Hi all, v. late so posting my five now and plan to catch up with everyone's posts tomorrow.

    My five for today:
    1) tea and croissant in bed courtesy dp
    2) cuddles from dd this morning
    3) enjoyed a day in Bath
    4) filling in gaps in dd's wardrobe for the summer
    5) watching the new Doctor Who and discovering that Matt Smith is excellent. I can understand why David Tennant joked about him being so good when David was on the Alan Carr Chatty Man show a while back

I don't normally post on this thread although I have read it before, but I feel the need to focus on the better things in life at the moment, so this has given me the opportunity to do this.

    1. Having the day off work and being able to have a baking frenzy!
    2. Feeling the warmth of the sun on our faces as DS and I walked to Co-op to get some s/r flour for baking frenzy
    3. Noticing how big the lillies have suddenly got in my garden!
    4. Hearing DS and H2B laughing out loud at Fantastic Mr Fox
    5. Feeling luck to live where I live.

There are loads of lambs in the surrounding fields, and they are so sweet. When the sun came out the other day, a couple of them put their faces up to it! Imagine my horror when I drove past the butchers and saw a sign declaring that new season lamb is now available.....! I don't think I can eat it anymore.
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

    Im kna... tired!
Had a read and catch up, but feel like just getting jamas on and hugging dog!

Must make a quick note though to Mollythewestie
I read your post and felt empathy for you, and how you must feel. I too would feel bad for feeling relieved, as well as bad for feeling that way - Please try not to hun. Anyone who has gone through what you have, with almost a stalker scenario, always feels a sense of relief to know that the ordeal is over. And although it started as a friendship with someone whose company you enjoyed, the relationship turned sour through drugs and alcohol, NOT through anything you did or didn't do. I know it isn't the ending any of us would wish for, but it is an ending hun, its closure, and I think its good that you have now the sense of freedom back that was taken away from you through no fault of your own, and you will be able to move on properly. BIG HUGS.

and MEGS MUM IM HERE!!!! Just not posting replies atm, Im too kna.. tired! Normal service should resume shortly... no idea where Ollie is, but I am sure she is having fun!

    okiii
    1) I am working out front atm, as we swapped, and after 2 years in the kitchen, I feel like I did when I started a new job, all keen and enthusiastic and pleasant to everyone! (it wont last lol)

    2) It was dry all day, and the girls had another 10 egg day! Although... it seems that the letting them out thing was a bad move, as they now see it as a right not a privilidge ( we have let them out every day for a week at the same time lol) and not only that, but today they had plotted their escape and executed it perfectly.. distract and conquer, by dividing into 3 groups, and going in 3 different directions! I had to laugh though, despite having been on my feet for 8 hours, with an evening shift to go and desperately needed a nap!

    3) I tidied the office, sorted the safe / change / tips / all sorts! The little things that drive me insane because I am in the kitchen and feel I cant really have a go about, but they matter to me, I sorted them all!

    4) again being out front means that I had to clean the rooms that were checking out. I know it sounds mad, but I havent done it for 2 years and it was a pleasure to do it my way! (and also prove it can be done way faster, and way better than is currently!) Am I sounding like a control freak yet!

    5) Overhearing 2 things (that was definite over hearing, not convos for my benefit - not least because people dont know I own the place lol) the first was a couple I checked in, and took them to their room and they went in adn said it was lovely etc. I left them to it, and said if you need anything just ask and as I was up there I put some stuff away and overheard them in the hall saying that it was lovely and that it was the nicest place and the best welcome that they had had so far during their week of travelling, much better than "insert a place an hour or so away from here that I know well and has a great "reputation" but thats all it is, if you go, you dont go back lol) *retracts claws!*
and the 2nd thing I heard was a table of 6 we had and the lady was saying that "if you are in the area, this is very much the place to eat, it should be on everyones to do list" (she was local) They didnt know I was there as we have a "circuit" we do all the time, out one door, walk around the back and back through another door!
I know it sounds like Im up my own bum and Im not! They are pleasures to me to know that somewhere along the line, despite some rubbish Trip advisor stuff, we are pleasing some people at least some of the time!

