1, DS1 has his masters. He is really pleased but doesn't think it will ever be relevant to his job but having done one probably secured him the job he has.
2, DS2 has done well in his dissertation but has to wait for the rest of his results. He is home and applying for jobs. He has a temporary job over the summer as a manager where he has worked before which is good.
3, The garden is looking slightly better and some of my plants are growing well - slugs have got some!!
4, Had a lovely day at Wisley last weekend while DH needed as he relaxed as he seems very stressed at the moment and he has been chosen to be audited by his professional body. It is a routine audit and 5% of people are picked every couple of years.
5. DS2 doing some cooking which saves me doing it every night and makes me less tempted to have a takeaway.
6, Sorting out some cupboards and listed stuff on ebay to declutter the house before all of DS2 stuff comes back from uni.0 -
Morning all
Frith - Mmm Date and Walnut, Coventry eh? Bet you're in no hurry to return....
Pinky - I always dry my washing outside. I have one of these http://www.rotaire.com/. They are fab
DD - Blackcurrant tea makes excellent tea bread
Mhags - Love your cake count. It's like cake watch with the Archers.
Mrs LW - I know what you mean about "there's no place like home". Click your ruby slippers together..... Ooh Home grown strawbs, luvverly
BoP - I am trying to remember your previous incarnation.... Can we choose the next one?
McC - DS has also grown out of firing footballs. :T Ooh sounds like a lovely family day
Lainey - LOL at the birds. Vodka tiramisu sounds yummy
PK - Funnily enough I had my first boiled egg and soldiers in a while at dads last week. pure indulgence
Skint - Glad you are feeling better. Bought choc brownie ice cream yesterday at Aliidi's - always have to check it's ok when i get home.:o
Villagelife - Well done to your DS's :T These things come in useful in ways you don't expect. Always better to be as qualified as you can, I think. Gives you choices... DD is coming home from Uni soon with all her stuff <<holds head in hands and weeps>> Luckily this time only for the summer, then next year for good (potentially). I love her being home, but she ain't half untidy...
Pleasures since Wednesday
1. Good lie in on Thursday - I do love the longer days, but light mornings waken me up (even in a darkened room).
2. Good thesis progress. I think my thoughts are starting to gel, and am thoroughly enjoying it.
3. restocked the very empty fridge. DS is happy with me, except for the lack of bacon....
4. lunch with friends yesterday. Place was rubbish, we won't be going back, but was good to catch up
5. Baked lemon drizzle cake and my usual weekly loaf of sourdough bread
6. A tragic incident at our local railway stationmeant i had to pick OH up from one on the other side of town. Cue very loud singing of Oasis - had the windows open :rotfl: Altogether now "Soooo Sally can wait, she knows it's too late as we're walking on by. Her soul slides away, but don't look back in anger I heard you say"
7. Was stopped at traffic lights yesterday, and a car was alongside that looked like my friend's. i leaned over to glance and see if it was him, only to be met by a strange bloke sticking two fingers up at me!! I mouthed "What the hell is that for?" and the passenger (a teenage lad) just mouthed "don't worry about it". Bizarre!! :rotfl:
8. Gave the bathroom a good scrub - since getting rid of the cleaner, I am trying to bring the house up to standard. There were things she just didn't do, and to some extent having a cleaner makes you lazy so I didn't do them either. So i "bicarb and bleached" the shower cubicle to get rid of limescale and went into the nooks and crannies. The kitchen is the next room for a spring clean.
9. The sunshine finally broke through yesterday
10. Hearing DS play the piano. He has taught himself, and is very good. Last year he taught himself guitar :T Clever boy... (and cue more Oasis)
Have a great weekend all.
Ampersand - hope you are OK, you've gone quiet...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Morning all, and work from homers. Now all sit back. Come back &. Sits, relaxes. Its her putah thing gone Wong!
5 Wobbleades were consumed last evening, as promised. More will be taken later. Chicken of Sticky is made up, ready for furnacing later. Recipe is a hand down from granny bop. Last week were a little hot!
4 While drinking her wobbleades last day, BoPsie marked and said that if we only has one snorker for breakfast, then we could have two breakfests this weekend. And so it was! Snorker, pan grilled with mushroom. Grilled Tom, topped with pepper and thyme! Hot buttered and marmite toast, topped with fresh poached egg and toms. All washed down with concentrated juice of orange, with added spring of BoP Palace water. Tea was also drunk. Raspberry jam on hot buttered toast was also wolfed down. Rubs Tum.
3 I note three threads in other areas have been cleansed. One claimed to be some great Doctor, another about a car. I am thinking of killing off BoP, as I got me self a red card! All I said was starlings, eBay and put the trinket, sell and recoup. Thing was I was born with two eyes, two ears. And one gob. If you cannot listen and take note, then ... Oh well.
2 Day BoP and BoPsie may have a QFP. That is a Quick Flocking Picnic. May watch those who sat in the jams last weekend in need of a get away, clog up the roads again. Just checking, look away now Sparra, if any caravans are upturned!
If you continue to wash the wall because of what is written, then it is the wall that erodes away, not the words!
Minds me of the graffiti at Riby Square suggesting that men from a northern island were described as being fatherless! The more they tried to remove it, the more it was replaced!0 -
I think ampersand is down my end of the world .
It has been a dreich day here , all day. grey, damp, dreary. However, I've been at work since 6.30am
Niece sent me some new photos of my lovely great niece.
Nice chats at work . One of boss's friends was in this morning but boss wasn't , so he came and had a blether with me.
Doggy snuggles.
Half way through shifts , two more to go.
Shall banks some pleasures!0 -
BOP if you come back with another incarnation of yourself on these OS threads could you be 'SNORKER FEST' or 'MARMITE ADDICT', we'd definitely know either of those is you!0

Oh goodness, my heart consultant has written. Another tablet to take. Shake rattle and roll. Soon has that kink on my LAD sorted!
Sits, larfs, knowing yous be on liedepedia soon. Here's the picture! Mine has a big knot in it!0 -
BoP used to be TILAMS, (Take It Like A Man, Sonny) for those who are racking their brains to try and recall, as I was for a minute or two...
1. Amazon guy did not leave my parcel with a neighbour but as directed in a safe place.
2. Parcel was a rather nice sunhat with kepi-style neck protection. Khaki turned out to be beige, but that's ok.
3. I have worked out a much safer way to get in and out of the bath for my shower.
I am mystified as to how I didn't manage to work out this solution earlier. Probably because to have done so would have seemed like "giving in".
I can't remember why, but I was looking up the stats for falls in baths a while ago, and falls whilst getting out of the bath are a very common cause of household accidents.
Dr C.'s best friend lost one of his older sisters in a bathtime fall when he was a baby.
Having had a very lucky escape from the same some years ago, I have used rubber/silicone bath mats ever since. Wilkos always have a good, well-priced selection.
4. My latest freebie summer dress is a long tunic instead but I like it. The colours (turquoises and paler blues mostly) are two I don't usually wear, which means some rarely worn pieces of jewellery have had an outing too.
5. Your pleasures, thank you.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

1) Bees humming very noisily on the footpath today all over the flowers on the rowan trees, busy, busy, busy lovely!
2) Lunch today included home grown freshly picked peas, sugar snaps, courgettes, broad beans and lettuce all in a rather delicious risotto.
3) The perfume of pyracanthus (fire thorn) bushes in the village which are masses of snow white blossom on every branch, so evocative of summer.
4) Getting wet feet when I watered the pots on the patio, coolest I'd been all day.
5) BOPs new incarnation, good name!0 -
