5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1) This beautiful sunny day.
2) Trip to the Apple Event at West dean in Sussex, we got there early and got to walk round their amazing walled gardens and succession houses in peace and quiet. My favourite place is the thatched apple store, it smells amazing in there.
3) Got some O'Hagans sausages from the stall there 3 packs for £10 so we got pork and plum, pork, cheese and ale and pork, apple and scrumpy. Looking forward to some special meals in the future Mmmmmmmm!
4) Cut down all the pots of herbs on the patio that had gone 'leggy' and moved the pots to a sheltered area to overwinter. The prunings will go tomorrow in the council gardens collection with the recycling.
5) Roast Beef dinner for supper tonight, we haven't had a proper roast for ages through the hot weather so this will be a real treat.0 -
On cooking dinner, ready foods of pie of cottage and crumble done three weeks past and stored inn the freezer, I have been unfortunate to suffer a bounce out in the sink. Not a problem, but stray spinach is all over BoPsie dishes!
Please do not try at home slinging pots from stove to sink if you are not competent!0 -
Good afternoon everyone :hello:
Well, what a rollercoaster couple of weeks! Mainly work based, but also friends based. One former friend has made it perfectly clear that I'm not needed in their life. A great shame, but if that's the way that they feel then so be it. Having spoken to others (friends & acquaintances of the person), I know it's not my fault. Time to move on, but the whole thing sounds like it should be 8 year old children behaving in this way and not adults! Ah well.
However, there are many pleasures:
1) Saw my oldest (as in length of friendship) friend last weekend. A great time catching up with her and her husband. Even took her to the rugby!
2) Charity curry evening with rugby players in aid of a local charity which supports cancer patients. I was in seventh heaven - even DH enjoyed himself!
3) Much cooking from scratch with recipes that are Slimming World friendly. Even DH is enjoying it. (charity curry evening obviously doesn't count!)
4) Pumpkin soup made, using a pumpkin given to us by a friend. Another pumpkin is still in our garden... http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/7730/pumpkin-soup Made without the cream in the recipe!
5) Spiced beetroot and orange chutney also made using beetroot from our garden! http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/68614/spiced-beetroot-and-orange-chutney
6) Lots of cuddles with the cat.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Lainey: I know what you mean, I couldn’t have said it better. While I need to get back to work it has been lovely visiting DF when I want, the house is daftly clean and loads of DIY both done and a fence waiting to be painted next week. I’m trying not to get to used to it.
1. Resisted temptation to just camp out at the vets. Lol, good news is he’s improving and losing fluids, they think we will be able to bring him home tomorrow.:j
2. Someone please slap me if I ever think freecycling is “a good idea” again I can safely say I will never use it again - sadly I will tip future things, even better when I had to report someone for being abusive, just still find it hard to believe to the point of I am genuinely concerned this person has our address:eek:, I reported them to the mods but really that means naff all. On the positive sides for the selling bits we managed to raise £137 so far, it will go into the vet fund.
3. Beautiful free clothes drying weather and 3 lots hanging out.
4. Dinner was all out of the freezer, marinated chops, veg and fake roasties.
5. Played with one of the ferrets for about an hour running around the garden, playing about around an ikea child’s tube thing and she snorkelled the pond while I tried to start tidying it for winter.:)
6. Tonight I need to get going on more job applications and get the CV refreshed out there, a good feeling about next week.:rotfl:
7. DH and I have planned a date day next week, looking forward to it.:cool:0 -
Ooo, that's a shame about Freecycle, PK. The only problem we've ever had is someone offered us a lovely bag of fabric samples (for our craft box). It smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke, we nearly fell over every time we opened the bag and had to throw it away!
Many lost posts recently but I'll plough on with this one.
Pleasures over the weekend (no particular order)
1) Hens well and big pen has been moved onto fresh grass.
2) Caught a rat in the trap in the feed shed.
3) Had my hair cut and eyebrows threaded yesterday.
4) Got some Lush soap - a little bit for each of us.
5) New pens from Paperchase.
6) Went to Ludlow today and bought a framed watercolour from Oxfam for £7.
7) My school friend came for tea.
8) Bigger son still pleased with his birthday bike.
9) My brother came for tea yesterday.
10) Watched Casualty.0 -
Frith: I've never had a problem before, but I've un signed now, this woman was literally physcotic, I was just mentioning to DH that there are some seriously "scarey" people out there. Why do I manage to find them!!!!:eek::eek::rotfl:0

1) Another beautiful warm and sunny day!
2) 2 x loads of washing dry already including heavy cotton throws that go on the beds.
3) Cookie being totally loopy and chasing the dry leaves that were bowling down the footpath in the wind, she's still a pup at heart.
4) Beeswax polishing the furniture, I love the smell and how it all looks when it's first polished up.
5) House clean and tidy from top to bottom so I can have an hour or so just to 'be' this afternoon, He Who Knows has gone to the cinema to see the remake of The Magnificent Seven, not my cuppa at all.0
