Good morning all!
just a quick one as got quite a bit to do today...
My pleaseures for yesterday were -
1) We have a new car! Not very OS but it but a big smile on my face - it's old and rattley and very characterful...OH needed a car as sharing mine is getting harder and new one was only £500 so a bit of a bargain.
2) Spent a good couple of hours in the garden reading and playing with pup in the sun.
3) Managed to hoover the whole house whilst OH kept pup busy and it looked great....for about 5 minutes until pup ran inside with a mouthful off moss that went EVERYWHERE!!
4) Chatted to a friend via skype who we haven't seen for a while.
5) Spent the evening with OH's friends and their ohs in the pub with pup all curled up on my lap.
Have a great Sunday all - I am back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off - not looking forward to it.Clearing debt to save for a simple wedding.Starting 2016 With debt of £77000 -
Morning everyone -
mine for yesterday:
1. More washing dried outside, only problem with this is I now have an ironing mountain:eek:
2. As still child free, a pleasant couple of hours wandering round the shops without anyone asking for money
3. Managing to get a christening present reduced from £20 to £6 in Debenhams sale. Plus a couple more things at 70% off to put away for birthdays.
4. Vouchers today for free milka chocolate and dairylea plus some for mum & dad:money:
5. The lovely sunshine yesterday, going out in just jean, t shirt and a cardigan no coat
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Morning all...
hope you are all enjoying the weekend... YAWN!
Just got back from my oldest brother's birthday party which was fun. It was at a club in London called Prohibition so we all had to dress up in 20's gear. Everyone seemed to have made such an effort, which was lovely to see. I had to laugh though when we were waiting for the tube a group of Polish lads insisted on having a photo with me.
1) Seeing my brother and celebrating his birthday with him.
2) Had a date with KiwiBoy on Friday night which went well. I think that he is defintely Mr Right Now rather than Mr Right at the moment, but that's fine with me.
3) My flat is a complete mess and after my siesta this afternoon I will get cracking with tidying up and get it back to how I like it. I need to put all my spare furniture onto Gumtree again. It really needs to sell!!
4) Going out last night without a coat... it was slightly chilly but it great!
5) Nougat
Enjoy your Sunday
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

Hi all
Hugs to all who need them, welcome to new people and returners!
Thanks for congratulations on collar turning, I am still so chuffed! However, to be honest, it was a really simple (if quite fiddly) job. House elf, if you can use a sewing machine and sew (fairly) straight you can do it, if I did it it means it is NOT a complicated thing! I had been wondering why people make such a thing of it, all it took was unstitch the collar, turn it and insert it in the slot, re-stitch it in place by hand and then go over with the machine (and remove the hand-stitches). Voila, collar turned!
Here are mine for yesterday:
1 - Yoga workshop for upper back and neck pain, was great, really gentle and put me back in the mood to go back to yoga classes with this teacher. She is very good and does a lot of adaptations for people like me who have stiff joints (unlike so many yoga teachers who could not give a fig about less-than-able people and only concentrate on their star pupils!).
2 - Splendid weather again!
3 - Afternoon with DH, pottering about not doing much!
4 - Preparing dinner for family and friends with the help of DH and DD's BF (DD was away babysitting).
5 - Dinner was yummy, when I arranged the dinner with my friend we decided that she would make the side veg and I would make vege-sausages (shop-bought!) with nettle-bubble and squeak. The nettle, together with some new kale leaves and beet greens came from my garden. Pudding: apple and rhubarb crumble with vegan ice-cream. Loved it all!
Here are the pleasures for today:
1- Long lie in (really needed it!).
2 - Breakfast in bed courtesy of DH (his amazing signature dish of porridge with chopped nuts, seeds, raisins and figs with a shot of honey).
3 - Sorting out my bedroom and clearing out a lot of junk, putting more photos of my kids on the mantlepiece where I love seeing their sweet little faces of when they were younger!
4 - Lunch of leftover bubble from last night with two leftover chopped veg. sausages in it.
5 - Planning to cook tagliatelle with tomato sauce for dinner and eat it in front of the TV watching a DVD of the first series of Life on Mars (the new Ashes to Ashes made me want to re-watch the whole series from the beginning!). Don't you think Gene Hunt is sooooo sexy? heehehe
Have a great day everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Afternoon all. Hope you've all had / are having a lovely weekend in all this sunshine.
