Still wish I could trace an early enzed colonial one, with tuis and bellbirds in the paroles, taught by Mr R. Hewitt, our brilliant music teacher. All I have is the memory of its being beyond beautiful with melodious tumbling/soaring chorale harmonies, matching native birdie flights/songs.
2. Apparently this has been continuously in print since 1st edn 1981 - Beth Gutcheon. New to &. Read through night till finished a bit before 4bells.

3. Found something worryingly lost for a month. Still feels wonderful, great relief. Too well-cached :-)
4. vjm - addition of cranberries and walnuts to your ganache is sensational recommend. Rolled in big kick schokolade dustbath, even better.
[esp. when listening to last night's Cabin Pressure. They were playing The Game..... Book went down for 1/2 hr]
5. Perfect timing connection with someone today. Still on track, doing well.
More timely good news re: someone on mse.

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) A lie in! Sons woke at about 11am.
2) My brother brought round my Christmas present - a truckload of logs for the fire.
3) Tidied up the garden while bigger son tidied out his shed. Noticed my wild strawberry plant has come into flower. :-/
4) Did bits and pieces in town and found an extra (reduced) present for smaller son. A lava lamp (to replace his that the dog broke) with Star Wars tiny X wings and other ships that go up and down with the bubbles!
5) Had a game of football until it got too dark.
6) Pulled pork for tea then mince pies.
7) Started the pre Christmas clean up including the bathroom.
8) Brother came round and he and sons played on the Wii.
Annoyingly I broke the glass in the stove door this evening, something I've managed to avoid since moving in. Have another one on order but will have to get the glue and fittings tomorrow :-(0 -
BoP. Reporting live, drinking tea inn w8rz.
There is a large queue at the entrance, please be patient as I have the space near the door. My breakfast is ready.
Enjoy
I am afraid, the car park is now full. Ah, sips tea. Such a pity my car is parked at the door. Snorkers are delicious
I am now having toast and marmite. The lass is the black car of Germanic extraction has been round twice now. Rubs Tum.0 -

Off to meet a friend for coffee this morning at local store cafe - I must admit I begrudge paying for coffee when its so cheap to have at home in comparison, but DS is in bed hes on night shift so I don't want to disturb him
Just need to tidy and put hoover round tomorrow and then I'm ready for xmas day - must admit though, I don't understand the need to clean the house within an inch of its life for one day .. maybe that's just me (slob !)0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

