Good evening everyone.
wssla00 - it's all excitement with you at the moment, isn't it? I'm very glad to hear you're OK after your exciting day.Caterina wrote:I suppose that is one of the things that allow me to live a champagne lifestyle on lemonade money
What a lovely way of putting it. That made me smile - thank you.
Shadowsfall - :hello: Thanks for posting your pleasures - I always like it when more people come along and post.
ACEY - I'm glad npower made an effort to get in touch - I get my gas from them and so far I've found their customer service is pretty good (by energy company standards, anyway!). It sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday - I rather fancy a day wandering round castles.
Mr Lahey and family - congratulations! :T:T:T
My five for today:
1) NSD.
2) Went for a nice walk in the sunshine during my lunchbreak and got stopped twice for directions by visitors to the city. It's always a good reminder that I'm lucky enough to live somewhere people want to visit.
3) Had time for a bit of gardening when I got home, including cutting back the ivy at the front of the building - at this time of year it has a tendency to try and block the entrance to my flat if I don't keep beating it back with secateurs.
4) It's obviously been good weather for seeds - most of my flower seeds have now started to germinate. Still no sign of any more veggies, though.
5) Did a Reverbe and found 1p - in my own garden! It must have fallen out of the window of one of the other flats, I think.
Right, I'll stop there as my computer keeps freezing - I thought I'd lost this post once already, so I don't want to push my luck!Back after a very long break!0 -
I'm so sorry Caterina, it was said in jest - I love reading about the things you do, and hearing the differences between your city life and my rural one. If anyone should say less it's me, that's the second time recently I seem to have said the wrong thing...I apologise sincerely S
Ah please Sparrer do not apologise, I was not offended, but I know that sometimes I go on and on...so I wondered if I had done so. Glad to hear that you don't mind me doing so, and neither does Jexy!
Bella, I am glad that you are feeling a bit better.
Here are the pleasures for the day:
1 - The WEATHER! What a splendid, lovely, sunny day, it looks like Spring has reached London at last!
2 - DS's friend and friend's father (professional landscaper) working on the church garden across the road, DS made them tea and I went to ask for any spare logs of wood, now I have some more to stash away for next winter.
3 - Shopping at the Co-op with the vouchers I still have from the Vitality Show (Thank you LilacLillie!), giving £3 off on a £15 spend (in effect it is 20% off the shopping.
4 - Quiet lunch alone, soft boiled egg with ryvita and a nice mixed salad, with a dressing made from leftover (dregs) of mayonnaise which I mixed wtih a bit of olive oil and cider vinegar YUMMY!
5 - Stripped the bed, washed bedding and other laundry, all hung and dried out on the line.
6 - At charity shop, got a lovely big white teapot (£1.50) to replace my dear brown one that fell and broke yesterday.
7 - Also at the charity shop, lovely simple metal cufflinks for my shirts (£2.50).
8 - As mentioned before, trip to the laundrette to wash quilts, driven by my friend as it would have been a two-trip trek for me to do it in the bus.
9 - The company of my friend while the washing was done and a lovely walk on the river while waiting.
10 - Planning a nice butterbean and leek casserole with baked potatoes which I bought at reduced price when I went back to the shops for some bread.
11 - 25p off the bread with a voucher.
What a great day! Hope you all are having a good one too xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Blimey wssla00 - don't blame you on opting for a chinese after that day!
Hi shadowsfall  welcome to the thread!
lilmisskitkat totally see where you're coming from with the market - my first job was on a market stall and I love all the noise and excitement of it!
CCP - it is great having Pompey on the doorstep - I always think how lucky I am to be able to go and see the ships and boats coming in whenever I want really!
What a day Caterina - hurrah for your chaity shop finds!
I had an extra treat yesterday - our friends came over in the evening and brought me a dozen eggs from their chooks - 6 brown eggs and 6 pale blue - I am so chuffed!
My 6 for today -
1) The sun!!!
2) Doing lots of washing and drying it outside so it all smells gorgeous!
3) Bodie pup being a superstar and really well behaved all day
4) Sitting outside the front of our house with pup in the sun chatting away to OH and his friend as they worked on his car

"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Yay Sunshine!
wssla00 - Well done on your escape, as long as you promise to go back to the hospital if you feel poorly again.
Acey- Well done on your castles tour. Way more credible than our trip to Warwick Castle which is becoming a facsimily of a sham tbh, but fun!
Not a good start to the day as I had a bit of a rant to DH about not really having a holiday as I am spending it doing school work or housework. Not able to do anything cos of counting every penny and wearing second hand clothes and not having nice nails as I can't afford to have nail extentions anymore. Not to mention the bit about not having any friends cos i'm too busy etc etc.
Anyway........
1. Went shopping and met a friend I haven't seen in ages.
2. Went to Cafe Rouge with above friend and chatted over coffee for an hour.
3. Got home to a message from DD to ring a friend who is mummy of one of DS2's friends. Did we want to go bike riding in the park?
4. Afternoon in the park with friend and littleones all playing beautifully.
5. Just looked in the mirror and I have caught the sun. I have a very red chest!
However, the bad news is that the friend I met in the morning was telling me about the husband of an aquaitance who died suddenly and afternoon friend telling me she has been diagnosed with MS. Puts my rant to DH into perspective.
Thanks for letting me count my blessings. Stay safe all. :A