I'm pleased to say my sister's visit wasn't nearly such hard work as I was expecting - she was in a pretty good mood despite suffering really bad earache (her GP told her it was nothing and would go away by itself - it hasn't and she's now almost entirely deaf in one ear and spent most of yesterday evening curled up in pain).
My pleasures:
A couple of late ones from Friday:
6) Inspired by the Attack of the Plastic Plant I got my hair cut - it's now a good couple of inches shorter and looks so much better.
7) Met up with a colleague of my sister's who was visting Portsmouth on business. He turned out to be a really nice man and we chatted happily for hours - we got quite a shock when we looked at the pub clock and discovered it was quarter to one - no wonder the bar staff were dropping hints that they'd quite like us to leave!:o
Saturday
1) Spent the morning wandering along the seafront in the sunshine with my sister.
2) Had lunch in a nice pub with a pretty garden - it proved a bit chilly to sit outside, but at least we could admire the flowers from our window seat.
3) Visited my favourite (free) museum, and my sister liked it as much as I do.
4) The bottom bulb of my galileo thermoter has sunk to the bottom for the first time this year (i.e. it's finally starting to get warm)
5) I finally got my sister to agree to go back to her GP this week and get her ear sorted out (the GP was quite rude and dismissive last time so she was reluctant, but we got there in the end).
Sunday
1) Another fine sunny day.
2) Nearly all of my flower seeds have now germinated. (Still no sign of the veggie seeds, though - I wish they'd get on with it!)
3) The mystery bulbs I planted last week are coming through the compost already, so I hope to find out what they are soon.
4) Treated myself to my favourite bacon and hummus sandwich for lunch - yum!
5) I won't have much time for dinner tonight, but all I'll have to do is open the freezer door and pick out one of my HM ready meals to stick in the microwave. I do like having stuff there when I want it - much cheaper and tastier than buying a ready meal from the supermarket.
Have a lovely rest of weekend, everyone, and hugs to all those who need them.Back after a very long break!0 -
1. a nice lie in. been having to get up for the window fitters a lot this week, so even though this is easter break, i've not been getting as much sleep as i'd have liked!
2. making my poor-mans-carbonara for lunch today - yum! [bacon pieces, Mr T value cream cheese, pasta... oh and a wee sprinkly of herbs]
3. my bean sprouts trying to take over the world - go little guys, go go go!
4. putting my frugal hat on and realising a better use of last nights left over bolognaise would be chili-ing it, rather than buying bread for toasties.
5. being quite happy to just hide indoors, no reason to go anywhere today so shall just spend the day in here!On the up
Our wedding day! 13/06/150 -
Afternoon all
Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather this weekend (if you have it!)
Mine for yesterday and today:
1. Our local heritage railway was running the old steam trains for the day yesterday so we took the kids and had a ride into a nearby town where we got chips for dinner and had a wander around all the little shops and then to a lovely park area. Thomas-Tank-mad DS was enchanted with the steams trains
2. Taking lovely photos of the kids in the park, with a beautiful backdrop of daffodils
3. Back home and my mam and dad came round for a few drinks early evening.
4. Late night tea of HM pizzas and salad with a large V&T when the kids were in bed.
5. Lie in today until 12noon, DH got up with the kids and took them for a walk to see some new lambs.
6. Mam and Dad have taken them out for the afternoon allowing me to potter around, do some baking, blog reading etc
7. Watching my washing blowing on the line - washing is my favourite household chore
8. Easy tea of carbonara and garlic bread
Take care all

1. The path to the greenhouse is finished, using slabs I saved when I took up a small patio about five years ago.
2. My lovely dad mended two fence panels (and laid the path).
3. My (also lovely) mum brought us homemade biscuits. (You can see where I was trained in OS, can't you?)
4. There was a bit of cement left over, so after they'd gone I refixed a couple of loose slates around the pond, and repointed a few more. Double bonus-not only free, but a medium sized job became a small one because the cement was mixed.
5.With the path finished, a clean kitchen floor that has a chance of staying that way...import this0 -
Evening,
Mine for today:
1. Another two lots of washing dried on the line
2. Poached egg on toast for breakfast
3. Decided to get the train into Windsor today and had a pleasant couple of hours wandering around the shops there including Lakeland. Managed to avoid the worst of the tourists.
4. Picked up my free samples of Milka Chocolate and Dairylea triangles in Mr.W plus a few other bargains. Also picked up some free salad seeds to send to my dad. He's very green fingered - I am hopeless:cool:
5. OH bought us chinese takeaway for dinner tonight so no cooking for me.0
