Little while in - long enough for 3 rising tones+'This no. is not recognised. Please check and try again', 3 more times after this a.m.'s 2>enzed, then suddenly[like mhags]

1........was speaking to Scottish Aunt, circa 1725h sud of you. All fine there. Not so famberley box. Unlikely to arrive before next year is latest transit newds. & harbouring bopsprout love for Courier after £100-ish paid [as per usual] for whirling 15.4kg box of nowt across the Mighty Seas. 'Okay, sorry about that but we can expedite it, get it there for 25th...bit of a surcharge...'[ransom money. Last year it was there a fortnight early] And that surcharge is....... £343.xx :eek::eek:cba looking up the pennies. No, thankyou. & won't use you again.

    2. Drop Off day, round 2. Uni friend. We do crimbo naff+nice mix, so all in a BIG bn+t Coronation Street bag. 'Pass the Pud' still hadn't arrived, but nasty little AAA Batteries WERE Included, stuck to card, horrid portent of embarrassing, environmentally unfriendly things to come:-) Of course it arrived after & left, learnt later, taken in by neighbour. Friend's mid-40's daughter, over from Portugal, has not worn anything but an amazing re-purposed tunic dress left by & last week, in case. Had a feeling about it:D...

    3. Cedar Lodge carrots collected and & looked up, around, to see whence cometh The Voice. New crypto-swank houses are being stuffed in near the racecourse. He was indeed 'Up On The Roof', tiling away, doing amazing things solo with The Pearl Fishers' Duet.

    4. Clumps of daffodils all out at Surgery. T'ain't right, but guiltily good to see. Blossom everywhere. More rhubarb up here. New flowers on far raspberries.

    5. Sharp swing right, double serpentine bend+bridge, stand on brakes. 14 adolescent[only just]cockerels and girls, banties, basking in road, very fancy golden+rainbow breed, emerald black tails. Hazard lights on, jumped out, played 'One Woman and her Phil Drabble', match to your 'Champ-i-onnnnnnnnn, the Won-der Hoss', Lainey[came right back to me] Imagine the delighted reactions of those rounding bend and seeing blutty woman with car stopped, right there. Shoo-ed them back unwillingly through trees. One lady said it's always happening.

One Lert - Lainey: Mr T fuel closes 4 Jan, re-opens 25 April. Knockdown. Re-build. Extra pumps.

MIA - Anyone seen mcc? Hope all is well.

Lay Odds, Even Money - crimbo bits>Spain will beat October birthday dittos, still en route.

vjm - devoirs: [STRIKE]taste[/STRIKE]test drive report reqd, merci :-)
No, not L'au-to Jaune. I'm afraid you've just lost/I]hear that preening smirk? Do you want to be Caroline or Martin?[IOh, what a shame!'

& McC is alive and well in the land of FB, maybe just a busy time of year to post on here .

Have had a morning of much screaming ( of the terror variety) red back spider on my patio chair , large (huge) but thankfully dead spider of the large and huge variety on the patio and then another large but harmless one at the outside tap. However, I realised only me and the dog around , so had to deal with them so dog didn't eat them. So much squealing and muttered swearing ! Patio chair is now over the gate in the driveway still with dead red back attached. Husbandly person can deal with that later! Yikes!

    Pleasures for today (Wednesday)

    1) Up by 8, but that's still a lie in compared with a school day.

    2) Bigger son worked beating all day - free lunch and tea plus £25 and a brace of pheasants for us.

    3) Smaller son and I played football and got niece's Christmas present.

    4) Had lunch in a pub with mum and dad. Bowls of soup and proper chips.

    5) Went to play board games with my brother in law during the afternoon. Niece (11 months) is besotted with smaller son, especially with his hair!

    6) Back home and pheasant casserole for tea.

    7) Went swimming. It has been closed for repairs for several days and there was a warning note pinned up that it would take "days" for the temperature to rise back to normal (and normal isn't great). So we did quite a lot of swimming, very fast.

    8) Neighbour from 2 doors up left a jar of marrow chutney for us.

    Pleasures for Thursday

    1,. lovely sunny day

    2. met friend at the range for coffee and had lovely morning chatting as hadn't seen her since september. Had a wander round but not many bargains unless you wanted lots of broken stuff

    3. hoovered and did last bit of ironing

    4. popped round to see another friend in the afternoon for a last catch up before Christmas. This is her first xmas after losing her mum earlier in the year so was nice to give her some support

    5. huge moon when DS went off to work. Did someone say its a full moon tonight - hope the skys clear enough to see it - I think we have more rain forecast

Taking it easy today (as usual :p ) DS has ordered some last minute xmas presents which should be delivered today so I will wait in for those.

It will be a strange xmas day tomorrow with DS coming in from work about 8am, cooked breakfast and present opening and then he will be in bed for most of day, but he will emerge about 4pm for Christmas dinner !

Have a happy and peaceful Christmas day everyone, whatever you are doing, wherever you are :xmassign: and thoughts to those not seen for a while MCc & Dr C, CCP , Chicken, DfV & LfS... Merry Christmas to one and all x

    Nearly.

5 We are heading for Christmas Disaster this pear. Only one toilet roll left. And three closets! I have had to peer elsewhere for advice! Not only that, but this morning, BoPsie tells me we have enough stuffing to feed the world, but we are having salmon!
We have three toilets in BoP Towers, and only one complete Bog Roll left. Which bog should I put the roll in.

4 Just had Ham, home roasted, onion mushroom and tom 3 egg omelette. Lovely. Rubs Tum. And the Crackling. Nice, Rubs Tum!

