Good morning from Monday....start of a new week and 5 more work free days!
Madly busy weekend at work and my aching bones agree. Did 11 hours straight on Saturday with a very brief sit down for 10 mins when OH and Haggis popped by to say hello. We have a new lad working who seems very nice but at 6'5" , I'm cricking my neck to talk to him.....I think I'm now officially the shortest , short @rse who works there!
Pirate Pete it was indeed White Night in Melbourne in Saturday .....I saw the stragglers walking home as I drove to work early Sunday morning. It runs from 7pm-5am and the city is transformed by light displays .
Had a nice meal with my husband last night. I had chicken , he had fish then we popped to supermarket and just bought milk, eggs and fruit and that was it , that was all that was needed to top up.
I have a busy week ahead , lots of appointments and an exciting Wednesday and Thursday planned . So I shall have more pleasures to post....I never really have many on my working days!
I bought my usual weekly posy of flowers from local florist and she gave me another one for free that was past its best to sell but perfectly fine in a vase in my front room! Thank you !
Have a lovely evening.....eke your weekend out a bit more0 -
1. DD helped me with some school admin that I'd been putting off all week
(Shame I'm now doing some marking that I'd been putting off all week....ah well, I'll think of it as breaking myself back into work mode
2. Had a frustrating afternoon when DD and I drove to our 'local' pool (about 8 miles away) only to find that it was apparently full and we wouldn't be allowed in for 45 minutes, which would have meant we'd have had a very short swimHowever, lots of cuddles, a quick stroll and juice and cake helped ease DD's pain a bit....Poor DD, she's had a very dull half term....
3. Cooked another fabulous meal (sorry, it's such a novelty to me!!) and have prepared a delicious, if rather mild for my taste, vegan Thai curry for tomorrow. All daddykins will need to do is cook some rice and I can rock up at whatever time I need to after doing school stuff and still enjoy the accolades of being a fabulous cook!
4. Low spend day....the caf! was probably cheaper than the swimming pool!!
5. My mum has new carers, who all seem very nice - and thankfully, the dog likes them too!0 -
Have been poorly since Friday night, bad cold with what can only be described as bone pains! :-/
Pleasures for yesterday and today:
1) Lots of sleeping.
2) Enjoyed Casualty.
3) Bigger son made samosas for lunch and pancakes for tea yesterday - from scratch!
4) Smaller son went in my dad's place to an estate dinner at a pub locally. Dad was too poorly to go. As smaller son said, "Grandma has phoned to ask me to go to dinner in granddad's place. Grandad can't go... because of his incest". I ensured a swift correction to abscess!!!
5) Managed to get school bags ready for tomorrow.
6) Went to mum and dad's for tea. Dad has a bad tooth which needs to come out but they are reluctant to do it as he takes so much warfarin. No one seems to know what will happen next but he's on painkillers and can't chew.
7) Watched World's End tonight.
8) Back in bed now with 2 hwb. Can't believe I'm back at work tomorrow.0 -
[/I]dd - you say Unwell. Are you sure you haven't been here?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thearchers/entries/4040a47c-1d4b-4bcc-98d8-01a628f28230DD raw swede for lunch, tuna and balsamic in the filing cabinet - waiting with bated breath for No.3. Just curious as to how you mistook a heavy round swede for your packed lunch, unless you were going to take a melon!
Well done on the rugby villagelife
Good news on the health front skintyetagain
Bad luck bop, COYH
1) church friend came to do a talk at the medial school about her experience as a transwoman with prostate cancer. she is absolutely brilliant, fab mix of fact and humour. still can't believe she's nearly 79, though as she told them, 3 years into transition she's a teenager really
2) Friday night made a beany shepherd's pie, using the infamous swede mashed up with potato on top. nom nom
3) dd1 home for lunch saturday. 'sadly' she doesn't eat tomato and xoh doesn't eat swede, so i got the bean farmer's pie and they shared pierogi
4) sing-along sound of music with 3 mates from work. i went as a hill alive with the sound of music (brown sheet topped with old net curtain with notes drawn on it). excellent fun
5) church this morning. wasn't planning to stay for lunch but friend rather down so the two of us went to a very nice cafe. not too pricey, and we had a good chatMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Chit chat with friend from home.
Discovered I've grown an inch ! Was at GP this morning and she measured me and somewhere along the line I'm taller than I've thought I was past 30 years! May be the sunshine! Not such a short @rse after all! Amongst other things I've asked for referral to chat stuff over re OH being ill and all that stuff ! I feel it's a positive move.
The overly tall son had his uses and took down the net curtains in my room so I could wash them. I hate net curtains but they came with the house!
Slightly crazy next door neighbour left a pile of trashy magazines at my front door so I took them to GP surgery.
Made salmon for people who like fish and macaroni for DD1 and I who don't.
It's been very warm and humid today but tomorrow its to be 41 o....how awful! Early start for hospital tomorrow .0 -
Morning all
On the train going to ice cream town for a few days as ds is on a two week "half" term break. His school works a strange holiday pattern.
Hope all the poorlies feel better soon.
DO re the swede, I once took a lovely container of chicken stock for lunch at work.
Pleasures since Friday
1 made great in roads into my literature review. Got a handle on where it's going now

4 bit hungover yesterday but got through it. At least it made me finish the marking as I wasn't up to much more anyway.
5 OH cooked yummy sausage casserole for tea. More freezer stocks gone.
6 last night's telly. Call the midwife and the night manager. Excellent viewing.
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Afternoon everyone....well not exactly OS, but very much a pleasure!
I have recovered from some hideous virus that knocked me off of my feet for a few days.
1. A nice brisk walk with the dogs and a quick clean and tidy around before work.
2. Homemade packed lunch and just savouring an orange (think chin dribbling juicy)
3. Updated spread sheets and transferred a bit more into my ISA
4. Pleased to see the work book/magazine swop club seems to be working well.
5. Wrote 5 new lists (I know, I know, but I just love a good list)Well Behaved women seldom make history
Early retirement goal... 2026

2) 39 species in flower on the Cookie walk today including.....the first bluebell!!! also the young leaves are out on the hazels and a few hawthorn bushes on sunny corners have put out vivid green little leaves!
3)Found some YS caramelised onion and goats cheese tarts in M&S today, ooooohhh scrumptious.
4) He Who Knows handed me a cuppa as I walked through the door at lunchtime, bless him.
