    Quick pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep. I dreamed that Robbie Williams was my cardiologist. He seemed very knowledgeable and took a blood sample with less bother than most people normally have!

    2) OK day at work. I did get to use the treadmill, which was a first. Well, it was the first time I've ever used anything in a gym!

    3) Colleagues birthday cake at breaktime, to aid recovery from the gym.

    4) Spent a good while clearing the front garden, pruning and tidying, and put 3 plants in the gaps.

    5) Hens fine - 2 egg day.

    6) Had smaller son's quiche for tea (made at school), with jacket potatoes and baked beans.

    7) Enjoyed Bake Off.

    8) Bigger son was very silly last time I took him to an open evening so my sister and brother in law are taking him to Sixth Form College (where sister and I went) and my brother is taking him to his school sixth form evening. :-D

    Beautiful No5 Mrs LW.
    1. Another thing sold on the bay, this time from DH’s garage.
    2. We got over the bridge and I feel like we bought to much but it’s also stocking and preparing DF for winter in case he is stuck, which we will get back of course. I admit I did enjoy looking around the sparkly c. word decorations. :o
    3. Ate healthy-ish choices when we were out but it’s a C0stco pizza slice tonight.

ETA 3 more that I've remembered!

    1) Smaller son on talking about his taxi driver and escort. "Well, I thought I was not able to understand them since the start of term because they were talking to each other too fast. But really, I didn't understand because they talk in Italian" ! :-)

    2) Bigger son, "Yes, PE did come to a bit of a halt this morning. Because another boy ordered a pizza and it arrived at the school sports centre in the middle of the lesson".

    3) Just booked Borth Youth Hostel for one night in half term. :-) Haven't been to ice cream town or its hinterland since early last year.

    1. DS2 has a job. It's just what he wanted and will be starting either Monday or the following Monday. He is so happy.

    2. Watched bake off with DS2 without him complaining.

    3. Work ok - good chat with colleague who I hadn't seen in a while.

    4. Reading my book without falling asleep.

    5. Listening to DS2 plans on how he will spend his salary

See if I can rustle up some pleasures.

    The sun has been shining.

A phone call to the Australian Tax Office ( ATO) and speaking to a very nice man and getting a query answered and felt so much relief.
Even though tax is taken off at source from your wages you still have to do an annual tax return. With quite ( I think) a limited time for return. Anyway nice man calmed me down.

As a result of looking for some paperwork ( didn't find it but nice ATO man gave me the information I needed) I have cleared through so much other stuff! We have accrued so much medical stuff, that we no longer need. To be shredded at some point.

Much washing , much drying and lovely bringing it in off the line still warm. Not done that for a while.

Having to water my seedlings ...rather than the rain doing it. I do like watering plants.

Dog walks in the sun. First one was to walk off a strop. Met my neighbour one along from next door and had a nice chat with her. Then power walked around the oval and threw stick for Mr Dog.
Came home to an apologetic daughter who had caused said strop.

Then a nice walk later with her and dog to get bread at bakers.

Making corned beef hash for tea. So just boiling spuds.

My strop was due to my daughter's continual critique of a blog I write for me by me and read by others. My mother had emailed me and had said she didn't understand my recent blog post and I had replied to her and explained what it meant. DD1 then went on at me about that and how it was ambiguous and wasn't just about one thing and blah ,blah, blah! So I told her it was written from my heart and my head and I did not need a constant essay critique every time I wrote something. She is studying to be an English teacher so perhaps she feels the need to practise her skills! It's MY blog! Hands off!

All resolved now. She apologised. I will continue to write from my heart and boo sucks if no one else likes it!

Right, that's off my chest. Off to mash some spuds then wrestle with a corn beef tin key . Do have a good day :)

fab news about ds2's job villagelife
    hope df doing well pk
    1) went to phd seminar over in education and she'd cited my phd. soooo proud (though prof did then remind me i really ought to publish on the topic...)
    2) actually prof nag then led to good convo with her about where i might publish. am very tempted to ask her if she'll be my academic mentor
    3) got student small grant application down to 1070 words (had been over 1300, I love to precis. hoping they allow 10% as 1000 words allowed for preliminary round)
    4) games night with gbf and friends. gbf's cp is an excellent cook, and we had a delicious meal followed by Scottish Quest. gbf's cp won closely followed by vicar. vicar's wife and i cheated outrageously and came in a disgraceful equal 3rd, gbf and prof (also a part-time vicar) came in an honest last
    5) as doing sober october stuck to tonic water, or 'ginless wonder' as it is now known.

I wants him!!!! Oh yes I does!!! totally adorable boy wiv whiskery chin!!! doggie perfection!!!

    1) A walking day, walked to the centre to take back a library book, walked Cookie, walked up and down the garden path many times carrying trimmings from next doors trees where they hang over our fence too.

    2) Counted 47 different plants still in flower (including wild ones) quite amazing for October.

    3) Someone has lit their wood stove in the village and it smells delicious.

    4) We're going to pick the big apple tree this afternoon as they are starting to drop properly. Love the apple picking day every year.

    5) Conkers( it's not an obsession, really!) got another pocket full this afternoon, strangely satisfying!

2 big boxes of apples waiting to be sorted in the kitchen, not many damaged ones.

I like to read your blog Mhags, though it isn't always easy on the heart....

Mrs LW I thought it was just my OH who collected conkers

    Pleasures for yesterday

1 oven man came, nothing wrong with it. We've just been using the wrong setting :o. Not strictly true as we've always used that setting and now it doesn't work as well. Still the pleasure is it only cost us the call out. The non pleasure is I feel a fool and it cost us the call out
2 spent 6 hours cleaning the kitchen, cupboards, drawers, and cooker. Was so cross at the call out fee that I couldn't bear the thought of a cleaning fee. Nose to spite face comes to mind
3 friend came round for coffee
    4 house is clean.:T
5 washing caught up and mostly line dried..

Have a lovely afternoon folks. The Glastonbury ticket madness starts again tonight so wish me luck
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • And relax. Just pop inn about. Have pics for camera club done. Be careful as BoPsie is in the BoPsie is inn the parish.

:heartpuls to the needy. Normal service soon.
