Enjoyed watching rugby yesterday. A great win first in a few years over Sarries. Atmosphere was good too.
Long conversation with friend on the phone - putting the world to rights.
Seeing DS1 and he has two interviews next week which both offer more pay and longer holidays. One of them is in his field as well.
Managing to declutter and recycling stuff and have bag full to take to charity shop.

Morning all from my bed. Waiting for dh to waken up so I can have tea. Don't want to wake him.....

Thanks DD, I am so excited :j
Thanks frith, he is on that anti B now. We will see....

    For yesterday

1 emails, ploughing through ploughing through. Not a pleasure to do them, but is a pleasure getting through them
2 walkies with OH. Along the canal and through the fields
3 DS went into Birmingham with his mate and then to the footie. I worry that he spends so much time alone so it was good to see him out
4 begg for brekkie, sourdough pancake for lunch with banana. Very yum. I have been reading my recipe books so am looking forward to a bit more variety, having got very fed up with the same old food
5 out for a meal with OH and DS to celebrate the maths success. DS requested it which was great. I had pheasant, lish....
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Morning everyone,

    1. A lovely brisk walk with the dogs and...... no rain!

    2. Veg prepped for Sunday lunch

    3. cinema later with OH and DD, I only go 2 or 3times a year, so I'm looking forward to it.

    4. Finally read the Kong Marie thread and now have 'rolled' towels in the airing cupboard....

    5. I've noticed a few very ripe, ok overripe bananas, so I shall make banana bread later to use them up.
Well Behaved women seldom make history

    Early retirement goal... 2026

    Reduce, reuse, recycle .
  • VJsmum /Frith my DS was given Lymecycline by the Doc in 2011 but it had no affect on his acne so he was referred to the specialist at the hospital who gave him Roaccutane and that cleared it up in no time. Came with a very scary leaflet and list of side effects though  but he didn't have any problems and has had clear skin until recently when he's started to get one or two spots on his shoulders/back and neck again.

mrs motivated would you share the recipe for corned beef crustless quiche... sounds delish !

    Pleasures for Saturday

    1. cleaned the bedroom windows and had them open for a while to let some fresh air in. Hoovered upstairs as not been done since before xmas :o

    2. Dyed a pair of summer cut-off trousers - the trousers came out a lovely chocolate brown ... however the curtains I put in with the trousers only went from light blue to dark blue :( not sure where I went wrong there ?

    3. did pulled pork in the slow cooker, was only a small joint but stretched enough for me and DS for dinner last night and two more meals

    4. caught up on some recorded TV including Father Brown and Death in Paradise ... entertaining nonsense for a rainy afternoon

    5. lovely rainbow at tea time when the sun managed to poke its way through the rain clouds for a short spell of yellow stuff

  • DD, 21 eh lass. That's a plus there!

5 Now BoP raided the emporium this morning, and it was a right good old trolley grab I know. Chicken was coming off the shelf fasting then they were going on. Now BoP could had wasted his penny on ready stuffed and herbed carp. No, BoP got three for a tenner! Money saved! Stuffing made to secret BoP recipe. Jam will be served with the chicken. Go on, you know you want to!

4 While making the Stuffing to a secret recipe, Raffles unfortunately got elbowed. Well, he tried to sneak up on the blind side, but BoP far too quick for him. Think he knows that a bird is waiting for him. I know, but BoP places cooked chicken out for the birds and cats when finished. It saves food waste.

3 That's dinner sorted then. Buzzard, Roast tatties, Carrots, Cabbage and toe nail onion gravy. Blackcurrant Jam for the chicken breast. You're dying to try it?

2 Night BoP is heading into town. Wobbleades may be procured. BoPsie has warned me that there is a Thunderstorm advisory. Whatever that is. Perhaps I will get wet!

Keep patience and things will be good for you. Remember if you smash the egg, you will not see the chicken!

Thanks VJsmum - when I stop to think, I'm rather proud of myself and appreciative of all the support I've had and still have from family, friends (in RL and here :) ) for the changes I've made to my life since the dark days when I'd write 10 horrible things and struggle to find 5 good things. Redundancy really was the best thing for me!

