A lovely lay in this morning, cat laying over my feet.
I have made peanut butter biscuit dough and also some lemon and orange dough. I will bake biscuits this afternoon, I love the smell as they are cooking.
No work today!!!
My flower baskets are in bloom and my peas and beans are sprouting up nicely.
There's no noise outside, just the birds which is lovely to hear.0 -
Good evening from a chilly Melbourne. , to be 4o tonight and already it's cold and a very starry sky and bright half moon.
Let me find a few pleasures for past few days. Life feels a bit frantic and hectic at the moment, lots going on ( mainly medical stuff )
Face to face with a little possum yesterday morning, when I took Haggis out for a pee first thing! It was nibbling on my rose petals.
I was back at work for just one day , it actually felt okay to have a sense of normality ( glad to finish though)
Didn't work today as OH had an MRI, I took train into city, sat in cathedral for a bit, said my thanks and lit a candle. Then popped over to Fed Square and sat and people watched for a wee while. Then tram up to hospital , met OH there and then sat for an age whilst he was scanned, took a mag my customer had given me, read it cover to cover and left it for someone else to read. Tram back down city and train home!
DD1 came home from hospital on Saturday afternoon. Had a told you so moment , had a polite disagreement with nurse as to how wound needs dressed ( I used to be a registered nurse and didn't think wound care basics would have changed much in the meantime) surgeon had phoned to speak to me as he had had to rush off after DDs op , so I asked him ....and I was right! I will be doing daily wound care for next few weeks so wanted to make sure I will be doing it correctly, main thing is apart from being sore at times and ever so snoozy she's okay.
My other DD is just sore, grumpy, feeling very hard done to, I am trying ( or being tried!) to stay upbeat and positive on her behalf! See specialist again next week and hoping for a plan of action.
Bought 2 lovely bunches of flowers ( 1 for me , 1 for DD1 ) at City train station , DD1 had given me money for Mother's Day a few weeks ago to buy flowers.
Saw a dark blue parrot on the telegraph wires the other day. Wow!
Nice brisk dog walks in the chilly mornings.
Nice chat with friend from home ( and messaging over weekend as she was away from home and DD1 was in hospital ) thank goodness for good pals!
Tiny sparrows at train station , hop, hop , hopping looking for food. Don't get them out our way so I'm always happy to see them, little tiny birds in amongst the hustle and bustle of a busy station.
Made lovely lentil soup last night ( with freebie bread from DD2's work) and then a lovely cottage pie and veg for dinner tonight, love autumny / winter food.
Think that's all. Almost bedtime. Skint take care! Enjoy your Bank Holiday , hope the sun shines.0 -
They could bowl out a cat at this rate!
5 Marmite soldiers on buttered bread this morning were ceremoniously dipped into perfect boiled eggs. Lovely. Jam on toast was also taken, as was proper loose leaf tea, not that soggy bag mess! Rubs Tum.
4 Elevenses, another decent tart was minced, see crumbs elsewhere KK! Proper tea and a cake of Jaffa! Rubs Tum.
3 Neighbours young lad was trying like mad to garner favours with Raffles this morning, but of curse, he was having none of it. Front yard was cleared up in less than twenty too hoots, looks good, now ready for the cricket.
2 Night watch out on the box of ogles itv 4 at 9pm, and every night this week as we move into the TT season. Young cousin is racing again this year, bike 44 and 52.
Apparently, the looking glass only shows a reflection.0 -
Pleasures for today:
1) A lie in.
2) Moved the hen pen to fresh grass. 2 eggs today.
3) Played f1 on the x box with smaller son.
4) Sons went to play tennis with my brother. I put the washing out and cleaned the bathroom.
5) Swimming with sons and my brother after lunch.
6) Chips for tea then Jungle Book at the cinema.
7) Went to see the collapsed bridge (rather impressive) on the way home from the cinema. A lovely evening, weatherwise, and followed 2 hares along the road for a while. Haven't seen a hare since in Wales 4 years ago.
8) Going to listen to Just a Minute.0 -
Oh dear, the more you want to read more about some b list entity and their ..
Move along the bus now, room on top!
5 Short glimpse last night on itv4, race coverage starts on Thursday. itv 4 9 pm I think. I will be asking questions later inn the week.
4 BoPsie, who is currently sleeping in the shed due to putting BoP in quarantine for alleged wind, has through her own misdoings, was just given gruel and weak tea for breakfast and bagged off with a couple of mince pies. I ask you, if it was that bad, it would have woken BoP from his beauty sleep. It did not! Rubs Tum! Wobbleades were not consumed prior to her misgivings and placing BoP in quarantine. Further details, see rule one.
3 Watched the speedway last evening, with cocoa, proper cocoa not that foamed variant. Served with toast and marmite, real butter was used. Lovely. Rubs Tum!
2 Day, the trains are running like wild cats again. Think they have problems with the level crossing. Will have to get me muddy boots on and find out.
Look at ways you can stand aside, and just watch the others brawl. Just like yesterday on Skeggie beach. I watched as two adults squabbled, and he was hit by her with such a slap, he fell over. Then the police were called, and one had to draw his truncheon. They split up. but the man grabbled the policeman's truncheon and started hitting his wife, in front of their kids with it. A dog then got involved, and emptied their picnic basket, walking off with a string of sausages they were going to barbeque. We then got up and chuckled as the crocodile appeared and said That's the way to do it!0 -
Morning, I am going to try to post more often. It is good for me...
