  • Cold and wet here in the south miserable rainy day - hopefully it will brighten up later

    Pleasures for Saturday

    1. dry day got loads of washing done and line dried - thank goodness as it sure aint drying weather today !

    2. mixed some weedkiller in an old watering can and did the alleyway at the back of my house and the forecourt at the front. Neat liquid stuff bought in Aldi so will see if it works - it was dry when I went to bed at midnight so hopefully its not washed off. Ticket price was £4.89 and thankfully I checked my receipt as it went through the till at £6.99 and refund of difference was given once challenged

    3. got a cheaper quote for DS for breakdown cover online. You really have to read the small print for every quote to check what they include/exclude. Took hours, but this one covers running out of fuel, misfueling, & keys which a lot exclude

    4. needed houmous for DS but managed to avoid doing a supermarket shop as I found some in our local shop, a little bit dearer than Aldi but I managed to resist the chocolate and ice-cream so that was all I bought ...and I walked there so save, save

    5. caught up on some recorded tv - watched the exorcist for the first time (cant see what all the fuss is about but I guess it was a big deal when it was originally made) and a Swedish film The Hypnotist on iplayer.

Have a good sunday everyone. Am supposed to be out for lunch at 12 so better get myself organised

  • This is on a caning! I was thinking it is a good job the jam is currently black!
    VJ. Beginner!
    Ant Eaters!
    Frith. Snorkers, please!

5 Watched Bond last eve. Spectre on the cinema thing. Not the best, seems to be all explosions these days! BoPsie was drooling though. But she has something better than that! Sticky Chickens and wobbleales were consumed!

4 Breakfast this morning, we had pork snorkers, best back, mushrooms, star cut tom and cut tom. Mushrooms, fried toast and poached egg. Toast hot buttered with blackcurrant jam was also wolfed down with tea.

3 Just done the shop in w8rs. £18.92 this week. Used the squeeze and squash machine.

2 Nite for tea is hot buttered minted new tatties, pan grilled pork snorkers and onions. Served with fresh garden peas, cauliflower and the last memnants of the Bat On Carrots. The Spotted Dick from last week will be served with instant lumpy custard, not the foam version from the kettle!

The music that is the sound of your life!

    Some pleasures for the weekend,

    Saturday,

We were out bright and early to do grocery shopping so avoided Saturday morning rush.

Home to a breakfast of mushies, scrambled egg and hot buttered sourdough toast.

Spent a good hour or so sorting out clothes, now have bag for CS, and some possibles for DSIL, wardrobe much more organised now.

We watched two films on sat night, Bridge of Spies (love Mr Hanks who turns 60 this weekend) and Aliens, didn't get into bed until midnight, unheard of for us :D

Had changed bed so clean sheets, mmm

    And for today,

Quiet day at home just the two of us, what we call a Ma & Pa day when we eat and drink what we want and generally just chill.

Popped out to pet shop for dog food and treated the girls to new tennis balls and a frisbee, happy dogs.

Roast dinner, full works which we hadn't had for a few weeks, followed by jelly and ice-cream.

Read my book for a while, watched the tennis and had a little nap.

Finishing day off with glass of wine in front of the football.

    Counting my blessings x

    Quick pleasures for today:

    1) A lie in!

    2) Hens OK - 2 eggs.

    3) Went to Croome National Trust for football, looking at Grayson Perry tapestries (again - had seen it in Birmingham, though we all remembered different parts of it) and lunch.

    4) Went for a quick paddle in nearby lake.

    5) Waitrose for bits and pieces.

    6) Sons went to role playing evening with brother and brother in law.

    7) I got loads of stuff done, including cleaning the bathroom (which had needed doing for a while).

    8) Caught up with Holby City.

Hugs to everyone who needs them.

    1. Busy few days. We met my sister and husband for the day on Thursday. Was very enjoyable. He is now on gardening leave so is thinking of a career change so starting to whittle down ideas of what to do.

    2. Friday we met friends at a beer festival. DS2 picked us up so saved taxi fare. It was good fun and chance to catch up with friends.

