V quick update! Bigger son very ill yesterday morning - day off school, better by bedtime. He passed it on to me and I had it overnight and into today...

    Pleasures for today

    1) Lots of lying in bed, sleeping.

    2) Watched HIGNFY on iplayer.

    3) Went to feed the hens at 8pm - in the car! Too wobbly to walk. Marigold got out. :-0 Luckily she just stood looking pleased with herself so I picked her up and popped her back in the run again.

    4) Managed to do some washing and washing up.

    5) Sat in front of the stove all evening and watched Casualty.

Some pleasures for last few days,

The warm, sunny weather, from the moment left work on Thursday its been smashing. All of a sudden summer seems to have arrived.

Went to Ely, have a good look round all the CS's but refrained from buying anything. Did spend a long time putting together a basket of goodies for my Mum's birthday tomorrow. Got several items from a lovely little chocolate shop, few other bits and some of her favourite Finnish goats cheese from W8rose.

Hit my stone off on the BSD :j

How quickly washing is drying on the line, got through several loads yesterday including the winter scarves, hats etc which are now tucked away.

Spent most of the day in the garden reading and listening to the birds all around me. Skylarks in the field next door, buzzards high above the house riding the thermals, then being mobbed by jackdaws when they dared to enter their air-space. Know there is several JD nests in the beech trees so no doubt protecting young.
Only downside was putting on sunscreen little too late so pleasure was cooling after sun lotion on red shoulders:(

Watched and enjoyed Coastal Walks with my dog, Mr Spencer's spaniel so very much like my little girl in looks and mannerisms.

Cold glass of wine and dark chocolate , yum.

    Frith feel better soon m'dear

    Saturday Pleasures :)
    1. A walk in Heaton Park with the dog whilst MrC attended a beekeepers meeting: the park was beautiful in the sunshine.
    2. Spent ages sitting watching treecreepers shutting up and down the trees just off the path, such tiny busy birds.
    3. Saw the Kentish Plover AND a Little Stint - both rare in Britain - walking the dog round a nearbye reservoir :T
    4. Lovely walking through a flock of Martens hawking on the same reservoir. Amazing birds!!
    5. Discovered that we have a pair of wrens nesting at the base of an old compost heap on the allotment!

    A bird filled day :):)

A very good evening from a very wet Melbourne, has lashed with rain all day on this Mothers Day.

This mother had to go and work and cook for other more lucky mothers! We were mobbed! I was stressed! I may have been swearing like a trooper! I did, however, apologise to my young colleague! One more working day to do...I can do it!

This mother was taken out by the father of her children and we had a late lunch / early tea. I'd finished up an hour earlier than normal so we were able to get in before their kitchen closed.

Had sent DD1's friend a text as I had her wages & she went me a lovely text back wishing me a happy Mother's Day and thanking me for my sage advice and how she feels very welcomed into our family ( which she is) lovely :)

A lovely journal from DD2 with lovely words. I wish she believed in herself more as she is very wise.

Cash from DD1 to buy myself my flowers next few weeks.

    I do have a son ....

Emails pinging back and forth , trying to organise a very cheap and hopefully cheerful weekend for his 21st birthday weekend. A country cottage booked , was recommended by friends. Something else to look forward to.

Lovely online chat with my favourite niece last night. I do miss her, she was a HUGE part of my life back home.

Always snuggles and cuddles with my favourite dog boy!

    Have a lovely weekend :)

    1. got up and had a cuppa with DS before he went to work at 5 then back to bed and slept till 8 ... a lie in for me usually up at 5.30 for work

    2. lazed around in my jim-jams till 12 then had a shower, hair washed and legs shaved... well its a sunny day!

    3. wore 3/4 length jeans for first time this year - that's as much leg as I show :o

    4. friend came round for couple of hours and we had long chat over a cuppa or two

    5. spent a few hours making DS a birthday pressie (newspaper with his 21 birthday as the headline) and a card, as I couldn't find what I wanted - miracles of a computer and a printer !

Apart from a bit of washing up no housework was done :p

    1. The kindness of a neighbour who brought my wheelie bin back in to the garden for me, it's a bit of a task with 2 sticks.

    2. Weather. Getting the rotary dryer untangled, without too much swearing, after its winter rest and opened out again ready for washing.

    3. Venting anger whilst on the trike at the woman who decided not to let me have priority as the law and common sense dictated, but cut me up. TG for good brakes and grippy tyres.
There was nobody around so I really shouted at her, and called her some names.
I felt so much better, instantly.
Tsk, tsk, road-rage, you say? If I had been day-dreaming (as she clearly was) at that point instead of paying attention to the road, I would have been seriously hurt or dead. Well, I hope she was daydreaming. If she drives like that normally, I bet she's seen loads of accidents...

    4. A lovely lunch and afternoon with friends. An adult's colouring book and a face cream were re-homed.

    5. Using a Boots giftcard for a big bottle of cod liver oil, for my arthritis and realising it was cheaper than Savers. I shall get 3 for 2 next time I'm in. I don't know whether it does any good or not, tbh, but it can't do any harm at the dosage I take.

  • Weekend conglomerate pleasures

    1) Friday with that Zebra, we played, read some books, did 'RUNNING', went to the park where they have an amazing kiddies play area including a massive sand pit and had lots of fun there, got lunch at the coffee shack in the park, a small voice saying 'CROISSANT OMA' when he saw them so he had a whole one and some milk, got them off to Wales where they were going for the weekend as it's his other Grans birthday.

    2) Lovely meal out on Friday evening when we got to DD1s, I had a Haloumi and Hummus burger with guacamole and fries, YUMMY!

    3) Up on Saturday bright and early went dress shopping with DD1 who is to Buckingham Palace next Sunday for a D of E awards ceremony. Her lovely cocktail dress had to be dry cleaned and they managed to shrink it by over 1" but we found something delicious for her to wear so she's happy again.

    4) Rugby tickets from Cookies mum and dad on Saturday afternoon, super atmosphere in the ground and a good game despite us losing and then home for an hour and a snack before DD and I went off for the summer concert in the Cathedral. Wonderful music, wonderful choir, some organ solos and a rendition of the Posthorn Gallop played on the organ with two trumpeters that was so much fun we were all in stitches, great stuff!

    5) Good run home today in summer sunshine, a little slow in places but no actual stoppages. Grass verges lined with an abundance of cowslips, we saw kestrels, red kites and lots of buzzards, a great many apple/crab apple trees on the verges all in blossom, went to the farm shop and got some fresh cut asparagus for supper and arrived home for a cuppa and ploughmans lunch in the garden. Lovely times away and nice to be back home now!

    So far today ...

    1. Brought in two loads of washing from the line and have another two drying plus one in the washer.
    2. A leisurely stroll round the big car boot sale with friends. Their first time and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I bought half a dozen items but all necessities plus one fancy game for their wee boy for the grand sum of 50p - got to love the end of the day bargains!
    3. Came back to a nice strong cup of tea and an apple slice
    4. Chicken already cooked for dinner so will just have to be stir fried with rice on the side
    5. The sun has shone for most of the day - always a joy but especially in Glasgow!
    Looking ahead
