Some pleasures for last few days,
Work is bearable as my supervisor was only in on Monday, keeping my head down and just getting on with.
Suddenly there are daffodils coming up everywhere, cherry little yellow faces.
Finished Robin Hobb's Fools Assasin, aim to look out for more of her books in CS's as thoroughly enjoyed.
Day off today and I had a lie-in thanks to Captain Scarlet taking the girls out for their morning walk, felt very guilty when looked at window at the pouring rain.
Took Mum to see the Dad's Army film which was ok but not as funny as thought would be but did smuggle in own water and snacks.
Enjoyed a YS meal of sagey pork chops from Mr Sparks.0 -
Good morning from Thursday' a hospital day so about to sit in traffic for an hour, find a parking space and then sit in a waiting room! Take a book Mhags, take a book!
Well, Wednesday was another day of far too much heat, our overnight temperature on Tuesday night was 30o so I don't think many people had a good sleep.
Got up and tackled a pile of ironing that had spilled over from last week so watched some UK telly whilst doing that, cleaned bathrooms, hoovered and generally tidier than it was before.
Took a bag of stuff to salvos , did pharmacy, post office, florist and bakers and each one chatted ( moaned about heat) with friendly staff.
Made a spag Bol for those who were dining in and then DD1 and I headed into the City on train. 2 of my lovely customers came on at work station , so they sat with us and we chatted to them on journey in.
We were off to see Dawn French in her show. It was really good and we both enjoyed it. Oh so high up in the dress circle though.....I know I'm not going to tumble down onto the stage but it felt like it! A very steep seating arrangement but it did mean we had a good view. Not the comfiest of seats either! I broke my coccyx 8 years ago and find sitting on ones bum for too long difficult anyway but these seats were just odd!
Home.....finally after a ridiculous chase round a station trying to find a replacement bus as there were track works going on, walking from our station to home , we were aware that a man was right behind us ( very quiet ) and were a bit alarmed when he stopped right outside our house. 11.45 pm at this point . We put 2 old sofas out on grass verge at weekend and advertised them as free to pick up. So he was there at almost midnight to look at them. It was all a bit bizarre and we wouldn't have known unless we were there but it was just a bit creepy. We all went to bed and just brushing teeth when Haggis went crazy with barking. So back through and OH went out in garden to see and it was just another guy with a van to take them away. So they've gone but a very odd time for furniture removal.
Rights I'd better get a wriggle on and go join a traffic jam!
Have fun0 -
Feeling fed up that it's only Wednesday as I'm getting another cold, having not finished the last one, and I just want my bed... But on the bright side
DD is being scrumptious, and I'd very excited for her party on Saturday and her birthday next week
I've booked her a fab party across 2 venues, so it'll involve the girls running!
I finally managed a rare nsd today
Enjoyed cake for a colleague's birthday
Plucked up the courage to tell the head that I'm looking for a school closer to home as I need him to give references as and when
Have an application ready to go and am going to visit another, very rural, school tomorrow afternoon0 -
Hope you like the rural school tomorrow, Kittikins (there were 19 at my primary school!)
Pleasures for today:
1) There were 7 schools shut in the county today due to flooding. 4 of them were primary schools very local to us. One was the school where I work! So an unexpected day off, probably much needed by everyone after the events of yesterday.
2) Cleaned and tidied the bedrooms.
3) Went to Ludlow and found trousers and 2 t shirts in the charity shops for bigger son.
4) Parents for lunch and brother had made roast pheasant.
5) Went to the allotment where brother replaced 2 fence posts for me.
6) Tasty tea plus apple and raspberry crumble.0 -
Pastry aggression. The mince pies are to be thrown!
5 Dog Pot dilemma. Does it sit and grow fur, and be eaten tomorrow as we are having home made tossed pancakes tonight. Or should it be ridden from the stove tonight! Last night the chilli maturity level was hot. Not piping hot, but hot!
4 With that, what next.
3 Watched Chelski last night exit from a tin pot competition. Had Buck of Face really up to date, as a posting from big Arsenal bean appeared saying they had scored. It only took 24 hours to reach my Buck of Face!
2 Night is SCC. Will be out and a outs.
So what if it does, but help if it cannot!0 -
would never have thought of mixing apple and raspberry for a crumble frith shall have to try it
1) meeting on main campus, took flask due to uni no longer providing refreshments at meetings and wanting to keep pennies spent to minimum
2) Colleague there from medical school, so got a lift back in her flash sports car
3) gbf came picked me up from work at 7 (I had taken supper as well as lunch)
4) we walked the dogs (he lervs the dogs) and walked round some possible areas for my next abode
4) then we had cups of tea and borders ginger-nut biccies (mothering day pressie from dd1) and tried putting the world to rights. as you will have seen we haven't managed yet...MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

1) YS Coquilles St Jacques in M&S today for half price, going to be supper tonight, yum!
2) Lovely doggie walk this afternoon with the Cookster meeting old friends and pooches and also some new pooches and new friends, very pleasant.
3) Trip to town enlivened by sitting with a village friend and trip back home enlivened by sitting with a WI friend, lovely.
4) The pleasantness of young folks who always say thank you when Cookie and I step into a driveway to let them past on their bikes/scooters/roller skates never fails to make me feel better about life.
5) Dry weather here today and the prospect of a dry, warmer weekend to come and maybe being to get out into the garden for that cup of coffee in the sun I'm longing for!0 -
BoP has just tossed a batch of pancakes, one flips, with proper lemon, oranges, sugar and cocoa, that means it will be four day vintage mature chilli Dog Pot for tea on Friday.
