Evening all
Today has not been my day......
Broadband is back, engineer came in, picked up a cable and said "who unplugged this?" put it back in ...... and it worked.:o I think it must have been loose as BB been playing up for weeks and something made it fall out. Oh dear, I really was
Earlier, I had cut OH's hair with the clippers, he handed it me to go back over it for sticky out bits and - you guessed it - no one checked that the guard was back on. it wasn't :eek: Result was one stripe up the back of his head :rotfl::rotfl: Oh dear. I was horrified. So, after a number 1 all over it is a bit more blended. I shall do it again at the weekend and the weekend after and it should be ok.
So the good bits
1. It's only hair and it will grow back
2. Cracking through the emails
3. Friend came for coffee - didn't even have to tidy for her.
4. Left over roast dinner for dinner
5. The best one - DS finally passed his maths GCSE :T:TI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Had a huge clean and tidy and de clutter today.
Didn't wake up until 9, could hear the birds chirping.
I made cinnamon blueberry and banana muffins.
Heating finally fixed after a month of it being broken.
Candles lit, the home smells lovely.
Cat has been following me around all day, currently laid beside me.
Having a lovely cuppa with a hot water bottle, watching Dikensian0 -
VJsmum - that's a Big Bang Theory plot, that hairdo! Well done, DS, on the maths GCSE.
Pleasures for today:
1) Rubbish sleeps really this week, but have not felt tired.
2) Work passed. Have had to work 4 lunchtimes right through.
3) Have done a bit of tidying - cleaned cooker, 2 loads of washing etc.
4) Went swimming with sons and my brother. Swam 500m then played water polo for half an hour.
5) Tasty tea of salmon and pasta then yesterday's apple and blackberry crumble.
6) Am listening to sons talking in their bunkbeds. They rarely do this anymore as they are plugged into ipods and laptops for a while before going to sleep. They are giving each other renditions of Oh Come, All Ye Faithful - no idea why!0 -
Celebration idd frith I am working on my escape plan with dd2 as my confidante. Still raining, looking like it ain't never gonna stop
1) didn't get too wet nipping next door from work to doctors. Hooray for the NHS
2) lunch pasta, rest of ys sugar snaps and hm sauce hooray for the work microwave
3) family meal for 5 at Italian grill including non alcoholic drinks, 5 mains, 2 sides and tea/coffee after ws £79.80. I had a voucher for £10 off for every £40 spent d'oh. Asked if I could order something to take us over. Voila, one Coke meant bill £8.50 less. Hooray for thinking mse and having the nerve
4) dd2 went down to station to get train. Cancelled due to flooding. She phoned and gbf was in kitchen drinking tea. Asked him if he's mind giving me lift to staton to pick up dd2, by which time chap at ticket office told her previous train delayed and she might still catch that. Which she did. Gbf's partner arriving 20 mins later so we sat in car park chatting till he arrived, then lift home. Hooray for gbf's
5) walked ds back to his flat with dogs. Saw several christmas trees still glittering. Was lovely to see their cheerful lights at such a gloomy time so hooray for those who didn't pack away all the decorations 12th night (Henry 8 time they stayed up till candlemas)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Hi all, long time lurker here, making 2016 the year of my OS Pleasures! Hope it's ok to join in...
1. Lovely sunny day (I'm a Brit in Melbourne Australia- hi Mhagster!)
2. Visit to the local farm. DS (4.5 years) held a rabbit, DD (1.5 years) was vastly unimpressed and refused to stroke anything! I think she actually liked the chickens best!
3. Made 2 slow cooker lasagnes today which were super yummy, made up of 500g beef mince, 500g pork mince, loads of grated carrot, courgette & oats. Then...
4. Took one round to my friend as she's just had a baby. Mila was born on New Year's Day! She's tiny but so cute, she looks like a little old lady.
5. My hairdresser, also a very good friend of mine, came round for a cuppa & a big natter. No haircut for me though as she is expecting her 1st baby any day. Lovely to see her looking so well, & to share this exciting special time with her.
