5 Welcome to another day of thoughtfulness from BoP. You know, you listen, and bloody ignore! So here we go anyway. This morning was started with another bowl of Monster food, guaranteed to keep you on your feet all day. Toast and full pipped raspberry jam and real butter, stored outside of the fridge, was spread on toast. Rubs Tum.
4 Emergency tour of town carried out, where a bacon and egg banjo, including free range bursting yolk was spread everywhere. No spill, and tea enjoyed. Rubs Tub.
3 Just having a Jaffa cake and another cup of tea, because I am, so! Again, we have a Rub Tum.
2 Night we shall be listening to the Lord as he preaches from Guiseley. There will be no mention of them man who cannot do chips either!
Before you can dig the foundation for your life, you need a solid foundation in your heart. Then you can start to play your life, knowing that your feet are firmly on the ground and your head in the air.
  • 1) The lovely people in the pub who own Cookie have got He Who Knows and myself tickets to the last rugby match of the season at the club where DD1 lives, from Cookie to say thank you for her walkies every day, how smashing is that???

    2) Washing dried on the line outside again today, love how it smells fresh when I get it in again.

    3) Found some YS Gravadlax and avocados in W8rose this morning, luxury food at affordable prices, yummy!

    4) Spring is definitely springing down here, the flowering currant bushes along the footpath have put out flower clusters, the blackthorn is covered in white blossom and the mature p u s s y willow trees are silver with catkins, so pretty.

    5) Saw a kestrel hanging on the wind over one of the wilderness fields on our way back into the village on the afternoon walk and had two buzzards floating on the thermals and calling to each other as I put the washing out in the garden this morning, just love birds of prey!

    1. Five days in the IoW where the weather was warm and the sun shone the whole time.
    2. Lottie behaved beautifully and drank only one tank of fuel for the whole round trip. She's certainly not high maintenance!
    3. Visited old friends of the family, spent long hours reminiscing about our childhood and schooldays over warm crab salad followed by plum cake with local Cheddar - the best times of my childhood and the best food on the island.
    4. So good to sleep in my own bed last night, it must be one of the top 5 OS pleasures on the list.
    5. Laundry done, bag packed again for my trip to Lancs on Thursday. Thank goodness I have enough clothes to do two long weekends away in a row.

    Sweet dreams :)

Good morning, it's Wednesday and pleasantly warm at the moment though to be hot later.....I'm being industrious now Rather than attempting to later when it's too hot.

Pleasures of past few days ,well.....

Went to school eisteddfod last night, 6 school houses all put on a 12 minute production of a musical. Most were good, some better than others but as always I'm amazed at the talent and confidence of kids that get up on a stage and just do! The house that won deserved to.

Just been a walk to post office with Mr Haggis to post a card. Very pleasant morning.

Took DD1 to hospital to get her stitches removed from her foot, in and out in a few minutes and no charge for this appointment....it's been a very expensive ,non refundable month for appointments. ( some things we have private cover for but moles on feet and dodgy hips are not! ) again, just thankful that it was just a mole.....bit of a an odd one but just a mole.

I'm just going to replant my lemon tree in a big tub . The other lemon tree seems to have some disease and hasn't done much.this one has flowered , which gives me hope for a lemon one day!

It was a public holiday on Monday which I worked and ended up staying on an extra 2 hours as it was mad! Then I started ( on my day off!) at 5.30am-8.30am yesterday as we had a catering event. I thought it would be just me and the train driver at 5am but there were a good few people on the train at that time.

My car broke down as I was driving to work on Monday at 6am , thankfully I managed to pull in to the side, thankfully it was a public holiday or I would have had another car in my boot as it's usually a madly busy road. Thankfully my husband was off and came and rescued me! Car started later ...but I'm not feeling the love for it!

I bought some new shoes for work yesterday, wearing them this morning, so far so good but my feet never really like new shoes...so shall go gently!
They had $20 off them which was great then got to till and had another 50% off! Fabulous!

Ampersand I hope all is well with your world at the moment .

Frith I'm enjoying your tales from the allotment, chickens would be exciting! Our next door neighbour ( of the slightly odd variety) stands and smokes at her back door which is where our veg patches are , we all hate smoking and it makes us disinclined to go round and garden there.

Right I'd better get a lemon tree planted!

Ooh I'm editing to add amother, the outside blinds which have been down for 4 months to give shade have been lifted ! We have light in the house again! Hurrah!

    Pleasures for today (Tuesday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Work went OK.

    3) Went out for a cup of tea with my friend in town.

    4) A mad dash to get a new school bag for bigger son (his held shut with a shoe lace for weeks!) and a football for smaller son. To cut a long story short, this involved tackling the one way system and running to DW sports just as they were locking the shutters then driving randomly and spotting Sports Direct on the other side of the dual carriageway! Got there in the end.

    5) Boiled egg and soldiers for my tea.

    6) Watched Holby City and First Dates.

    7) Have been reading more of The Thread by Victoria Hislop.

Some pleasures for the last few days,

Both mornings walked out to my car for drive to work and heard the sky larks over the fields.

