Struggling to find 5 pleasures for yesterday as I am still poorly (I am not that bad, just feeling sorry for myself really!
)
Here goes....
- Having a lazyish day on the sofa, catching up with lots of stuff on sky+
- DH buying some treats on the way home from work - steaks, ready prepped veg/jacket potatoes and ice cream so that I didn't have to cook. And he made tea for me too! :A
- Getting DD's bouncy Jumperoo thingie taken apart, washed, dried and put back together.
Err, I can't think of anymore. I feel a little perkier today, so hopefully today will be full of OS pleasures.

Morning all,
A quick OS drive by... of my pleasures:
1. It's sunny!
2. Brekkie that I thought may be a bit stale (am terrible for getting bored with cereal) was ok, thumbs up for Waitrose version of frosties.
3. New light in our kitchen (flourescent, sp?) which will save us some money, plus the old fitting was always playing up.
4. Already done quite a bit today (that smug feeling?!).
5. Missed out on something on freecycle, but the person was really friendly about it. My loss is someone else's gain.

Hi, all - my five for yesterday:
1. Visit from my brother and his girlfriend last night.
2. More yummy homemade pate for lunch.
3. Another bright, sunny day here in Bristol.
4. Having a chilled out evening where I didn't do a thing -now that is most unusual.
5. My brother and his girlfriend having some useful ideas for when I go on my trip.
Sorry, bit hard to think of much, not a great deal happened yesterday although it wasn't a bad day at all.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Evening everyone!
Hope you are all fine and dandy. Still at home sick today... I tried to go to work... but got dizzy in the shower so thought that I better not risk driving. Anyway just walking down one flight of stairs to get the post left me out of breath.
1) I now weigh under 60kg for the first time in 10 years...Long may it last!
2) It's my parents 39th wedding anniversary.
3) Yummy stew for supper with a side of brocolli from the garden (well frozen from the garden). This is the first proper meal I have had in exactly a week and it was just what I needed.
4) My allergy spots are fading... hopefully they will be gone tomorrow
5) Seeing the lovely sunshine for the first time this week... I haven't had the energy to open the blinds until this morning.
I am really hoping that I will have the umph to get outside into the garden tomorrow.
Have a fabulous evening!
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Hi all
Savingforoz, ah what a lovely thing you had, a lazy day! Wish I had more of those!
Ladyhawk, hope you get well soon and well done on weight loss!
Here I am to post my pleasures for the day as promised:
1 - Cup of tea in bed courtesy of DH
2 - Lazy start of the morning, planning the attack to my bathroom.
3 - Before the bathroom, though, decided to chase all the dust bunnies from my bedroom, took me quite a while but managed to do it, the bedroom is much better for it.
4 - DD, DS, one of their friends and I had a whale of a time (if a bit scary) trying to remove a queen bee (or wasp possibly, it was HUGE!) from my bedroom. We were all scared stiff and kept frightening each other but we had a great laugh doing it, running out of the room and tiptoeing back in. In the end I burned some dried sage and we think the beast flew away (I hope!)
5 - Bathroom spring cleaned. It was very very hard work, I scrubbed corners that had not been touched by anyone before (so much for paying for cleaners in the past to do an "in depth" job - never again!). Scrubbed floor and inside of toilet on my hands and knees, used both vinegar and earth-murdering chemicals (vinegar worked better inside toilet, chemicals on everything else). But what a result! I am very happy.
6 - Did a Reverbe while cleaning the bathroom and found 21p as I cleaned behind the skirting board (that still needs hammering to the wall after 6+years that it is leaning on it!).
7 - DH has promised to hammer said skirting board in place tonight. He is just back from work and went to get changed to start the job *I will believe it when I see it - but should it happen it would be a right MIRACLE!*
8 - DD, who was planning to cook tonight, just came home and told me that DS offered to cook instead, because he felt guilty that he did not help me do the bathroom as promised. I am delighted, but in all honesty I would not have let anyone do that bathroom as it needed a real in-depth cleaning and only I can do it at a level of total satisfaction (if I say so myself LOL).
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all.
mollythewestie - hope you had a better day today, and had some really nice pleasures.
Caterina - thanks for your kind comments on my work situation. The daft thing is that I'm not usually involved with this type of case as I'm well known to be a soft touch who'll give just about anyone the benefit of the doubt. I guess that's why I'm so hurt at what's happened here.
Megs mum - did you get any volcanic ash on your foil last night? I did notice that my car was all dusty this morning but I live so close to the beach that it could very well just be sand (it usually is!).
My five for today:
1) I finally managed to identify the lovely tree that grows next to the office car park - it's been bugging me for a few years now, so I sat down this morning and tracked it down over the internet. (If you're interested, it's a bird cherry 'Watereri' - I can't find a photo that does it justice, which is a great pity as it's a truly beautiful tree when it's out in flower. You'll know when my local one flowers as it will be one of my pleasures, probably every day of the week that the flowers last!)
2) Got my M&S £10 meal offer at lunchtime, so there's now a large chicken in the freezer ready for my next rubber chicken week.
3) Did my first big shop for sometime to stock up ready to re-start storecupboard challenge (I know that's not the point of the exercise, but I'd run out of a few essential basics). The bill was a bit :eek::eek: but I should only need to buy milk and fresh fruit/veg for another month, hopefully two, so it should work out cheaper in the long run.
4) Gave the garden a good drink - the first time I've needed to this year.
5) The recipe I'm making tonight calls for a glass of red wine. Now, what shall I do with the rest of the bottle?
 Have a nice evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Ladyhawk hope you're feeling much better soon
My five+:
1) breakfast in bed courtesy dp
2) cuddles from dd this morning
3) free buffet lunch
4) keeping calm when colleague lost her rag at me...
5) glass of wine when I got home
6) Nigella's chilli from the freezer"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
evening everyone
Tealady - thanks
Shadowsfall - A shoe carosel - that sounds really nice. And, of course, you will have to buy some new shoes for it as well!!!
Mine for today
1 A lie in :j
2 My fruit loaf cake thing came out ok (although i doubt i will make it in the breadmaker again) and was lovely with a bit of butter on it for my breakfast
3 The sun shinning
4 Kids played in garden most of the day and had picnic out there
5 Replanted my seedling tomato plants into hanging baskets and repotted a bean plant that ds1 grew in school. Just need more growbags and we can replant the kids veg outside. And thinking of getting a bigger pot for my inside tomato plant which is still growing really well.
6 Cleaned the kitchen so it gleamed (everything in my kitchen is shiny so any smear shows up), so much so that I walked into the kitchen whilst the sun shone through the window and nearly blinded myself!!!
7 Sorted through the ironing pile and put away everything that didnt need ironing and started on the actual ironing. Made a bit of a dent!!!
8 Friday is fakeout night. HM pizza and chips. Dd ate all hers - that must be 3rd day in a row she has eaten all her tea!
I have had a really good day today.
Have a good evening everyone.0
