we went for a walk around the Uni sports centre. (Know it too well, as DD used to do gymnastics there 3-4 times a week!). They have replaced the sprung floor in the gym, and there was a notice up that the plywood boards were free to anyone and huge piles of sponge lying around. I have just paid £5.99 for some sponge to make a stool, but need more for the other one. So we asked permission to take some and had great fun taking it down to the car. Found a hula hoop next to the bins and an excercise mat as well! Start them young on the OS way:rotfl:(Got the number to see if school want the wood and some old gym mats too).
    5. DH wanted us all to have a meal together as its his birthday today. Don't usually manage this with all the comings and goings of DD and DS1, but it was lovely to all sit down together and be nice to each other. :A

Have a lovely day in the sunshine. I probably won't see much, as my first job will be to selotape bin bags to the classroom windows! Someone pulled down the blinds and you can't see the interactive whiteboard in the sunlight.:(, so enjoy the sunshine for me!:)

    Morning all,

Thanks for all the messages and hugs, so appreciated. Sadly my dear friend lost her battle against cancer. I feel one of my arms has been torn off and my heart broken. Thanks for the good wishes, the hospice did their utmost to create comfort. Thanks to those who donate stuff to cancer charity shops, do things like Race for Life etc. All very much needed. :ASorry to lower the mood of the thread.:o

When my friend was ill and had had a rough day I asked her what her positive was for the day and she did find something. There is always something.

    1. Finding and nurturing friends. It's what life is all about. I'm going to reach out to a couple of neglected friends today and make that call/ email/ text.
    2. Having a make do meal yesterday from some ham tucked at the back of the fridge.

That's all i can think of. Hugs to everyone. :A
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!"
Less things. Less stuff. More life.
 Fab thread: Long daily walks
