Oh Frith, ouch ouch on raspberry cane incident, hope your Mum recovers well from her op.
Shootings, politics, reports, so much negativity surrounding us at the moment so simple pleasures seem even more important.
My garden in full flower and productivity, fresh herbs with all our meals, salad leaves and toms growing quicker than we can eat.
Reading outside, eating outside.
Secondhand copy of Economical Cookery, my reading material for the next few days.
Not so OS but enjoyed day at the races with Captain S & youngest hollow-legged one. Sleek, shiny horses to admire, glass of something cold & bubbly to relish and I people watched to my hearts content.
Taking shoes off to rest tired achey feet :rotfl:0 -
I love reading about your summer gardens. We actually had mild warmth from sun this afternoon after a very foggy start to the day, had a nice dog walk via the hardware store for some primroses. Emptied some pots and repotted some lavenders.
I've actually been up since 3.30am ( awake since 2.30am ) caught up on a marathon 3 hour phone call with friend , as we've both been on holiday, so much to say to each other.
Potter, potter. Did an ironing. Haggis and I picked up DD2's blazer from dry cleaners. Had a handyman come. Leaky loo ( water bill twice what it would normally be which was a shock.) had called estate agents yesterday first thing. Will get someone out , then got a text late evening to say owner said try this ....er, we've tried everything and I can't afford a $480 water bill again! Text straight back to say someone would be out! So loo is broken and unusable , he's taken bits away to get replacement parts! We have 2 other loos so not the worst thing to happen.
Grocery shop done and full fridge again.went out for some lunch with OH.
We have friends coming over , table all set, candles all lit, chicken curry in the slow cooker and naan bread proving on the front room window sill. ( above floor heater) have cheated a bit and bought a cheesecake. Would usually bake but meh ....! Have picked a little posy of pink flowers from the garden.
DD2 back to work at bakery today so home with bread ! Will fill the freezer.
Saw a stunning pink magnolia tree in full bloom. And saw an iris peeking through in the front garden today ...maybe spring's coming ? ( aye, right!)
Have a fabulous Saturday x0 -
DfV. Speaking like the BoP!
:heartpuls
5 Town was painted red last evening, and a free ride! Wobbleales were consumed inn time. Chicken bits scoffed. And even BoPsie got helped off the train! All is well!
4 Found out last night former comrade in arms had passed on! Seems C gets about a lot. Time is catching up. Good job BoP has just been rebuilt!
3 Breakfest was triple Chipolata snorkers, best back, mushrooms. Hot buttered toast and marmite, topped with poached eggs. Could not be bothered with star cut toms today, strait chopped and topped. Toast, buttered and bkackcurrant jam was also scoffed. Tea, proper loose leaf, was drunk, with wince of milk! Rubs Tum. No tax was paid!
2 Nights Sticky Chicken was done yesterday. We had to get new dark treacle. Seems that Mr Lyle has been copying my recipes. Too late, we has bin doing it for years and years and years! And on. And on.
560 in 2015 don't count then!
509 so far this year, all count

1. I bought the phones and a quality case as well, and tried not to keel over, and then we had our order cancelled :eek:as it looked like unusual activity, I know they mean well but…:rotfl: so the outcome was we reserved 2 at Argos and went and picked them up instead. DH is sitting beside me with a big grin on his face that’s it for about a month now while he learns everything. :TIt’s quite a treat, and very sleek and shiny on charge to the laptop as I type.
2. I took time to re word and update my CV, I haven’t put it back out just yet but I will do in a few months’ time.:o
3. We took the ferrets out for a walk tonight. I know we look quirky but they do love a good amble:o. We have a quarry right beside us with a public footpath. We met one of the workers there walking his dog and got talking. He was absolutely lovely, has worked there for 35 years and has one of the group of houses on the site, he knows our house and now knows where to come with any others he finds. He took us for a walk and we learnt all the history. I’ve found an amazing source if it’s still available when ripe for damsons, apples, blackberries and rosehips it will be interesting to see if they are there when ripe. We saw the tail end of a badger, a hare and various damsons, it lovely to remember it’s on the doorstep.:)
4. Gardens all watered, we have resorted to slug pellets in the front garden as they have literally decimated plants there’s no live and let live going on.
5. In the oven as I type are leftover Chinese sweet and sour pork balls and pancake rolls, heating through for tonight’s dinner also.:D
6. Just enjoying that Saturday feeling and wishing the weekend was a little longer.:cool:0 -
Pleasures for today:
1) A lie in - hoorah!
2) Did little this morning except make sausage and egg sandwiches.
3) Checked the hens.
4) Went swimming with sons and my brother.
