5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Good morning from early Tuesday . Alarm has just went off as we are out early for hospital today. I've been awake for ages , not slept well. BIG day today. We get results from recent CT scan and I'm not expecting good news....nut that it was ever great news to start with! However, what will be will be .
There have been pleasures over the last few days.
I did work. I then wrote a message of complaint to my boss. Will see if anything comes of it. I am not happy about the general cleanliness of place and have repeatedly said to him , so have put it in writing.
Bought plants with my laundry money. Planted them up in new pots at front door. A lovely marguerite, a sad and reduced osteospernum, some pansies, lovely viola, a very pretty jasmine. And a little don't know what it is but its a pretty plant.
Finally managed to get grass cut. We have had so much rain, often very heavy overnight so grass has been too wet. Sunday was warm and very strong winds so grass cut. Hurrah! I could then kneel down and tidy up the herb patch and plant some new seeds. Rediscovered a valiant little chive plant that was totally hidden by parsley. However, we then got heavy rain at night!
Day one of back to school yesterday and already DD2 being a drama llama...anyway, I was a good mother, put down my iPad and listened to her tale of woe. Having already been a good mother earlier in the day and making her scrambled egg and toast.
I enjoyed everyone being out and about. Just me and my dog ( who was the laziest Labrador yesterday....had to be almost dragged out for walks, just wanted to snooze all day)
Our iron exploded spectacularly on Friday so new one purchased on Sunday and ironing all up to date. I do like ironing. Washing all dried outside despite the massive downpour at midday. Very windy.
Bathrooms clean , downstairs all hoovered and I feel up to date .
Made cottags pie with veggies for Monday's tea and prepped steak in slow cooker for tonight's tea and have peeled potatoes too. Today should be a chemo day ( depends on results) so will be a long day at hospital.
Unbeknownst to me ( though why I hadn't checked I don't know) clocks automatically went forward on Sunday morning. I was surprised I has slept as late ( I hadnt! ) went to phone friend from home , noticing that big kitchen clock must have stopped! Then noticed it was still ticking....slightjy confused. Then the penny dropped. Now 10 hours ahead of UK.
Lighter evenings! Hurrah! Back to being darker in the mornings for
a few weeks though.
MIL doing okay. Nice chat with SIL yesterday.
My freecycle experience : put kids beds up when we were emigrating. One set of bunks and one up high/ desk under neath bed. Then went out for day....came home to dozens of demands ! I could not believe how rude some of them were. Chose the 2 most polite requests. Was quite off putting!
Right, I'd better get a wriggle on , breakfasts to be made, dog to be walked and a day to be faced.
Night x0 -
Quick pleasures today.
1. Finished the ironing. I hate ironing.
2. Ate a perfectly ripe, sweet and delicious peach.
3. A hawfinch on the allotment. Beautiful, and only the second we've ever seen in over 40 years.
4. Read Jo Waltons ' Among Others'. Engrossed me fully this afternoon. A very clever book, still not sure which twin died, will reread it much more slowly.
5. Poetry Carol Anne Duffy this week.0 -
BOP: was it your first day in a new contract today, if so I hope all went well?
McHags: A lovely post, I don’t suppose you want to our ironing:rotfl:
1-101 Bailed out our boy from the vet’s, he’s very weak at the moment and needs to recover he’s stumbling everywhere, but the vet thinks he will be better here with us to build him up for 3 days and then we will check in again. Lovely to have him back but it could still go either way at the moment, feel a bit heart in my mouth at mo.
102. On our way back from the vet about an hour away from here we pass what is a known fish and chip shop, we stopped to try it, it was “alright” to try the once.:o
103. I don’t think I did anything that resembles cleaning the house today, suffering a bit of CBA, I did wash 2 loads and hung them out.
104. Popped to the post office with the bay sales.:)
105. A really great little role came up, applied for and good feedback all during today, now to get that interview.:)0 -

1) Pottering day at home involving polishing, ironing, cooking, housework of various kinds, reading my cookery books for ideas and many other small and insignificant things that make for a pleasurable day.
2) Lovely walk with Charlie and his Mumi and Cookie in the late summer sunshine, batteries well and truly recharged.
3) He Who Knows has harvested the first few ripe butternut squashes from the allotment mmmmmmmm!
4) Being comfortable 'under' my quilt at night instead of having to climb in and out rather too frequently because of overheating, there's a lot to be said in praise of cooler nights.
5) The way the kitchen smells at the moment, there is turkey casserole and chestnut stuffing simmering in the oven and I've made a fruit compote in the oven too with frozen blueberries, dried cranberries and a couple of windfall apples, the conglomerate of fragrances smells like home ought to!0 -
Its dark outside and I am now home with the candle lit and fairylights twinkling.
Am sat under my beautiful and very old patchwork eiderdown (bought from a charity shop about 5 years ago)
Have had a mince pie and a cuppa tea.
treated myself to a LUSH bomb which I will break in half. It isn't very MSE as it was £3 but I am worth it!!
Got the BOOTS Christmas catalogue which I love to browse through evey year.
Had a lovely day off of work and the air smells fresh and wintery.0 -
* Boxed and moved everything on floors of laundry room and hall yesterday. This was a major undertaking because my pantry shelves (a loose term in my case) are all free standing shelving units. And I'm not talking about short shelves either. This plus all the other tables, clothes rack, vacumns, etc made it a big haul to the bedroom. I did organize it all in the bedroom and didn't just stuff it in there. :A So glad that it's done! Tile guy starts tomorrow. :j
* Started on the dining room and I have it about half way done. More effort this afternoon.
* DH sorted out his satellite radio for his truck and didn't depend on me to get it done. I think my being sprawled, nearly comatose, on the couch gave him a hint. Don't bother me!!
It normally renews, but our CC needed to be changed for the new date of expiration and it wasn't in their system. So they dropped service. I did go online and change the expy date. Service renewed! But he had to do the whole refresh signal and spent a bit of time on the phone with a rep getting that done.
Now he can listen to his old hippie music.
* Finished S4 of Wallander and started a new series>>Blacklist with James Spader.
* Found a bunch of sheets of Forever stamps. (They will work forever on sending letters even if postage cost goes up) Saved me a trip to the post office.
PK glad the little guy is home.
Mhags hoping for good news.
DD1 said her DH thought he was buying a 16 foot fencing post for $5 online. He didn't read it correctly and that was price per post for a lot of 100. He called and explained he thought he was spending $5 not $500. They told him if he'd give them $250 he could come get them. Bargain!! He has a lot of cutting fence posts to length in his future.Good thing they have a large property that needs new fencing.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

DD. Slimey Dragon Prawn recipe has been noted about. Check it out.
5 All or nothing. Have been out and about sorting things. But not much!
4 Ready meal of pie of cottage was finally finished off yesterday. Served with the last of the door stop carrots and ideas. Tum was rubbed. Now lol that!
3 That just left a bit of cheese and ham for tea tonigh. Was served with fresh salad. Tum Rubbed.
2 Night just sat with feet up. And proper cocoa. No foam drinks tonight.
It was dipping, the biscuit. In the cocoa!0 -
Some pleasures for today,
The sun coming up behind the beech trees with the mist still floating above the grass, so beautifully autumnal.
Making the most of the warm, sunny morning and walking Tilly all around the village, she was much admired and loves meeting new people.
HM broccoli and blue cheese soup for lunch.
Finished my latest book, The Lake House by K Morton, makes me want to visit Cornwall again.
Went to see my lovely equine pal, they were bringing in the sugar-beet harvest in the field next to the yard, transfixed by the machinery involved and watched for a while.0