It's Christmas. Back at the nest.
1 Mince pies are done. With splash of whiskey. Petticoat tails done.
2 Smoked ham joint now inn oven. Curl cut crackling on top. Flavoured with orange, sage and rosemary, mustard! I'll get the sprouts, not.
3 Biscuit tin cracked, and sweetie jar filled with bagged sweets, fudge and toffee. No tins again this year! Please continue to boycott the tins.
4 Loads of wasted foods bought this day in emporium. One grabbed ten tubs of mushrooms. Then nitrogen enriched bagged salad to go with it. Sorry, but I think not. We spent £10 on salad and loaf of bread. Bread for the ham joint. Will be nice in between two slices!
Twine to be together!
Edit. Live ham roast latest. Rubs Tum! Unfortunately, BoPsie has her work cut out at the sink!0 -
1) Got the gammon out to defrost for tomorrow, must be Christmas Eve!!!
2) Found a wonderful extra present for that Zebra in town, a 3D picture of an Owl to go on his new bedroom wall, he loves his 'Owels' !
3) Nice walk with Cookie this afternoon, she's taken a shine to DD1 and we met a new puppy, a little Schnauzer called Toby, a 7 months old bundle of wiggly licky cuddliness.
4) All is now safely gathered in for Christmas.
5) Looking forward to tomorrow when we go out to 'Bring in the green' and cut lovely things to decorate the house with from the hedgerows and garden, it always looks and smells lovely!0 -
Some recent pleasures include,
Celebrating Yule with Captain Scarlet, mulled cider and candlelight, reflecting on the past year, good and bad, planning for the next.
Wrapping presents for loved ones.
Is it a horse or a kite, Billy spooked by Canadian Geese, jumping and snorting on the end of the lead rope, for those of a certain vintage think Champion the Wonder Horse.
Welcoming friends into our home.
Yule logs, wooden one now in situ on fireplace, a much loved tradition and sweet ones, covered in dark choc butter-cream.
The relaxed atmosphere at the farm shop this morning, no hassle, no pushing or shoving, people chatting in the queue waiting for the tills. Proper fruit and veg with paper bags to put them in, not a bit of plastic in sight. A large piece of Binham Blue now sits in the larder, yum.
& - have ordered Gutcheon book, eagerly anticipated delivery.0 -
Good morning! It's Christmas Eve already
Pleasantly cool at first light but to be another boiler of a day so I'm determined to get as much done this morning as possible before it gets too hot.
Just of phone chatting to DD1 who is now staying with my aunt and uncle for Christmas and who will make sure she has the most fabulous christmas . Nice blether with my aunt too.
Tuesday's day off was quiet. ( until DD2 came in and kept up incessant chat about current life dramas) , after a busy / noisy weekend at work I really appreciate it when I have a quiet day just me and the dog!
Did grocery shop, I just need to buy fresh salad stuff for dinner tonight and tomorrow but other than that we are done with shopping!
Wednesday was a busy day, went into city to meet friends for coffee in the morning, had a lovely stroll along the riverside which has a nice cool breeze, nice to catch up on their news.
I then went to the Scots Church for their 9 lessons and carol service in the afternoon . This was lovely and I felt balmed by the familiar words and hymns. They do a weekly mid week service so I must try and go to that as I work weekends.
Found out again, what a small world it is when the current minister knew my DD2's godmother from home....the previous minister also did!
Then we shared a nice baguette, I've not had bread in weeks ...it was delicious. We had this at a cafe just opposite the christmas village that's been set up.
Then ( cue for a big Aaawh!) we just caught the train home.....or rather the train caught me....the doors shut on my leg as we got on and down I went , very ungracefully like a sack of spuds, much aaaaaaah-ing on the way down and rather hurt my arm ( which disappointingly has only a tiny bruise today to show for my troubles) ....however, I'm grateful I did not have a skirt on and that I did not lose my sandal!
Home to a very hot house and feeling sorry for myself and then we had to go back out again to meet other friends for dinner, they treated us to Japanese food. I ate , I did not particularly enjoy but I ate ! The speciality of this restaurant was pork. I dont like pork so kind of ate around it. They ordered so much food and restaurant policy is no takeway so friend went to supermarket and bought take away containers and then filled them with leftovers, for our boy, who couldn't make dinner as he'd been at work. He will also have it for his lunch today, there is just so much. I had to text him to say please don't eat when you get home! Anyway, we enjoyed the couples company, they are gentle and kind and it was nice to catch up with them .....we still do the ...in your country.....in our country talk but it's nice to share and find out about each other's cultures.
Then home to hot house and bed.
Today will be catching up on housework, not too much to do but we have friends over for dinner tonight so want to be nice and tidy. House landlord is coming over to see the massive tree in driveway, he's going to cut it down himself rather than pay someone to do it. Not doing it today but to chat with me about what I want done. Hoping to have dinner tonight in the garden so shall sweep up ( again) out there, because it's been so hot the big tree is losing its leaves like its autumn so constantly sweeping up. Quick tidy up of garden , then get big table out of outhouse and set up that and place candles in glass jars around garden and generally pretty things up.but I have to do that before it's gets too hot .
Anyway ...procrastinating by being here so shall go and make the husbandly porridge and put some UK radio on.
It's nearly Christmas!0 -
Evening all
Ampersand. Am thinking of trying raisins and almonds. The game being L'auto Jaune?
Pleasures since Sunday
1 in a foul mood on Sunday. Dunno why, hormonal I think (sorry BoP). But eventually went for afternoon tea with OH. Then went to Star Wars with the kids, Our local cinema was sold out so. Drove to a different one half an hour away . The pleasure of that was that the kids talked to each other - you know, like people do. Star Wars was fab.
2 Work Christmas do on Monday. Sober enough to know I had drunk too much. Drunk enough to not be sober. No hangover = result
3 drove to ice cream town yesterday. Very wet drive. DS came with me, always nice to talk to him - and the car is the best place. I am starting to hope that he might be emerging from "Kevin the teenager" phase. Bought a Z bed in Agros, which involved repacking the boot in the car park. Our audience thought it was v, funny
4. Picked up my Christmas pressie ring. It has been made from aunties bracelet that broke. I am beyond thrilled with it.
5 walked by the sea this pm. Watched the sun set over the sea and then turned to walk home just as the moon appeared over the mountains, perfect.
Happy Christmas Eve eve, everybody.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
