    Hi Erme, welcome :)

This thread, as I use it, is for me to record good, and generally, OS things that I've done/not done, to vent irritations, share good news, and generally be cheered by reading about everyone's posts. A lot of what I write may not be particularly OS, things like going over to a friend's birthday party for example, but it's a good way for me, when I'm feeling a bit low, to keep my spirits up by posting and I also love reading about other people's days. When I've had a fantastic day, I like to share my happiness :)

Phew! Anyway, everyone is really friendly and I love reading everyone's posts :)

With regard to your bike basket question though....a good OS way might be to think about whether you really NEED the basket or are just craving it (I'm a sucker for wants!!) and if you're looking for a quick fix, and fancy bath bombs and the like, how about seeing if you could make your own - there's bound to be 1001 recipes using bicarb and/or vinegar on here, lol :)

Hope you'll come back and tell us about great things happening in your life today and in the future :)
  • wssla00 - what's going on with the latest installment of your neighbour soap opera?
puss14 - Indigenous studies? If it's what I think it is, it sounds right up my street! Is it the study of native cultures and societies? Or have I got hold of the wrong end of the stick?! - okay, just read your latest post. It's clearer now I know you're in Australia. It sounds a really fascinating degree. I wanted to do Anthropology, but circumstances led me to having to go to Uni in London and I couldn't get on an Anthropology degree course there. Maybe when the boys are all grown ...
Ladyhawk - £20 for a complete costume is fantastic! You couldn't buy a ready-made one for that. And well done on your presentations.
CCP - hope you found something yummy with your freezer dipping. That made me laugh!
Bella - Glad you're feeling slightly better.
Mr Lahey - Huge congratulations to you and your adventurous family. You'll all remember that for life - what a treasure!
House elf - Lol! When written down like that, home-ed sounds absolutely idyllic! It is hugely rewarding for all and I really enjoy our life but there are lots of pit-falls. Btw, I leave the boys with DH when I go to the supermarket - too much of a nightmare with them when shopping! Well done on the Fly-ing and all the seed sowing. I did start following Fly Lady last year but I really couldn't keep on top of it.
Caterina - I love reading about all your free and low cost treats. You sound like you're an expert on finding all these goodies.
Acey - sorry that you had such a hard time from your brother. Your impromptu day out sounds fantastic though. Hope your DS gets on better at Beavers this time.
nuttybabe - well done DS for riding his bike without his stabilisers.
sparrer - hope you had fun at your fellowship.
kittikins - 5 stone lighter? That's amazing - well done.
Shadowsfall - Welcome to the thread. This is my favouritest thread on the whole forum. Everyone is so lovely and reading everyone's pleasures really does cheer you up.

Okay, here are mine for yesterday:

    1) Monthly money came in - I always feel a lot lighter when we've been paid!
    2) Another day when the boys spent most of it playing outside. Reminds me of my childhood!
    3) Had a family tournament on the Wii fit.
    4) Got several more jobs ticked off my list.
    5) DH and I watched 'Paranormal Acivity' on DVD. I was too scared to go to bed, so DH (who usually stays up later than me) very kindly (or because he was scared too) came up with me.

    Hi all,

Sparrer, I don't mean to exhaust anyone, just relating my pleasures, I know I have a fairly busy life but this is lovely for me (if I am saying too much I shall reduce my postings, please let me know!)

BlimusOreilly, thanks for kind comment, I seem to have developed a knack for cheapos and freebies, I suppose that is one of the things that allow me to live a champagne lifestyle on lemonade money LOL

I was going to put my pleasures now but my friend has just arrived and is driving me to the laundrette to wash the quilts (too big for my washing machine), a pleasure in itself, will tell you all my pleasures later.

    Love to all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Afternoon all :)

Not posted for a few days, real life getting in the way! My 5 for today:

    1. Coffee and a good natter with my friend this morning whilst the kids played.

    2. Ordered myself a new Cath Kidston purse which i've been wanting for ages, thats the last of my birthday money gone now and i've enjoyed it so much :D, got lots of nice bits for me and the house

    3. Going to the market in town for fruit, veg and meat, i love the atmosphere and the hustle and bustle of it.

    4. DS has slept right through the past 2 nights in his big boy bed, still strange not to have him in with us to cuddle though :(

    5. Nice easy tea tonight of Hollands steak pie, chips and peas

    Take care all

I'm so sorry Caterina, it was said in jest - I love reading about the things you do, and hearing the differences between your city life and my rural one. If anyone should say less it's me, that's the second time recently I seem to have said the wrong thing...I apologise sincerely S

Everyone has been so busy, its lovely to read what everyone is up to, and the varying trials, tribulations and triumphs that keep us going !

