Not been around much - was sick and crazy busy at work and home so just about managed to get through real life and work! Better now and Christmas stress over so back to normal (if there is such a thing in my life!!!)
pleasures over last few days:
1. Lots of family time - chilled Christmas day and games in the evening - everyone still speaking at end of the night!
2. Yesterday spent with friends-lovely day and no fallouts!
3. More chilling today -turkey soup and pie making and eating!!!
4. No sales shopping!!! Don't need anything so not buying anything!
5. Got to be a real nurse on Christmas eve (someone went off sick and we were very busy) - reminds me why I do what I do and how important and a privilege every day is! Think I might make this an annual present to myself!!! Very grounding!
More chilling tomorrow - dog walking planned and everyone warned so it will not be a surprise to have to get dressed!!!!0 -
So Sunday closes, drier than yesterday (not difficult)
1) slept in till 9 bliss. Dd2 kindly gave me a lift to cathedral
2) lovely service. The three sages half way down the aisle, set to arrive at the nativity epiphany. Remind me of the weeping angels!
3) invited friend back for lunch. He's split up with his bf of 5 years and just move back to Dundee :-(
4) he's the one who's the professional pianist, and played my Yamaha for a couple of hours while I read my xmas book
5) he also cleaned it, including removing the keyboard (eek) to try to ease the movement on one key. He removed the offending plectrum and piano now sounding better than ever. I have since played an easy version of nutcracker.

Some pleasures for Sunday,
A smallish lie-in to nearly 8am, Captain Scarlet sorted the dogs out for me.
Busy morning cooking ahead of the families arrival but still managed to listen to the A's omnibus.
House full of loved ones.
Hilarious games of Pass the Bomb, got sillier as the day went on and the teenagers forgot the need to be cool.
Now sitting on the sofa, comfortably tired but very, very content.
Lyn - thank you for your kind thoughts, means a lot m'dear x0 -
A funny day here. Do scroll past pleasure number 4 which is really a note to myself.
Pleasures for today (Sunday).
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to Ikea. Just bought a cushion cover and 2 Venus fly traps!
3) Went to see my friend who is quite unwell. Ended up sitting by her on the double bed watching a film. I said we were like Morecambe and Wise.
4) This is the weird pleasure. Decades ago, my grandparents died relatively young, within a couple of weeks of each other. I was 3.5. My mother has never got over this and we are not allowed to talk about it. She burned all the photos of them. Being the oldest child, I am the only sibling who met them and there are few people left who remember them now. To cut a very long story short, the years after they died were very confusing, as I did not really know where they had gone, or what had happened to them. I had quite a few nightmares about it, even one this year. Also, because it is right on the edge of what I can remember, that makes it worse still. Anyway, today I drove to their old house. I had not been there since I was 3. I used the satnav to find the road! I had always worried the house might be derelict. I went up the road and knew instantly which one the house was, even in the dark. I recognised everything about it, including the houses opposite! It made me happy that the house looks great. There was a Micra on the drive and a man was in the garage who called to his wife as he was looking for something. I stood on the pavement by the drive but found that about 30 seconds was all I needed. Also found this - not bad for someone who left school at 14 and was brought up by a teenage mother who was widowed young. http://pubs.rsc.org/en/content/articlelanding/1979/ad/ad9791600189/unauth#!divAbstract
5) Did various jobs this evening, changed the beds and tidied up.
6) Phoned my school friend so will be driving to Oxfordshire to visit her tomorrow.0 -
Evening all. I'm now on days off after another mad day at work.
New girl ( lady) is lovely and took over from me in the kitchen at 11am, so I got to spend rest of shift out the front, where I love being! I did manage to have some nice chats with some lovely customers.....tried to smile nicely at the not so lovely ones !
OH and DD2 came through on train and had a cuppa whilst I finished up.
Grocery shop had a $30 off with rewards programme.
Home and have started to put away decorations ...love to get everything up but love to get it all away too before New Year.
Have a lovely Monday .0 -
Mhags. You are far too early. Ours will remain till the twelfth night. Tut Tut,, you know which step to stand on!
Now that's over, who's next!
5 Good to get the hairs of the chest rustling inn the breeze! We wents out last evening and had a flagon of wobbleades. Lovely. Mr puniverse was inn as well. Now, I told BoPsie what she could have ended up with, and boy, did she show appreciation! Tip, It is no good wearing a sport vest, if you have a beer gut and no hair to boot! A life failure!