6. Hubby got home from work early (he's a nurse & can often work long hours) so we all got to have dinner together, then we had Kitchen Disco for a while; the kids' dancing was so cute & funny! Then I had an extra pair of hands to bath them & put them to bed, which is a huge treat for me! Off to bed together shortly for Netflix & the Christmas chocolates (they were selling English Quality Street in one of the supermarkets here for Christmas so I was very excited & happy about that!)
6 Pleasures on my first day, a good start...0 -
Welcome Mrs White.
Haven't posted in a while but will aim to a couple of times a week.
Christmas was different this year but hopefully it's all been sorted out now and am determined to be more positive this year.
Today the sun is shining and been out and let my chickens out and walked round the garden and picked some daffodils which are now in a vase making the house look more cheerful.
Have cleared the hall and dining room already and started on the kitchen.
I met a friend for a drink yesterday before she returns to Hong Kong and it was great catching up especially as she's now staying out there for another ten years. It should though give us time to save up and visit them.
DS2 has recovered from his cough/flu he has been ill with a high temperature for a couple of days. He is being chatty but is back to uni at the weekend and should be doing more work on his dissertation.
Still have a mountain of chocolates and biscuits to eat mainly all presents. I will find some recipes probably to help get through them -failing that I'll take them to work.0 -
Frith. Beginner. Me and the currant BoPsie have been together just shot of thirty years! And still together. Murderers get less.
5 Now them mince pies BoP tested for you yesterday. They are carp. Even the birds have refused to take the,. Or maybe that's Raffles in the yard.
4 Linch today, BoP has done proper crunch sandwiches. Pure Crab with lettuces, toms and cucumber. Rubs Tum.
3 Was at the camera club last eve. Put my winning photos inn again. Having loads of seconds and thirds this season. This time I am taking the slate!
2 Night is film night. Think I am inn for a Monroe. Nice. BoPsie ne'er stands for these!
Where two people are connected by the heart, it pays not when the squeeze, but also when they please.0 -
1. I was stressed as anything today about an appointment with an Financial Advisor, to discuss problems we are having with our mortgage provider. DH and I had all the paperwork went through everything it took 3 hours and they completely put my mind at ease, my stress has gone, but I was exceptionally worried, the mortgage company have messed up, we have documented evidence, we can continue on and officially complain.
2. One of the animals wouldn’t leave me alone during our meeting above, I swear they could pick up on my stress.:o
3. Really happy with a few NSD days up to and including today, coupled with no diesel days too really lol.:D
4. Food planning is going well and factored in for a takeaway or caf! stop tomorrow, tonight is fajitas:cool:
5. Clean bedding on, bedding in the wash, a couple more boxes unpacked into the bedroom from redecorating, looking forward to that from bath to clean bedding feeling tonight.
6. Remembered to grate and split into bags/freeze a big chunk of YS mozzarella.0 -
1. Yay, week 1 of term is over! All in all, a pretty good week, especially compared to the hell of last term
2. Funny moment when one of my class wrote in RE that an angel should come and visit me to tell me that I'm going to get married as "it will make Ms Kittikins a better teacher"!!!!! They don't quite understand the concept of happily divorced
3. Cuddles with DD, she's excited about her scholarship exam tomorrow!
4. Her school is going to be opening a 6th form centre by the time she gets there, phew! I was hoping they would(just have to hope I will still be able to pay for it!)
5. Going over to a friend's for a dinner party tomorrow (fancy! normally it's just dinner, but I think she's invited more people for a more sophisticated soiree!)
6. A slightly odd one, but am not feeling too hacked off that I've brought home lots of books to mark - must be a week 1 feeling!0 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
11 years single, BoP, not 11 years married!
1) I'll echo your number 1, Kittikins! A busy week and I've had to work 4.5 lunchtimes out of 5, normal duties and to cover a member of staff who is away.
2) Had my annual review appraisal thing at work and it was quite different from in my old job! That was 100% criticism and impossible target setting while this was about the bits you like and how to train/deal with the bits you don't like.
3) Survived the icy conditions driving in. Roads ungritted, as normal. :-/ Did one skid, smaller son's taxi was all over the place trying to get into the next village.
4) Went wassailing at parents'. No one was really in the mood for the outside bits, though there was a good bonfire.
5) In bed with 1 hwb and about to see what is on iplayer.
ETA - 6) Have lost 8lbs since 28th December!0
