1) Conversation overheard when walking the hound this afternoon between a small child in a garden and his mum about making mud cakes and 'Mum they're lovely and sticky!', what a lovely surprise!
2) Scotland have beaten France. WOOHOO!!! great game!
3) Meeting Peggy the Pug this afternoon who towed her mum determinedly along the lane at speed until she caught up with us, awwwww!
4) Birds with beaks full of nesting materials all being very industrious and busy.
5) The fact that mowing lawns is contagious, He Who Knows did ours while I was out walking and when I got back at least three other folks in the neighbourhood were out mowing away in the sun.0 -
1. Brought in washing from line - not warm at all, but a good breeze. Hung out another load to freshen up. even if they've to be finished off on the Dri-Buddi.
2. Had a nice long wander round the car boot sale. One the vendors had a tableful of CDs and PC games and was telling people to take them away free! Filled a shopping trolley and two large bags with his encouragement - to go to the C.S.
3. Helped OH go through some of his winter clothes for donation and fell heir to a couple of things that will do me as house clothes (ie no need to worry if they get stained or ripped)
4. Found OH's wind up radio - thought it was lost. He's now all set for music in the garden without using up batteries.
5. Otherwise just enjoyed having the day off work ...Looking ahead0 -
Good afternoon everyone!
Just back from a couple of nights away in London, watching England v Wales with my parents. Even met my brother's girlfriend for the first time - they've only been going out for two years. Shockingly, she was perfectly nice and normal. Who'd have thought eh?
So, pleasures for the past few days:
1) Time with my parents and brother (and DH). Surely this is the best sort of OS pleasure when you spend time with loved ones, whether they're family or friends? (NB: I evidently didn't spend too long with my brother, otherwise this would be slightly different :rotfl: )
2) Started to read A Thousand Splendid Suns, as recommended (and lent to me) by a friend. Great book so far.
3) Rock Choir was great! Getting to know a few more people and I'm actually feeling that, after 6 years of living in the area, that I'm beginning to settle!
4) Bought some peppers from Tesco, one of which was mouldy. I complained via Twitter and have received a £5 money card. Duly used today.
5) Stuck to my shopping list 3 times in a row now. Makes quite a difference. Oh and I've used various vouchers too.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Good evening everyone.
Haven't posted for a few days as just haven't been in the right frame of mind. Have enjoyed reading everybody's pleasures though.
Here are mine for the weekend.
1 - Weekend off work. Much needed and appreciate.
2 - Lazy Saturday morning as I was up a lot through the night.
3 - Sunshine both days.
4 - Egg and avocado on toasted muffins for both days breakfasts. Nom.
5 - Read my book super quick as I really got into it. Not sure what to read next.
6 - Been looking for a new handbag for a while and saw a tan satchel with polka dots for £3.50 in the local hospice shop. Looks like it's never been used.
7 - Got to have a go on a potters wheel for free today. I didn't do very well but OH did. We've paid a small amount to get his fired and will be a beautiful blue colour when we collect.
8 - The pottery place was next to a beautiful priory so we had a lovely wander around that.
9 - The drive took us through some very quaint villages.
10 - Sold a few items so some more pennies coming in.0 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday).
1) A lie in!
2) Porridge for breakfast with blueberries and a banana.
3) Smaller son went to watch the motor racing locally with my dad and brother.
4) I had a tidy up.
5) Weighed myself and have lost a lb this week. Eating had gone to pieces for 3 weeks so I've some catching up to do :-/
6) Bigger son did his homework with little fuss.
7) In bed with 2 hwb.
8) Smaller son is in bed listening to a taped story my mum did for him. I had not realised he has never used a tape recorder before so I told him to press "stop" when he popped to the loo and he said, "No, it will go back to the start"!0 -
PM to VJSMUM.
What is a freezer!
5 Played Backgammon last evening, as playing Scrabble I always win, so to be fair to BoPsie, I let her win one or two. I still trail by 8 points. Huh!
4 Coupke of wobbleades were pored over!
3 Well done Scotland, Engerlands got the six nations! And no one gave us a cat on a hot tin roof chance either. Now for the cricket.
2 Day BoP is Easter egging. More later!
And another thing, just hang on!0 -
back to work to relax after yesterday's storming match at murrayfield
1) cleaned my bedroom - it's ahem been 3 weeks since the vacuum cleaner visited due to horrid cold then manic teaching, but all beautiful now
2) got washing out on line which always makes me feel good
3) glorious afternoon at Murrayfield. dd2 drove us in. took flask which obvs had to drink before going into stand, but that tided me over so i didn't need to buy expensive drink inside
4) lift home with gbf - his partner's friends live just behind murrayfield and he had parked on their drive. we had a cuppa before heading home
5) supper with gbf and his bf. They are getting cp'd in May, fixing date with registrar as i type. ExcitingMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

I know, going again, but this is a real pleasure. Vjsmum, cover your eyes.
Yesterday's Crumble, left on the side outside the fridge, next to the cheese and butter, is about to be warmed through in over, so the top is like crisp crumbling nuttiness, and a dab of Vienetta to top it off, is to be eaten,
Tums will be rubbed throughout the land!0 -
1) Another 'good to be alive' day out there.
2) I found the first violets out under a hedge in the village this afternoon, 2 little blooms of the deepest velvety purple, beautiful.
3) We went out for lunch to a new restaurant locally and had the best meal I've had in ages, He Who Knows had Japanese Rice with steak and I had sweet coconut rice noodles with tofu, oh yum!
4) Met two new dogs out on our walk today, a cockerpoo and a labradoodle both so friendly and good with Cookie who is very friendly too.
5) Butchers sausages in buns for supper, can only be good!0 -
Some pleasures for the weekend,
Having time to linger over breakfast instead of the usual mad dash that happens during the week, the coffee just tastes so much better.
So much sunshine, on Saturday it was slightly warmer but just lovely on both days.
Spending time in the garden, not doing much but just poottling around really, little sort out in the shed and general tidying up.
Captain Scarlet dug through the old compost heap and found the wasp nest that plagued us at times last summer, intricate thing.
Watched and enjoyed The Martian.
Unexpected point at Sixfields.
Seasalt chocolate and Pinot Noir, yum0