3 The ham is so nice, Raffles has gone off his food, and is sat in front of the fridge. Now, I has done the Chicken Tikka bits, in natural, not greek, yogut. lemon, chilli, termites, chilli and coriander. Will be toasted later, served with home made pigs in blankets. Finger rolls ready for the ham bits with toms. More late.

2 Day we ares offs to outlaws. They are Villians. I will try not to mention that they are doomed to relegation! Rolls over, larfing!

'No comment' is a splendid expression. I am using it again and again.wc

    1. Christmas brunch preparations

    IMG_1528.JPG

    IMG_1529.JPG

    2. Wrapping - feeling smug as this year I just got DD a handful of presents and have 'opted out' of gifts with everyone else. Think this year I've only spent £150 on the whole of christmas which is about 5-10% of what I used to spend

    3. OH is coming home early today He has a half day and has been so tired lately I'm so happy he has these few days off.

    4. We're going for a walk later Not happened yet but I'm looking forward to it

    5. We're going to compensate for the walk by drinking a zillion calories in Prosecco, Baileys, ale and wine tonight  Cheers!
  • Sorry all! Family. Christmas preparations. Gruesome realisation that Amazon prime want people to deliver to. Opticians crooning has all three sons glasses (ah, all three presently out cold & unlikely to respond warmly/gracefully to "wake up for the eyeball encore") etc However!

    OS pleasures recently
Christmas curlers with glorious scarf spotted, showing that the preparation can look as spectacular as the results.

Hearing my mother's delight at the flowers us daughters have clubbed together to sort - even a modest kitty operating strict MS principles & coordinated by smartphone snaps is achieving a very happy result!

Three cuttings have buds! Out of lots, but there's still plenty of time for hope.

The Material Girl played our town & since I dislike the anticipated hassle to traffic, I left work In Daylight!

Not quite a pleasure but my throat is sore so there is a distinct satisfaction at getting out the ginger syrup I brewed a month back. [Gargling with TCP Worked. Cost ridiculous, taste Utterly yuck but throat back ready to face challenges of the season.]

Success! Got Tesco to replace ripped Bag for Life with new bag - assistant helpful not a trout. She's keen on Star Wars too. (Just How Old are we to remember when that first or fourth, came out?! And no, Still Haven't Seen It Yet. Ah well.)

Building lights reflected in the river - beautiful! Odd shapes resolved as tinsel moustaches curving on window frames.

May be unseasonable warm, but glad of my woolly hat. May try knitting mittens some time.

Just seen baby wipe pack with integral baby cream dispenser - genius idea (daft price but whole idea has me grinning)

An area of carpark is fenced off - there'll be a load test conducted & if it's stable, then a Big Crane will be sited there while railway bridge tests are carried out to see if it's up to HS2. [While I'm away. Pouts at missed Heavy Engineering!]

In tones of trenchant disapproval "this is chaos" - then son sat, emptied & reloaded the fridge to his (exacting) standards... The plural tubes of tomato pur!e have him bemused.

Longmire - can't help but be awed at that man. Great scripts, great rolling country, great acting.

The big building site seems to have shifted up a gear - more vehicles, folk, energy & apparently they have to hand over [last] weekend! I've seen a construction version of an essay crisis before.

LastDay of work this year! However laptop in boot of car, so extra ration of daylight while I go retrieve it. It will *not* contaminate my home over Christmas.

    Andy got Sports Personality!

"Odin with Hugin & Moomin" husband misreads carelessly & I am left rolling on the floor snickering wildly.... (To be fair, I was lounging on the floor already.)

Child observes van pull over, park up, douse its lights then reignite & move off. He opines it's an alien come to snatch specimens. (That you might pull over to thump your satnav seems to have escaped him.) As he strolls towards bed, he runs a defensive survey & declares "the mothership has left us". [Vile calumny - I'm sprawled in line of sight.]

Jekyll & Hyde "do you have any idea how unhygienic that is?"... [Er, you may have had to hear that to get the full humour - sorry!]

Whilst not ready for Christmas on several measures, it's still being fun. Best of all is driving past the last minute squad.

Great big hugs to all who need them, patience tolerance cooperative dice etc for all with family about them and where there is strongly worded disagreement, seperate the individuals & ply with cake. Should A&E be needful, take tins of sweets/biscuits/delices/cake With You. You may not be seen faster but you will be remembered faster.

    1. A fun afternoon with DGD1 her OH and the 3 GGD's. We played charades and consequences before a super sandwich, jelly and ice cream tea. They're planning to get married in 2017, how exciting!
    2. To Berkshire for a day with DB, DS-in-L, two nieces, two great nieces and great nephew. Wonderful hm roast, long walk with the dogs and back to mah jong. Good to have someone to play with, I enjoy the real thing much more than on the laptop.
    3. Day out with DD and DGD3, searching for a sc as mine has died after years of good service. Nothing big enough so have ordered one on line. Treated them to afternoon tea at Pat Val and took a slice of cake back for dS-in-L who doesn't finish work until today.
    4. A large box arrived from DS and family but I was only allowed to open one present so the rest will go with me to DD's tomorrow. Strict instructions not to open the square one in red/gold paper on the top, now I'm bursting with curiosity! Like many others in the emergency services DS working all over Christmas so I'm going up north to visit in the NY.
    5. 2 trifles almost made, they just have to be decorated in the morning, the fudge is setting, Christmas shortbread cooling, mint chocs drying and I'm sitting with a mug of broccoli and Stilton soup. I had very little broccoli so threw in some kale, it's delicious!

Have a super, safe and very Happy Christmas :)
