  • 1) DD1 making Fensterbuilders which are German card and tissue window decals that shine like stained glass, we made them when we lived in Germany when she was little and it's so nice to see a 37 year old revert to 11 years old again!

    2) Lovely piece of salmon reduced in the Co Op this morning and cooked for lunch today which we had with horseradish cream in a crusty baguette, delicious.

    3) An unexpected addition to the Cookie walk today, some relatives were staying with their cockerpoo a sweet little girl who who is called Roxy and white to Cookies black and we took her too, lovely, met many dog walkers out and about with dogs we knew so a very social time.

    4) A Christmas card from our nice postman through the door today, so nice.

    5) We went out and gathered greenery to 'Bring in the Green' and decorated the house with holly, ivy, mistletoe, holm oak, bay and rosemary and have scattered white candles in votives in amongst it, it's so pretty, MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE xxx.

    Some pleasures for Christmas Eve,

Early morning walk with the girls, blew the cobwebs away and good preparation for a busy day.

Off to the yard, pile of carrots mixed into Billy Eliot's next few meals, happy holidays darling horse. Quick meet up with stable pals, cups of tea in cold hands as by now lashing down with rain and blowing a hoolie.

Back home for quick change before out to late lunch with Captain Scarlet and DM, steak and ale pie in local hostelry, proper pub grub and not a wooden platter in sight.

Home, twinkling lights on, candles lit and posh chocs opened. Carols from Kings now on tv, DM snoozing in comfiest chair, Captain Scarlet nodding over his book and dogs fast asleep on rug. All is content and happy in Lainey's world.

Joyeux Noel dear folks, may your days be festive and bright xx

Merry Christmas from Melbourne, it's bright and sunny and to be another hot day. No one else is up yet....just me and my dog!

Christmas Eve spent with friends over for dinner, had hoped to eat outside but it was just too hot so all piled round the dining table.
Nice meal of lasagne, salad, roast parsnips and Rosemary potatoes.
Individual pavlovas with fresh strawberries, blackberries and raspberries and some white chocolate and strawberry cheesecake.

Given the most beautiful bouquet flowers and a box of homemade biscuits

Landlord came over about tree and gave me a bottle of wine and a box of chocs which was lovely .

Today we are heading to the beach with the dog and then having a barbecued christmas dinner. I could not face cooking a roast dinner in this heat so we are going all local!

Enjoy your celebrations and have a lovely christmas

    Pleasures for today (Christmas Eve)

    1) A lie in.

    2) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    3) Got the necessary clips and tape to mend the broken glass in the woodburning stove - for £1.50.

    4) Bigger son spent a couple of hours fitting the new glass for me. Looks good now.

    5) Smaller son and I went to church (!) He was happy to see mum playing the organ. He was not so happy with the shaky hand thing at the end but luckily it was mum and dad's neighbour in front of him who noticed his reluctance so grabbed his hand anyway, did a very over the top hand shaking them gave him a playful punch in the chest!

    6) Had yesterday's pheasant casserole for lunch then pasta with baked salmon for tea.

    7) Went to the newly re-opened shop for emergency mince pies. They had sold out but had some that a rep had dropped off and gave them to us for nothing!

Sons are now being rather awkward as they have decided they are not going to go to sleep (they have even told me this). Bigger son is threatening to go downstairs and sleep on the sofa. Not handy as Father Christmas has already drunk the sloe gin and put the chocolate coins on the floor and up the stairs. Father Christmas is now in bed waiting for them to go to sleep so the stockings can be sorted. :-/

& is in bed aussi but not with Father Christmas, Frith.
Sent him over your way a couple of hrs ago. Left him to lock gate after I left for Church. That would explain delay. He'd had a fair go at the spit of spey here, so hope not hauled over by the reindeer patrol. Mixing those 2 unwise.

Well done on many fronts, both sons of Frith- a pretty decent pair of young men there:-)
Oh, there he is now...yo ho how

A day of much heat, cool days ahead thank goodness

Chatted with DD1 whilst we opened gifts . Missed her today and felt sorry for myself this morning , she had written us all cards and they made me cry!

Breakfast of croissant and cheese and bacon.

Beach! Me in a cozzie in the sea!

Barbecue for dinner, first time ever and I think a new tradition for us.

    Back to work tomorrow

Have a most beautiful christmas whatever and whoever you spend it with x

got a bargain turkey crown( one of those fancy ones from marks and sparks, heavily reduced. its criss crossed with bacon and decorated with orange glaze) that is cooking in the oven.

had a lovely walk this morning to the riverside where we fed the ducks scraps of bread.

came home to a lovely Christmassy smelling house

drinking a mini bottle of Prosecco I was gifted.

watching the muppet Christmas carol on tv :) makes me smile

    Happy Christmas everyone
  • 1) Having He Who Knows and DD1 here to share the day, share the food, share the laughter and share the love, priceless!

    2) Chat to that Zebra on the phone when he made aeroplane noises and held his red aeroplane close to the phone to show me, unfortunately my phone doesn't receive or take pictures, that's my boy!

    3) Goose and all the trimmings for lunch was delicious.

    4) Nice walk with Cookie and DD1 this afternoon, saw many small people on scooters, bikes, trikes etc. on their first foray outside on a new Christmas present.

    5) Knowing DD2 and Son in Law are bringing the Zebra child up to stay for a couple of days tomorrow, all is ready and we're giving presents and having a roast beef dinner and just being family, that's best of all.
