  • Evening everyone!

1 - Later start today so stayed in bed that little bit longer.
2 - OH went for lunch with my dad and they both popped into my work to see me which broke up my day nicely.
3 - Got a beautiful gift today which was totally unexpected and put a real smile on my face.
4 - Couldn't face making much for dinner so veggie omelette did the trick.
5 - Brought home some treats for OH as he starts a new job tomorrow. Think he was chuffed :)

Quick pleasures today as I am tired.

    1) A good sleep - hoorah!

    2) Went to Malvern (for a change) to get some new curtain wire for the curtains that go round smaller son's bed (in a blocking everyone out, 4 poster sort of way). Lovely Wilkos - got various other useful bits.

    3) Popped to Waitrose for lunch and accidentally bought new herb plants and a chilli pepper plant for the windowsill.

    4) Got mum the new floor length nightie she wants then went to hospital to see her. Morphine and oxygen gone. Infection arrived so antibiotics. Nosebleeds from the ng tube (think she finds that tube the worst thing). Still no food (day 5) and I think this is going to be a slow recovery.

    5) Had a soft tyre on the car but I pumped it up and it has stayed up so far.

    6) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    7) In bed now with 2 hwb and going to find something on the radio to listen to.

I was catapulted into Monday moring when I woke up hearing birds sing and I realised that it must be later than it should be when I get up....an hour and 20 minutes later ! Aaaargh 6.20am! Washed, dressed ( trousers on inside out first of all....couldn't find a clean work teeshirt so wore a plain black one! ) dog fed, porridge made for OH , work teatowels shoved in a bag and out the house at 6.30am! Had planned on going for train but took car and I hate driving in the rush at that time. However, in on plenty time for starting at 7am and still got a free all day parking space.....think I was still in shock an hour later!

Had a good shift. Made carrot cakes and some rather delicious savoury muffins.

Home! Traffic was horrid, was almost home before I got up to 4th gear! Slow, slow, stop, slow.....all the while thinking this is why I was going to take the train!

    Watched Call the midwife

Making chickens pie for tea ....just waiting on spuds!

Pirate Pete are you going to let us know Bopsies user name so we can send a friendly wave ?

2 days off ahead ( busy ...just for a change! )

Have a good one, off to mash some spuds :)
  • 1) We went to the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum where we have membership and spent a lovely morning walking round in the woods, fields and buildings there.

    2) Came face to beak with a totally fearless little wren in a hedgerow which completely ignored the fact that we were a hands width away and spent several minutes just hopping about, being a wren, magic!

    3) Lunch out at my favourite garden centre on the way home for a nice Jacket Potato, yum.

    4) Just walked Cookie and it's so warm outside today that I had to undo my coat, utter bliss!

    5) A lawn we pass regularly which today is covered with tiny daffodils, snowdrops, many colours of crocus and lots of clumps of primroses and is 'chocolate box pretty'.

    Some pleasures for the weekend

Picking up my Mum on Saturday morning, the weather was sunny and clear and it was a nice drive through the villages.

Took her over the yard to see Bill, she fed him pink lady apples whilst I gave him a good groom. Despite being around horses most of her life she can still find their size intimidating but is reassued that Bill does keep out of personal spaces, for a big lad he is really quite gentle.

She had made me a toffee fudge birthday cake, yum :rotfl:

On Sunday morning we went for a snowdrop walk, a big house in the next village open their gardens a few times a year, it was lovely to see the flowers but bloomin cold and I was quite pleased to get back home in the warmth.

Leg of lamb and apple crumble for lunch, more yum.

Lazy afternoon, watched Philomena which was sad but uplifting film.
  • Evening all!

1 - Super productive day at work. Everyone did so well.
2 - Split shift so came home and had a yummy lunch of egg on avocado toast.
3 - OH enjoyed his first day in new job.
4 - Nice catch up with mam on the phone.
5 - Many, many cups of tea!

Not long had a discussion with smaller son that men don't HAVE to marry ladies who propose on 29th February!

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Work not too bad.