4 Had dippy eggs for breakfast with proper real butter marmite soldiers. Lovely. And then proper w8rz jam on toast! Sits, Rubs Tum!
3 New coffee table has stopped Raffles crashing into every thing. He is on BoPsie watch this week, as BoPsie is feeding neighbours moggie. He is not impressed at all. He is following her and making sure he gets the attention as well.
2 Day, PM2DD.. There are Derby's, there are handbags. But today, thye mariners are thumping the imps. The only derby to attend. Mum BoP attended one in 1957 at the bus shelter of Sincil Blank. Dad BoP told her the last train to Alford left soon, and she was forever mega because she left at 1-1 and missed three goals, all to the mariners.
No matter where you live, city or town. Country or village. No matter how you travel, by car, bus or train. Everyone else is a slow pedestrian!
Nothing more to see here now, move along the bus!0 -
1) Playing silly walks with that Zebra, he was plomping one foot down harder than the other so I copied him' he giggled and the next thing I know is a small hand into mine 'Oma same' said a small voice and we silly walked many circuits of the house past hysterically giggling parents, so good!
2) Lovely walk with DD1 and Cookie this afternoon along the footpaths and lanes then down to the river, it was lovely to get some fresh air and exercise and have some quiet time too.
3) We're having bubble and squeak for supper tonight with a poached egg on top, one of my favourite meals.
4) Watching Zebra and His Opa have running races up and down the garden, then Opa was giving him wheelbarrow rides and Zebra spotted the watering can and they then had to water the pots of pansies together, oh so lovely.
5) Looking forward to a much earlier and hopefully longer sleep tonight, pickles seem to surface at 6ish and much hilarity ensues until he gets his 'weetbix' and blublies (blueberries) and wee wee fruit (Kiwi fruit) so it's easier to get up and join in than lay and listen. Love him sooooooo much!0 -
MrsLw I just love the joy in your words when you write about you little Zebra, There is nothing as special as a grandchild, mine also give me so much pleasure no matter that the youngest is now 15. They called me Grandmas Dragon as our paddling pool games could get quite out of hand and they would douse me with cold water to try to put out my 'fire'! Somehow it doesn't sound as much fun in type!
Saw a muntjac in the headlights, flashed an oncoming car and we sat and waited while it made up its mind which way it wanted to run off. It must be the season Frith
I see I have a a 10 year badge today, happy birthday to me
Had a quiet at home day catching up with housework, I feel more comfortable when it's done.
Just settling down to watch Gogglebox with a bar of Prestat and a cup of EG. Sadly I can't eat much chocolate as it makes me cough, the pleasure is it keeping for another day.
Sweet dreams0 -
Quick pleasures for today as it is late.
1) A good sleep - until 10am!
2) Various texts and messages from people.
3) Tidying still underway.
4) Went to see my friend in Oxfordshire. Wanted to stop for a sandwich on the way and, completely by chance, picked what was probably the nicest pub for miles around! http://falklandarms.co.uk/home
Had a turkey sandwich there with about 5 chips.
5) Visited my friend in her new and even prettier house in a small, Cotswold village.
6) Watched a bit of Gogglebox on plus1 as did not get back until quite late.0 -
1. MrsLurcherwalker's tales of the lovely Zebra remind me of DD - not just at a similar age to Zebra, but just last week we did our Monster Steps around the house, to the bemusement of my parents
Thank you for sharing tales of your lovely grandson, you sound like an awesome Oma x
2. Frith's granddad was definitely a man to admire - "Punctuation was a passion with him and it was rumoured that he had a drawer in his desk full of commas, colons, hyphens and dashes." Fantastic
3. DD and I are enjoying a staycation near Bath and are going to Welsh Wales later today (really must try and get to sleep soon!) in a few hours to see a fabulous friend and former colleague.
4. We've made our favourite, marble cake, to take with us, nomnom.
5. Had a quiet, but quite fun Christmas. Zebra slippers were my second best present, DD's necklace to me was definitely the best
6. Introducing DD to the delights of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on CD is so much fun - we both want a Babel Fish now! Looking forward to listening to more in the car on the way to Welsh Wales!
7. Have bought some hopefully useful things in the sales online - a piñata cookie cutter included!
8. 2 weeks' worth of maths planning, 3 weeks of homework tasks and nearly a week's English planning under my belt. Phew! Not bad for a lazy holiday.
9. Relaxing and having fun during the holidays as well - a much needed re-charge of my batteries after last term.
10. Enjoying cooking whilst house-sitting as I don't get to do any at home (annoying story...).0