Caterina you do NOT have my permission to reduce your posts! Nor does anyone else lol! I dont think Sparrer meant it in a bad way, I think she was marvelling at how much you are able to do - Im so jealous! Its good that you are having such a lovely and varied life hun!

(*editted to see sparrer confirmed my suspicions!)

Welcome to all new comers too, pull up a chair, and be prepared to get addicted to this thread!

    1) Let the girls out to have a scrat around again, and they are getting WAY too brave! You get to the gate and its like a Harrods sale stampede! They are legging it so far up the mountain, I will need breathing apparatus to retrieve them soon! (ok slight exageration but you get the picture!)

    2) no rain for 2 days! Good job, as I was worrying about how high the Loch was getting!

    3) Not all the seeds I planted drowned! It seems I have some "neeps" poking through!

    4) Discovered great British menu is back!!!! They are doing Scotland atm so its even better!

    5) Attempted a mixed bean casserole in SC, made using some beans I recently won in a hamper :D:D:D ... (what will happen when I use all teh hamper stuff up! I will need a new way of sneaking it in!) started this morning and smells alright! That will be the veggie special for the next 2 days, then staff dinner on the 3rd one! :D

  • Today has been good so far, despite not going to bed until 6am this morning :o

    1. Had bacon, sausage, beans and tomato for brunch. Nom!
    2. Went trekking to the post office, but wasn't too bad as the weather was so nice!
    3. Came home, changed into some shorts and lay outside in the sunshine reading magazines :) Can't believe how pasty I am though - I look so white!

Evening all :) well I'm home after an eventful day. Just posted this but not sure where it went. Went to the GP and ended up being taken to costa del NHS by the little green men with their big yellow taxi, nebbed up to my eyeballs and PEF taken every few mins.... so on that basis, my pleasures might be a bit NHS heavy...

    1. ESCAPING! lol Doctor ummed and ahhed about letting me go, whilst she was doing that I had got my coat on and was ready to leave. She said I could as long as I came back if my chest got tight again..... normal normal blah blah but escaping is definitely a pleasure!
    2. Seeing it's still light out and hearing the birds roosting in the trees. Makes me feel like I haven't missed the whole day
    3. Drinking real coke- bought a small bottle on the way home and it was such a lovely treat!
    4. Watching Greys Anatomy tonight. I think I have finally caught up on the plot so looking forward to it's next update.
    5. Update on next door..... It's all gone quiet but whoever was gutting the house yesterday has literally thrown all the rubbish in the garden and it is as high as the hedge there and that's about six foot! I hope they come and pick it up soon. No idea where the family are but the pleasure today is: They aren't there to spit in my vegetable garden (yes I know gross) and steal my milk and orange juice! Hurrah
Well, I'm off to read everyone pleasures and order in some chinese food! Can't face cooking tonight!
Have a good evening all :)

With the aid of lots of I/profen and P/cetamol I am moving about more easily today and this evening I am sitting almost comfortably - this morning I wasn't, so there's progress.

    Today's pleasures:-

    1. Stripping everthing off the bed that comes off and getting it all washed and dried in lovely sunshine.

    2. Making up the bed again with it's summer bedspread - looks very inviting, can't wait to get into it tonight.

    3. Making iced buns, the yeasty variety, used to do these loads year's ago, but this is the first time for ages - yummy.

    4. Lots of sowing and planting.

    5. Coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and evening dinner all taken in the summer house.

    Sparrer yes Henley in Arden.

    Evening all,

Hope you have been enjoying the sunshine! My psycho former cleaner is now claiming that I didn't pay her!! The cheek of it! At least I got my key back from her... I was fully expecting to come home to two dead cats and a ransacked flat!!

Sparrer - I don't quite live in Stevenage... rather just over the border in sunny Bedfordshire.

    1) No dead cats or ransacked flat!

    2) I popped out at lunch time with one of the PA's from work to buy my boss' leaving present... we got her the most gorgeous matching blankets, bibs and bits and bobs from Toys r Us. I am a sucker for anything with teddy bears on and these were just too cute. We spent far more than we should have and I am sorry that I am not going to be in the office tomorrow when she is given them.

    3) My friend in Australia telling me how much she respects our friendship even though we have not seen each other in a good few years

    4) Leaving the office at 6pm :) though I did forget to dial into a webinar at 6pm... oops.. and by the time I remembered it would have taken me too long to log back in

    5) I have been invited by the MD of one of our businesses to attend a dinner next week with all the big wigs, clients and potential clients... note to self... don't guzzle the white wine before anyone has even sat down to the lovely 5 course meal!

    Night night...

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
