Quick pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Work went OK. So many people away at the moment! Put my foot in it in a sever sort of way. :-/ One colleague was unhappy and I said, "Well, at least you've got our staff curry to look forward to later this week". Yep, she hadn't been invited...
3) Went into town after work to have a cup of tea with my school friend.
4) My new insoles came through the post! Plantar fasciitis seemed able to tell that the old ones were wearing thin.
5) Bigger son had a lot of tests at school - one (allegedly) counts towards his history GCSE. He said they were all OK today.
6) Watched Holby then bigger son watched First Dates with me - one of the programmes we both really like.
7) In bed now with 1 hwb. 2 days left at work...0 -

And now for today's messings from BoP!
5 Last nigfht was a cribbage night with BoPsie. loads of pegging going on, and BoPsie was so close to winning a game as it pegged out during play. She got to within one hole of the finish, at 30 for two, laying an ace, with BoP trailing by six holes! BoP, being an ace type of person, laid his second ace on the trot, to get 31 for eight! Game over. As this is a card game, BoPsie resisted the 52 card shuffle! BoPsie remains only one win away at Scrabble from the chance of two on the bounce. No wobbleades were taken.
4 Just read in the paper that blondes are more cleverer than we thought. I has asked BoPsie, who is blonde, for a Monroe this evening. Film on.
3 Just had homemade cheese burger, topped with tope nailed onions for lunch. Rubs Tum.
2 Night BoP will be excited! See above! Something will have to happen as England cricket is about as much use as the chocolate teapot!
It is with hindsight we can see how tragedy can be averted.
Every day I believe more in Mr Tickle!0 -
Thank you mhags
, anti-b's and steroids gradually doing their job, got up and dressed today. A mob of kangaroos surrounding your car, I have a picture in my mind of a kangaroo flash mob except I don't think they sing - wonder what noise they do make?
1. Boaty got my vote - there has to be a little light-heartedness in the worrying times we live in so I, like thousands of others, think the name is just right
2. As above, up, showered and dressed this morning. Had to as it's bin day but definitely feel better for it.
3. Yellow thing - again feel better for it. My thanks to the operator of the switch
4. Chicken soup. No more need be said.
5. Easter cards sent to distant DGC with pennies so they can choose their own eggs. Lovely postie took them for me. Some traditions must never be lost.
Enjoy the rest of your day0 -
1) Cookie and I have just been along the footpaths and collected some hazel twigs and I've hung my little wooden Easter Tree decorations on them, it's pretty!
2) Met Sue and Charlie retriever half way round unexpectedly and walked a while with them, very pleasant.
3) Met a dad with a small one in a pushchair and a slightly bigger one on the footplate who wanted to know why 'that lady has all those twigs' so I explained about Easter Tree decorations and left them planning to get some and make one for themselves, spreading the culture, can't be bad.
4) DD1 rang at lunchtime to say hello as it's the last half day of term today and she's finished until mid April, teachers so need a break it's been a really tough term.
5) Got my Easter cards and presents sent today and hopefully they'll arrive at their destinations before Easter and make some young friends of mine happy!0 -
Good morning from Thursday, I normally have a Thursday off but working today , shift swapped though . So not starting until 11am. I woke up super early but managed to doze for another hour.
It still seems strange to me to have easter in autumn. It's such a springtime celebration, I put up my new ( bought in sale last year) easter bunting and my little eggs, I need to get some twigs . I also put out my little wooden rabbit. Regulars here may remember 2 years ago when my children all decided they were too old for my shenanigans, so last year I did not do anything, OH and I took ourselves out with the dog for the day. Normal service will resume this year, I don't know if you have seen Mary Berry Easter show on BBC2 iplayer , I should make my children watch it so they can see why it is important to me. Although not the actual date as it changes every year, today marks the time when OH was first diagnosed with cancer. It was on Maundy Thurday in 2012 ( was the 5/4 ) I am more than thankful that 4 years on I can still write about what we do together.
Wednesday was a mild day, cool to start but didn't heat up as forecast, not cold but certainly not warm . Mild....first time I've said that in months!
Hospital for 7.30am ( left at 6.20) .....along with everyone else given the same appointment time. Seen around 9.30am and discharged from that clinic ...hurrah! That's an achievement.
OH went to work, I took tram down into city and then waited for a train home, I did consider having a mooch around shops but there is really nothing I need or want so didn't bother.
Home and spent a relaxing afternoon doing nothing much , wrote a couple of emails to friends, watched some telly and snuggled with my dog. Laughed with the older 2 children who were acting like an overgrown 4 year old and 3 year old. Then enjoyed some peace and quiet for an hour whilst everyone was out.
Made rather tasty lentil soup for tea and an upside down mixed berry cake which apparently was delicious and I can make that again. Was going to be pear upside down cake when I looked in cupboard they had been eaten....frozen mixed berries to the rescue.
Right Id better get a move on. Have a good night0 -
Some pleasures for last couple of days,
Spent Monday evening with my DSIL and nieces, sharing precious memories of a very special person, doesn't seem possible that it's six years.
Went for a walk Tuesday lunchtime around the small lake in middle of business park, enjoyed the sunshine and daffodils and it put me in right frame of mind to face more hours sitting at my desk.
The green blush appearing in the fields around the house, all of a sudden everything is growing like mad.
Popped over to Mum's today to do some chores for her, she has made us a Simnel cake, just in time as Christmas cake was finally finished at the weekend.
Last day of work tomorrow then long weekend :T0 -
My pleasures for today
1. Fresh coffee this morning.
2. Getting my ID badge for my placement.
3. Chatting to work colleagues.
4. Craft club - more chatting.
5. Watching TV and more crochet done.0 -
Wednesday.
How did I put my foot in it at work today? Class had a talk to go to for one lesson, given by someone from an outside agency. I saw my colleague (we'll call him Simon and pretend he teaches French) and I said, "What a pity I've got to go to this silly talk and not be in French". He looked a bit startled and said, "Oh, would you rather go to French?"
Off I went into the talk with 30 children. In comes "Simon" and the talk lady said, "Hello again, Simon, so good of you to arrange all this every year"...
Anyway! 5 pleasures for today!
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Last day at work for children; training day for me tomorrow.
3) Had free cake at break time.
4) Bigger son got on well building the hen run.
5) Played football with smaller son then we walked down to look at the allotment.
6) Pheasant casserole and dumplings for tea.
7) School friend phoned then so did my brother. Couldn't straighten my phone holding arm out after that!
I told my brother about poor Simon and his talk that I had been rude about. He went one better today. He met a couple that used to live in the village. The wife had an affair with someone very well known locally in a position of trust (lets say it was the local doctor). He lost his job due to the affair and the couple moved away.
Anyway, brother said hello to them then said, "Oh, we've got a new doctor now, he's just started!" then realised what he had said and added weakly, "Erm... he seems nice..."
8) Last day of term tomorrow!0