    1. Still wading through the marking and finding something to celebrate in each child's book :)

    2. Took DD out for hot chocolate and cake after her scholarship tests yesterday, we found something incredibly funny and it's a wonder we weren't thrown out of the caf! for being so raucous! :):)

    3. Had a lovely dinner with my friend, and thankfully I had met the other laydeez before, so it was nice and relaxed. Scrummy food, lots of laughs and celebrating the "new start" of N, who has had lots of SHTF situations herself over the last few years and who is rising like a phoenix. She's an inspiration!

    4. A relative I'd never met before turned up on our doorstep this morning with flowers for mummykins (who's ill so not able to receive guests at the mo) and we had a lovely chat. Hopefully she can come over for tea soon so we can get to know her better.

    5. DD is out at her first netball match of the new year, I really must get on with my work so we can have a lovely afternoon watching a film and cuddling!

kittikins. - ditto and likewise on the redundancy thing, can be scary at times starting again but liberating too, especially when hear horror stories coming out of ex work place.

    Some pleasures for yesterday,

Faffing about at home, something so harmonious about the cottage getting back to normal after all the festive celebrations.

Bit of tidying also done in garden, cannot keep up with food being eaten by birds and they are so tame now that are quite happy to be on table whilst I'm around.

Lovely, chatty hack out on equine pal. We went en masse including 3 year old Daisy who has only just been backed, surrounded by her horsey friends she stepped out like a trooper. Gorgeous girl at 16.2 and still growing, her owner is 5ft nothing :rotfl:

Roast chicken dinner as Captain Scarlet is off to WHL for the footie today, might have opened bottle of wine too...

Caught up with first episode of new Luther, good job Lainey had cushion of power protection, scary scary.
  • 1) A better sleep last night, not deep sleep but when I did wake up I managed to get back off again, much better state of affairs!

    2) Processed one of my £2.25 bargain pheasants this morning, the breasts are waiting in the fridge to be made into pheasant curry with lemon rice for supper tonight and the legs, thighs and carcass are currently simmering away in a substantial game soup (more of a stew really) which will feed the two of us for a couple more main meals if I serve it with a great heap of mashed potato in the middle of the bowl. Pretty good for £2.25 and some home grown veg and homemade cider!

    3) Lots of showers today which have resulted in lots of rainbows, really pretty.

    4) A nice long morning shower of the bathroom variety, love having a shower and until this time last year we didn't.

    5) Have sorted out the fridge and had very little to put in the bin after Christmas/New Year. A YS hummus that had got missed at the back and half a pack of cooked meat that was sitting on top of it. Lots of odds and ends of cheese to use so lots of cheese on toast in the menu for a while, what's not to like?

LT. In the Book of BoP, chapter 17. Verses 16-17

And be put with poor sleep, blackout curtains were to hang.

Keeps you sweet, even if the birds, did sang!

    Emergency edit.
I has just checked my Rosemary roast tatties, and they look del. recipe available on request. BoPsie said we could have bought some on the reduced aisle. Other muppet foods are available.

There's going to be a carve up shortly!

Frith - congratulations on the weight loss :j :j :j

Kittikins - fingers crossed for DD's scholarship.

Very little school work to do this weekend as I did loads of it during the week. Feeling quite virtuous at the moment.

    OS pleasures:

    1) Been to a few classes & made the most of my gym membership. Unsure how to use one of the machines (despite having been shown on a few occasions!!!l), so I asked the nice young man to show me how to use it. :D All signs are pointing towards me having lost 1lb in the last week. :j :j

    2) Made a pea and spinach soup for some lunches this week. A friend gave me the recipe. Think this batch is a little watery, but never mind. It's currently cooling and extra portions will be put in the freezer.

    3) Had a lemons in the fridge, left over from Christmas/New Year, which I'd normally have binned. :o I read somewhere about slicing them up and freezing them, so they can be used in drinks (gin & tonic) as and when, without the need for buying a brand new lemon, not using it all and binning the unused bit.

    4) DH is doing the ironing. Always a pleasure.

    5) TopCashback payout. :j :j I save all the payouts up and it pays off a membership each year.