Aaah thank you Girly, unfortunately I'm far from being slim and gorgeous, well, maybe just a little bit gorgeous, lol
Caterina - another vote for not curtailing the length of your posts
Olly - where are you?!?!?!? I'm missing you as are lots of us I'm sure! Hope you're well and happy
Bella - glad the painkillers are making the pain bearable, keep resting up x
wssla - oh my giddy aunt (as DD says, lol), so sorry to read you had to go into the hopital, you take care too - that's an order x
Hello everyone!!!
1. The sun, I went out to Brighton this afternoon in a short sleeved dress and leggings and YAY, flip flops
2. Did a Reverbe (hello hon) and found 1p
3. Bought the most AMAZING silver sparkly sandals, used a voucher so they only cost me £8 and another gorgeous pair of brown sandals, perhaps slightly more suited to the office.......although I will wear the sparkly ones as often as possible
4. Felt less jaded than I deserve today after the party last night, but I did make sure I drank lots of water before bed.
5. The best pleasure of all, soon I will be leaving to go and see my beautiful, amazing, funny, heart-warming DDHopefully she'll creep into my bed in the middle of the night for cuddles, I've been missing them since Monday!

Evening,
Sparrer - I did get my peony from one of the boards on MSE. My dad is very greenfingered and I'm sure he will have it blooming in his garden. Unfortunetly he didn't pass that skill onto me I would have it killed within a week
Kittikins - I know what you mean about missing your DD. It's nice to have a break from them to do grown up things but you cant wait to have them back.
Acey - Glad you had a great day with your boys.
wssla - hope you are feeling better soon but remember to go back if not feeling right
jexy - I have a picture in my head of your girls sprinting up the mountain:rotfl:
bella - glad your leg is on the mend
ccp - I used to love going to our portsmouth office and watching the boats out of the office window.
Ladyhawk - glad you managed to get your key back and cats are still in one piece
Mine for today
1. Toasted crumpets for breakfast, yum
2. Busy day at work but more order to it. I did say something out loud in a conference call today which I thought I was just thinking but seemed to get away with it;)
3. Cheated at lunch time by having a grilled chicken baguette with cajum mayo from my favourite cafe.
4. Wearing some of m new bargain clothes that arrived yesterday today and beong really pleased with them
5. Coming home to post which contained £6 vouchers from a recent survey. Vouchers from various surveys are starting to add up.
Hugs to all who need or just want them0 -
Evening, everyone. Whoa, it has been a busy two or three days! I'm feeling pretty whacked from work and whatnot but I've still got the odd pleasures or two to post. And here they are:
1) Seeing the first (to me, anyway) butterfly of the year. It was pale lemon in colour, and I'm sure I know the name of it but it escapes me...
2) Trees being covered in pink and white blossoms. So pretty.
3) Liking the name of one of the horses in the Grand National and then drawing it in the office sweepstakes.
That's it, really. My ear is blocked and I'm still coughing, but I'm putting on a happy face. I'm falling asleep right now, so I think I'm going to finish up here and head to bed. Take care, everyone!

5 for today!
1) Car still doesn't feel right to me but the man put it on the ramp, wiggled everything and took it for a long drive and can't find anything wrong with it (?) He assures me it is not dangerous so I suppose I'll just carry on with it!
2) Went into Worcester with boys and my mum. Annoyingly, Pratleys (2nds china shop) and Lush were both shut - the 2 shops I really wanted to go in! But the 2nd hand shops were good and the boys picked up some little bits and we did our usual holiday activity - going up to the top of the Cathedral tower. A pair of peregrine falcons have been introduced to keep the pigeons down so we watched them soaring around for a while. Unfortunately, they kill pigeons then must sit on top of the cathedral to eat them so there are legs and bits everywhere!
3) Had some nice lunch out as well.
4) Lovely weather this afternoon. We sat out in the garden, I read Saturday's papers that I hadn't got round to reading, boys played with their tin soldiers then we went for a scooter ride.
5) Did roast chicken etc for tea followed by a shop bought chocolate gateaux. :-)
6) Lady came from Freecycle to take away my 2nd hoover so thats a bit more space in the house.
7) Boys enjoyed watching Flushed Away on BBC3 and I had a free hour then to tidy up and clean the stairs and kitchen floor.
Just waiting for my sister to phone now - she's trying out folk dancing tonight!

My 5 for today.
1. Enjoying the spring sunshine and spending a bit of time in the garden. Bought another plastic growhouse (£10), so erected that and put lots of my seedlings in it, moved the other growhouse to a more sheltered area of the garden. Bought some chipped bark and layed it down. Phew!
2. Sat down many times while getting all the above done, had masses of ventolin and a couple of mugs of tea and felt a sense of pride at what i had accomplished.
3. Took delivery if an AF order and spent half hour putting it all away, i always say 'thank you Lord!' when i fill my cupboards, so many have so little and we have a roof over out heads and food in our stomaches and modern amenities.
4. Dug a lentil casserole out of the freeszer and nuked it for our tea, served with some home made bread.
5. Had a good natter with mum on the phone. Bless!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
NSD Challenge: October 0/140