5) Went to nearby village to use the cash point, had look in charity shop. Went up to favourite nearby moorland (?) and saw a weasel cross in front of us on the way - no deer today! Also sons played in the ford a bit on the way back to big village for Chinese takeaway.
6) Watched Casualty.0 -
I had an ant eater once that got out. This was the summer of 1971 when everyone thought they were flower children. I went across the street to the park and was asking different kids sitting out there on the grass "have you seen my ant eater?" I got some real knowing looks. :rotfl:
* found my ant eater in '71.
* popped grape tomatoes straight into my mouth as I picked them.
* cut up a cantaloupe... it's sweet and tastes like summer.
* rental finally rented with a one year lease. Had to come down on the price as our area is depressed due to mining and oil field lay offs. Feeling relieved!
* only 4 more payments until car is paid. :j
Firth I hope your eye is ok today.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Morning all
The sun is shining and all others are abed. Making the most of the silence before DS starts playing the guitar and piano
Mila - boo on the drain. I fear my shower is leaking and may need the same treatment. Yay for chicken tacos. Hope DGD a Frida in talent only. Wait, what? you had an Anteater? A pet one?
smiley - need a bit of a pamper sesh myself.
DD - Belfast is surprisingly lovely, isn't it? I must take OH there, he will love it.
Pinky - nice to see you back. Same for me, re teaching. I miss the students. Going back tomorrow for a revision session but not sure anyone will turn up. Leftovers sound more like a fridge full
Frith - I had a dream about your hens - we were collecting loads of eggs.Wales match was ace. Rather glad they're not playing the germans for third though. Ouchy on the raspberry cane
Mhags - Haggis is funny. I am rather obsessive about laundry and don't mind catching it up. We also have a load of bibles. I gave some to the charity shop and expected the bolt of lightning
Capella - nice to see you back. Sorry things are tricky. hope your recovery continues. I do this thing where i shut my eyes and try to find four things i can hear. it's amazing what filters in eventually. A kind of meditation, i guess
BoP - excuse me, but 52 is not old  :rotfl:
PK - hope all is OK with the job. Also love line dried washing (see above. Obsessed i tell ya). If your phones are that old, you won't regret spending out on the new ones. but i feel your pain when the savings balance goes down. LOL at ferret walking.
Mrs LW - Hope Zebra isn't too tiring, and congrats on Pingu
Smiley - nice simple pleasures - bodes well for new place of work
DforV - hope you and yours all ok
Skint - you must need the sleep. Light mornings often waken me v. early but i have taken to using a sleep mask when they do, and get a couple more hours. Probably look like a kidnap victim in it... :rotfl:
Lainey - I think a day at the races is quite OS. At least you were there, rather than watching from something electronic.
Ampersand - hope you've settled back
Pleasures for last few
Fresh raspberries from the garden. We are going away next week for three weeks, hopefully DD (who has chosen not to come) will pick and freeze rather than let them rot on the plant
A couple of good walks
Getting somewhere with the thesis - I hope. Supervision this week so i shall see
Sorting out DDs stuff into some kind of order
Tried to make a bit more effort with food over the last few days - it's made me more interested
Coffee with bereaved friend - nice to be there for her
BBQ on friday and a bit more fence burning
Having DD home - though she is a messy kid
DDs birthday pressies have arrived. She is going to be 20 next week  how the heck did that happen?
Bit of work this morning. Bit more house sorting. COme on Andy this afternoon and footie tonight...
Busy day :rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hello, it's teatime in the land of the blooming chilly. After yesterday's lovely weather it's brrrrrr back to hats, scarves and gloves!
Nice evening last night, friends came over at 7pm ...armed with gifts of chocolate and home made biscuits. Lovely evening .
Phoned niece and had a nice chat with her, by this time it was after 11pm ( I'd been up since 3am ish) OH had written a piece for his FB status...titled ' I'm not dead yet! ' , beautifully written , he showed me it before he posted it so went to bed sobbing!
Up again since 3.30am. Phoned my sister very briefly , then SIL for a bit longer and then friend from home. Went back to bed at 7.30am. I can't keep this up but need to chat with people back home.
Woke up at around 10am with labyrynthitis-y symptoms....I don't have time for it so took my tablets and hope I can nip it in the bud. If not it just lasts a few days.
Walked up to train station to meet our friends who had flown down from Sydney to see us. Gifts of beautiful tulips, a Jo Malone candle and even more chocolate ...our friends obviously know us! A lovely afternoon with them and popped out for a coffee .
Having corned beef hash for tea. And leftover cheesecake for pud.
Have a lovely day ...hope you're warmer than we are0