Lunch out with work colleagues on Monday, the job is bearable and so was the lunch, am making an effort to be sociable if only for my own sake.

Warmer days but cold nights, brushed cotton sheets on bed makes it particularly cosy to get in to.

The roses that received for Mothers Day from the animals are still beautiful with no sign of decay, few drops of lemonade in the water help.

Baked potato for tea last night, crispy and fluffy, with real butter and strong cheddar, perfect.

The last episode of Happy Valley, worth the licence fee all by itself.

Note - Captain Scarlet in mourning today, RIP Sylvia Anderson, thank you for many happy childhood memories.

LYN, I too love the birds of prey. We have been lucky enough to have kestrels nesting in one of the beech trees for the last couple of years and the parents taught the youngsters to hover / hunt in the field behind the house. Just stood on the back doorstep, transfixed at the beauty and agility of those tiny hunters.

5 Welcome to another day of thoughtfulness from BoP. You know, you listen, and bloody ignore!

Not me, i love your words of wisdom - they stop me in my tracks for a moment, which is no bad thing.

Frith - thanks for the reminder, i too need to sort out my raspberries; well done on the tory councillor argument (mainly for not hitting him)
Mrs LW - Donkey sized labradoodle sounds worth a see; OH got very excited for the last 20 mins of the England Wales game (we support Wales, you see - though "we" isn't really me (I couldn't give a monkeys one way or t'other), but it makes for a more peaceful time to hope for a Welsh win); your knowledge of wildlife astounds me, i wish i knew what things were; how lovely about the tickets
    Skint - glad you are enjoying the new car; good luck to DS for the job;
PK - also hoping for good news on the job front; hope you are feeling better
Shellsmithcat - welcome, hope you are feeling better; chicken and paprika stew sounds lish; a soak in the bath and clean bedding should have you feeling better
Lainey - I also have love Happy Valley, don't think i breathed for an hour or so last night; Does CS want to come and remove our wasps nest?
t14cy - i would love some chickens...... OH don't want them though... :(
Mhags - send some warmth this way, purlease; the list of wildlife sounds amazing, i can't imagine seeing all that on a three hour drive - I am especially fond of Llamas and did ask OH that, if i couldn;t have chickens, could i have llamas (or alapacas) instead. The reply is not printable :rotfl:
Village life - I love daffodils (maybe it's the welsh thing again :p); Lasagne and apple crumble - bleurgh, i'd have had them separately :rotfl:
DD - so lady donates 60p to you and you donate to Marie curie, something nicely cyclical in that...; I still have hopes for my friends same sex wedding - but no sign yet :( I haven't been to a wedding for 12 years (maybe because the last 2 ended in separation ); hope you've recovered from CTM
    BoP - crumble making here too (more in a mo); oh and re your PM, it's my bloomin house at the moment. More on freezer in a mo;
Susan - welcome back, I am trying to steer clear of boot fairs due to Konmarie, but may have to indulge in one or two over the season.
Vicky - LOL at the girlfriend, always a worry if they've been hidden away for a while - no one met my brother's girlfriend for about 5 years
Giddy - Avocado is one of my favourite things,
Sparrer - you do get about; sleeping in own bed should be a default OS pleasure every time..

Phew, what a lot of catching up

    Pleasures since thursday

    1. Got my bracelet back from the jewellers all nicely mended. It is my favourite of the jewellery given to me by my favourite auntie. One bracelet is now a ring i wear on my thumb
    2. Nice walk by the sea - has to be done.
    3. Soak in the bath with Agatha christie while OH watched the rugby (it's a big bath :rotfl:)
    4. Finished Agatha on the train home - it wasn't the butler what did it.
    5. Finished the last bit of marking from old job :T and i will get paid for it :T:T
    6. made some reusable cotton rounds from a brushed cotton sheet from the chazzer (50p); it means i don't have to keep throwing away cotton wool
    7. went out for a meal with OH in Aberdovey. Was quite eye wateringly pricey but worth every penny. Managed to do it by train though, so saved on taxi fares (we don't have a car in ice cream town)
8 Gorgeous bike ride on Sunday - 20 miles along the country lanes and then by the sea. Saw lots of nature - buzzards circling, new calf, birds having a chat and 5 lickle lambs having a race. Stopped for a coffee (from the flask) in the sunshine half way round.
    9. DS was ok on his own for the weekend, but hadn't done the washing up  I was very good and made him do it.
    10. Tom Hiddleston's bum :p
    11. Discovered on Monday that DS had turned the freezer off ; he had washed his school suit and turned the double plug off as the WM beeps. the pleasure is that it wasn't that full, having been run down of late; I was able to transfer some stuff to the other freezer (yes, BOP - other freezer :p) and spent the afternoon cooking gooseberry and apple and blackberry crumbles. Other stuff we had for tea yesterday and i only threw 2 things away. I didn't tell DS off, having done very similar things in my time, but i did point out what he'd done so it doesn't happen again.
    12. Finally managing to get stuck into a book on social theory, after watching some YouTube lectures on same and beginning to "get my head round it".

Have a good day all, i need coffee to kick start me....
I wanna be in the room where it happens