    3. On Saturday after work (double time)went to local classical concert with another friend. Took a picnic and it was an amazing evening. Good music and company and weather was kind to us. A long walk to the car helped with the excess of food eaten.

    4. Yesterday managed to spend much needed time in the garden. Planted some plants after digging up a tv that the previous owners had dumped there. Did some general tidying up and it looks so much better.

    5. DS2 deciding getting up a few minutes earlier to make lunch was easier than stopping on way to work. Also cheaper as I pay for food in the fridge!

Hi all, it's blooming wild and wooly here tonight. We had a beautiful morning after a wild, wild night and although there was a cold wind it was bright and sunny and I got a washing out and dried in a couple of hours. It's now rather crazily windy and blooming chilly.

Slept! Sleep has been elusive past couple of weeks but I've caught up last night :8.30pm -6.30am , that was a pleasant surprise.

Deposited $220 of $2 coins out my sealed pot. These will go towards paying for my car rego ( road tax) our newly opened bank branch has a coin counter. Simple things!

Went to local solicitors ...circa 1952! Will and medical power of attorney stuff organised. Tick!

Went for coffee and shared a very delicious pavlova pancake
Pancakes, marscapone cheese, shards of meringue, strawberry , maple syrup and the tartest passion fruit I've ever eaten. Don't think I could manage a full serve but we would both have it again.

Then it was home and we had a visit from the community palliative care team . A very nice nurse ( who liked Haggis) explained what will be available to us. A lot to take in but we should be well looked after.

Mad dash up to post office before it closed and got our passport photos taken , then quick nip over to friends house to get photos verified.

Made pancakes for kids tea .

We got a beautiful basket of flowers from my sister today .

Nice dog walks . Well wrapped up.

    Signs of spring coming .

    Have a good Monday :)

Happy Monday :D Was reading yesterday that for some it's the best day of the week - optimists everywhere thinking 'this is the week i'll get on top of things'. having come back to work to 748 emails in my inbox i won't quite manage that in one week! but set myself the target of reducing to 80% and achieved that at 11:50 yay
    1) rewarding myself with cuppa and flapjack friend brought in
    2) lodger moved in yesterday. is going to be a very temporary lodger as he's moving on soon, but as a good friend will be an excellent start on my rent-a-room scheme adventure
    3) plants, moved to next office for colleague to look after in my absence, all look very healthy
    4) herbs in boxes in front garden also survived (basil, parsley, thyme and mint)
    5) made arrabiata. may have been over-generous with the chili flakes, but that means a little goes a long way. had some yesterday with baked butternut squash

  • These pants I've got on are doing my ...

5 Now you all know a few weeks ago, BoP got a new packet of cards so he could play cribbage. Well, he has still not lost with them. Had a mini games night last eve. We ended up with the Captains Mistress and balls everywhere.

4 Raffles was up to his usual this morning. He was fed his usual crunch and meat, but that was not good enough for him. Out and back in seconds, and the local bird populace has been reduced by [STRIKE]one[/STRIKE] two! OK. BoP clears up the mess.

    3 Fingers crossed for Tuesday!

2 On the shop yesterday, got some expensive snorker rolls on the cheap. No BoP would not pay £1.99 for them, but we will see later.

The flutes are tuneful this week!
  • I'm brand new here, so hello one and all! I'm really enjoying reading through the MSE forums, so many amazing ideas and lovely people!

    My 5 pleasures for today...

    1. I spent the morning volunteering at the local RSPCA cattery (which I do every Tuesday normally, got called in today as someone else fell ill) so I got to see lots of lovely kitties :)

    2. I walked home from the cattery so got some nice, fresh air and a bit of exercise.

    3. Showed my mum how to use my slow cooker before heading to work!

    4. Looking forward to meeting a friend after work to go Geocaching (GPS treasure hunt).

    5. Following on from number 4 - today I will complete a year-long Geocaching challenge (hobby-related but still stressful)!

Hope everyone is well & has far more than 5 pleasures for today :)
Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints!