:o - Epic fail.
(that was a week ago)
Lovely pleasures all in the last week.
BoP - glad you're doing well, coincidentally I made mince pies last week.
Mhags - hope DD is improving
Frith - eek at the bridge fiasco. Andat the school stuff. Is there an option for DS to do BTEC in resistant materials (or whatever it's called?)
McCulloch - fantastic news on the scratchcard win for your son's friend. Always nice when a deserving person wins...
DD - so proud of you. You have come a long way
DforV - agree with teenage years being there to ease you into them leaving.
Lainey - must look at changing suppliers.
kittikins - keep going, nearly there...
Pinkypig - lovely, simple pleasures. There's something about breakfast outside that makes me think i'm on holiday
Anyone I've missed - thanks for your pleasures, it is a pleasure to read them.
Railway children - surely the end is happy not sad? Though i do 'get something in my eye' when i watch it.
1. I'm in Ice Cream Town and the Weather is GLORIOUS :T
2. Fairly grim visit to dad (sleeping in bed full of cat hairs is not my idea of fun  ) but duty done and i have offered to Kondo their house in the summer. Kind of don't see why i should, but I think they can't see wood for trees now and it will make dads life better.
3. Lovely couple of days in London - visit to dads was in the middle of them - and an afternoon in a very old library. Bliss.
4. Progress is being made with the PhD - my thinking is coming together, just hope the supervisors like it. :T
5. Lovely bank holiday weekend in ICT (I haven't actually had a honey ice cream for nearly a year :rotfl:) friends and some family here and we have had meals out and some walks and some barbecues. There may have been beer  Home tomorrow, unfortunately.
6. Planted our little yard and it's looking lovely, birds are going 'nuts' on the feeders
7. Logging on to the live feed from the Osprey project just as the second chick hatched :T. They have one egg not hatched and won't nowbut lovely to see that one emerge. I am slightly obsessed with ospreys
8. Being bothered to walk to the seafront last night and witnessed a stunning sunset
9. Met a friend for coffee before boarding the train to ICT. She spends half her year in France and I have an invite :T
10. Lovely bike ride with OH on Sunday in glorious sunshine. We stopped at a roadside honesty stall selling jams and cake. Bought a jar of marmalade and some home made cake the latter of which was consumed en route.
About to walk along the beach to Aberdovey - once there I think beer will be consumed.
Have a lovely day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
.
DD - so proud of you. You have come a long way
omg mhags trust HI now sorted?
frith i too get panic attacks re. driving - have only driven on motorway once! have friend offering me hypnotherapy to get over fears. even the thought of that brings me out in a sweat! but with xoh going and leaving the car perhaps it's time to bite the bullet
1) well xoh's notice now officially handed in. She's to work her full 3 months notice (i think she was half hoping they'd let her go with 1 but on the other hand it a) shows they value the job she does and b) will give us more time to get things sorted).
2) decorator coming tonight. woo hoo.
3) friend wants to lodge september so that fits in very well with xoh's plans (he's not well off so offering to clean, drive and walk dogs as part of deal yay, not to mention the on tap concert pianist )
4) another friend may want to lodge for a few months so that will help with decorating costs. have checked up tax situation on lodgers - all good
5) refound the 1.5 pounds i lost last week :-( but probably enjoyed it :rotfl:MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
25 for 25: 371 / 625
declutter: 173 / 2025
frogs eaten: 100 -
Evening from chilly-ville. First proper frosty night last night, was 0.8o when I took dog out this morning and my car windscreen was iced over. Went to start car and it just went meh! Too cold! Started later on once sun was up and about.
So pleasures for today
Well my OH had day off so ( after a rude awakening to take DD2 to school) we went out and about, I had a scone and a hot chocolate in front of a roaring fire. OH bought the right bits and pieces to fix lawn mower which broke last week.
Kitchen floors washed , windows cleaned , bathrooms done ,
new soft broom purchased and to be kept away from the dog who does like a chew at a brush!
Got a cheque in the post from old school for $79 thankyou very much. For sale of old uniform or school books!
Went to a drama production at school...dramatic DD2 had to withdraw from acting due to hips but was backstage. Don't think her teacher was happy but we did have a medical certificate from her specialist . DD2 very negative and hard done to...me trying even harder to make her feel less so, don't think my attempts at jolliness are helping. Sigh!
I made leek and potato soup for lunch and OH made corned beef hash for tea.
DD will be phoning insurers tomorrow ! Glad your household situation is working out.
Frith are all 3 hens laying? Or just they same 2 or can you tell?
Do have a nice day ! I'm heading to bed0 -
Quick pleasures for today - plenty of them!
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Dentist early on. No fillings. None yet, which is not bad at my age.
3) Cooked breakfast whilst in town.
4) Bigger son enjoyed looking round an antique/junk shop and bought a woodworking plane.
5) Popped to National Trust place for croquet and cricket.
6) Lovely weather for most of the day.
7) Let the hens out - 2 eggs today. We know Barbara is laying some as we caught her getting off the nest once. Hers are spherical!
8) Went swimming with sons and my brother.
9) Went out to our local Indian for dinner (cheaper, midweek 3 course offer).
10) Looked round the canal basins and river afterwards.
11) Sons made me laugh with funny things they said.
12) In bed with 1 hwb and smaller son - his first time in here for nearly a year - as they are staying with their father for a few days and he is not very happy at going.0