    3) Went to see mum after work who now has NO TUBES ATTACHED! She has walked to the loo today and to the window. And tonight she had a small amount of soup (testing the join in the mended bowel - ouch!) Brother and dad were there then also my sister. Saw her husband and my niece later as they were in the park waiting.

    4) Healthy eating had gone out of the window and 7 lbs put back on from the 15 that I had lost this year. :-( So made a tray of cornflake cakes in consolation and back on it tomorrow properly.

    5) In bed with 2 hwb and about to put the radio on.

And a forgotten pleasure over the weekend.

Booked the YHA in Brighton some time ago but had chance over the weekend to book the train tickets- what a palaver to get the only ones each day that DON'T go through London - saving lots of time and money. Have to change at Reading and Gatwick instead. Also booked tickets to SeaWorld and the Pavilion. And train tickets to Pevensey where I worked, decades ago. Excited now!

Hola from gran canaria, where we have come for a bit of warmth and sunshine. It was 23 degrees yesterday, nearly at my fave temperature of 25 (it used to be 22, but it's gone up). DS has weird holidays so this is his second "half term" week.

Happy first of March - my favourite day of the year. Even though it can be cold, I always feel that winter is over:T

    Pleasures since Friday

1 first deadline met and structure of lit review gone in. There's lots of red ink "must put something about xxxxx here" but I think they'll see where I am going
2 made a veg curry out of pretty much nothing, very much past its best veg out of the fridge, some bits from the freezer and a rather old onion, it was lush :D
3 DD came home for the weekend, love her. She was laughing at us cos first I, then OH, showed her where the wills were as she hasn't come on holiday with us.:rotfl:
4 went to see dad, who was rather chipper. We shared a bottle of wine for the first time in ages
    5. Lots of walking on Saturday, was very tired by the time I got home. Tried to get some library books out but couldn't as uni policy is that you can't take any out for the period of time a book was late :p. I'd sooner have paid the fine, but I guess it's one way of telling me to check my return dates
6 good flight here. I am not the worlds best flyer but even I couldn't be stressed on that one.
7 sun sun sun, and warmth. I am not too interested in tanning, but I do like to feel that warmth on my skin, recharges the batteries. We are only here till Friday (I know, your heart bleeds)
8 tapas for lunch at a beachside restaurant, went for a walk along the prom. It was a bliddy sight warmer than when I did it at dads on Saturday :rotfl:

    Have a great day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Good morning , it's Wednesday and to be another hot day so I thought "get up early make birthday cakes, whilst it's still cool enough "..only problem ...no flour! I always have flour' I always a have a well stocked baking cupboard! Seems not this week, so I need to wait an hour until the shops open! Anyway, said cupboard is now clean! It's had a wash and a tidy !

My Tuesday was a busy one. Up early ( couldn't wake up in time for work on Monday but day off? No problem ) phoned friend from home and had a good catch up.

Popped into Salvos , looking for something I'd seen on Friday but it's gone but bought a rather nice red and white dress half price and put a hold on some furniture, will go back in with OH today.

Just home, just sat down to have breakfast when DD1 phoned , her bus hadn't come in time , could I run her to uni.....'spose so!

Then back in and had to get ready to go back out and for me to take a bus to uni, to meet her. Popped into old work , saw old boss , had a nice chat with him and got a bottle of water for free. I'd forgotten to take mine, not a good idea on a 35o day. Vjsmum...I hear ya ! 25o would be rather pleasant!) then we took a bus to another town. Then we walked and walked to a small hospital. She has / had a mole on her foot that has now been removed and sent off for testing. It's a bit dodgy looking and she was very brave getting it biopsied, then we did the return journey back to uni and she went to her 3pm lecture! I caught another bus and then a train and then went to library , borrowed 3 books.

Then made a chilli for dinner in slow cooker, only OH was home about an hour and half earlier than normal ...it was pleasant enough but could have done with a bit longer.

Today is another day filled with appointments and so much to do! Back to work tomorrow for 2 days and then off for 2.... You can do it Mhags !

    Have a good evening!