    gnight all :) ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz xxx

and she finally worked out after 4 months, how to make that quote her sig! :rotfl:
  • After several months off work, had surgery, physio etc., and now just getting back into it again(nursing) I could cite not five but twenty OS pleasures just from today, a late shift, and ALL boil down to the same thing - so I`ll list it as One
1.Feeling useful again, feeling that wonderful feedback from PEOPLE (patients, visitors, colleagues. Stressy at times but I`m back where I belong, feel alive again!)
    2. Our Consultant, (the big scary chap) singled me out and said `Welcome home!`That nearly had me in tears. So unexpected, didn`t think he`d remember I`d existed, that was really nice.
    3. DS had done some washing up after himself before I got home. (RARE!)
    4. Drove home after work, my Holly-dog dashed up to the car as I drew up with a loud whimpering welcome home too.
    5. Opened door and smelled yummy smell of beef hotpot, I`d put leeks, carrots, and leftover sliced brisket with some sliced spuds on top, and the stock from the brisket, in slow cooker, put on auto just before I left at 11. 45.
    Can I have a 6 and a 7 and a 8?
    6. The slow cooker hotpot was as good as it smelled when I came home.
    7. I love being back at work, but I have a weekend off, lie in tomorrow, or I wouldn`t be on here now!
    8. Car boot on Sunday!

Huge hugs to those who have been going through nasty times in recent days/months, welcome back to people who've been "away" from us for a while and "hello, pull up a sun lounger" to newbies :):)

    Yesterday's pleasures....

    1. Cuddles with DD all day long :):)

    2. DD writing in her new journal I bought her, it seemed like after we did something, she rushed off to write about it, bless her little writing chops!

    3. The sunshine

    4. DD and I decorating a tree with daisy chains and taking photos of it. A passerby said it looked very beautiful, lol.

    5. Playing in the park with DD and chatting to friendly people whilst she made lots of new friends.

We're off on a day trip today, so hopefully will have lots of new pleasures to post tonight/tomorrow :):)

Have a great day everyone x

Hi, everyone! Just a flying visit today, as I need to get out and about.

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Short day at work - always good.

    2. Having to get the exhaust on my car fixed (ominous clunking sounds as I was driving - never good!) but being able to absorb the bill of £80 within my monthly budget, although the rest of the month will be tight. All thanks to the good money- saving skills I've learned from this site!

    3. New season The Mentalist on TV - what a cracking episode!

    4. Lovely sunny day here in Bristol and again I enjoyed the spring flowers as I was driving.

    5. A guilty pleasure, this - having to take the car in first thing to get it fixed meant that I had to skip the gym...even though I go frequently and regularly, exercise still doesn't come naturally to me.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

    Morning All,

Molly - Sorry you have had a bit of a shock, but do listen to all the sensible comments on here. You have every right to feel relieved. I come from a long line of heavy drinkers. This was one of the reasons I chose to distance myself from my family and felt guilty for a long time, but I know it was the best way to protect my little family. As it happens we are off to visit DM today, but DS1 and DD will not come with us because, since they have got older, they refuse to put up with her behaviour

    Yesterday

    1. Early morning swim training for DD. Nice chats with swimming mums for me.
    2. Working in the garden with DS2. He may only be 8, but he is a great supervisor/motivator. Got loads done. (Didn't do anything last year as we thought we were moving, but as the house is not selling, we need to tidy it up).
    3. Walk in the park with DH, DS2 on his bike and dog. (I had to sit on a bench as I had seized after working in the garden).
4.SC chicken in the pot for tea. Mmmmmmm
    5. Dyed a top and some towels a great shade of turquoise! A new lease of life for £1.50 each item!:money:(Don't think I will be trying the collar turning Caterina. Well done you!).

Hoping it's sunny in Liverpool, so we can go up to Southport.

Have a lovely day. HE x

Thank you all so much for your kind words after my post yesterday, I don't feel so guilty how I feel about the situation now.
It is very easy to look back with rose tinted glasses and wonder if I could have helped him more, but both I and other friends tried everything we could at the time, but he became so violent and angry that he pushed everyone away.
Again, thank you for listening to my emotional outburst.

Onwards and upwards as they say, I had a rather better day yesterday and here are my pleasures:

    - Making vegetable soup for lunch, with some "ready for the bin/bottom of the fridge" veg (Was scrummy though!)
    - Having healthy homemade stir fry for tea, rather than the usual friday night takeaway.
    - Getting lots of washing dry on the line and not having to put tumble dryer on all day.
    - Seeing a new bird in the garden - apparently it was a fieldfare.
    - My sister having her baby scan and finding out that she is having a boy (1st boy in the family for many years)
    Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
