Hi all. I'll post my 5 pleasures a bit later, but I just wanted to say that the black bean pork I made was actually a jar of sauce  Sometimes you just have to take the easy way, and last night was one of those times. :) It was still really tasty though and I've got the leftovers for lunch today :D

Morning everyone, just quickly popping in to post my 5 for yesterday:

    1. Fun evening in the pub with friends.

    2. Arranging a birthday meal out for me later on in the month with the same friends.

    3. Saying goodbye to Penny and Gizmo and knowing that they will have a permanent, loving home.

    4. Sorting out my finances for April and knowing that I'm on track with everything, including my trip.

    5. Catching up on much needed sleep.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

    Morning all.

So much for my 'must be more organised' - yesterday turned into one of those days when you start to suspect the world's out to get you! (For example - I opened a new tetrapak of milk and found it had been overfilled so it went all over the cooker and floor when opened. I picked up a bottle of olive oil and discovered I hadn't put the lid on properly so it catapulted across the kitchen (I still haven't quite worked out how I did that). I went to the shops to get the loo roll I forgot to buy last week, got home and realised I'd forgotten the eggs I needed for the pear cake; I put my coat back on, went back out and bought the eggs, got home and realised I'd forgotten the onions for the rabbit casserole; I used leeks instead. I rushed through my dinner to get to the pub in time for the quiz, only to find my team mates had forgotten about the change of day and weren't there anyway. As I said - the world was out to get me! :()

sparrer - I've never heard of a wm playing a tune before. Ain't modern technology wonderful?

ACEY - I really hope you get the energy companies sorted out asap. If you don't have any joy I would second wssla00's suggestion of threatening them with OfGen (or however you spell it) - I had a load of trouble with BG a few years ago and, as soon as OfGen got involved, BG miraculously started co-operating. ;)

Kittikins - I hope you're feeling OK today after all your exercise yeserday.

Ladyhawk - I'm glad you had such a nice time away - it's a real shame you've had to come back to all this trouble with your cleaner, though. I agree you're goign to have to find someone else - there's no point paying someone if they're not going to do what you're paying them to do (and neglecting the animals is entirely unforgivable). Good luck with your conversation with her.

Bella - that's fantastic news about your aunt. :j

Anyway, my (very late) five for yesterday:

    1) Had a nice lie-in.

    2) It was a lovely sunny day so I washed and dried a fleecy bedspread that's going off to a charity shop,

    3) which also expressed interest in a few electrical bits I haven't found a home for through Freecycle/Freegle - now I know they're going off to a good home. :)

    4) Despite the world's best efforts, I managed to make a loaf of garlic and herb focaccia, a pear and almond cake (even though it did prove to be liquid in the middle when I cut into it - it will be going back in the oven this evening, as I didn't have time yesterday), and a rabbit casserole big enough to put an extra portion in the freezer for another day. :)

    5) Even without my pub quiz team mates I had a very pleasant evening at the quiz - I just sat, watched the football, and chatted to people without worrying it looked like cheating (and merrily cheated by feeding answers to a couple of lads at a neighbouring table whenever they got stuck, but I won't tell anyone if you don't! ;))

Have a good day, all - I really must go and deal with some of the vast stack of work on my desk. :(
Back after a very long break!

hi all. I dont get a good signal on the new caravan site we are on so must be quick! Mine for yesterday 1. Good customer service from the owner of site. Had no electric all night as something wrong with pre paid meter which then said i owed £19 for electric even though we had none. Owner replaced meter and put £3 on. We only used 20p so nice for next lot who pitch there. 2. No rain while packing up 3. No rain while setting up at new site 4. Seeing sil and her family so lots of catching up and all kids played together 5. This is a lovely site. We are next to a park for kids and they have loads for kids to do and all facilities lovely. This is one of the best sites i have been to. Have a good day everyone.
  • Hi everyone - hope you all had a great Easter weekend?
We had a lovely time as my mum visited. So here are mine from the last few days:

    Friday
    1. Mum came to stay for a long weekend.
    2. Made fish pie with a lovely moist chocolate easter cake for afters (I know it sounds like a terrible mix but it was lovely). We also shared a bottle of white wine which is something we don't tend to do at home very much and I remembered how nice it could be relaxing after a meal with wine.
    3. DS2 and I found a tv channel called 'Body in Balance' and we had great fun working out to Bellydancing and Bollywood workout.
    4. Getting some free lamb bones from the butcher and making some lamb stock ready for the weekend.
    5. Sharing OS tips with my mum and her giving me some in return.

    Saturday

    1. Mum taking the boys to the cinema to see Nanny McPhee while DH and I had some time wandering Norwich together.
    2. Going to see the decorated penguins at the Forum in town.
    3. Our first ever visit to Nandos - loved it :p
    4. The new Doctor Who - I can't accept that David Tenant has gone but the boys liked it (apart from the bits where DS2 had to hide his eyes).
    5. Winning a really cheap camcorder on Ebay. I can't believe it ended so low - but it ended during Doctor Who so maybe potential bidders were watching that instead!

    Sunday

    1. Setting up an easter egg hunt for the boys.
    2. A trip to Sea Life at Gt Yarmouth. Went after 3pm so had greatly reduced tickets.
    3. Chips and ice cream on the (very cold and windy) seafront.
    4. Mum and I made a turkey dinner with home made bread sauce and the most delicious stuffing I've EVER had. It's already lasted for two nights and we are having the rest with sausages and mash tonight. It was really a meal in itself. And now I had really better stop drooling about it! :o
    5. Sharing Easter chocolates even though we were stuffed after dinner.

    Monday

    1. Deciding that I really had over-eaten at the weekend so making a concerted effort with food intake today.
    2. Having a lovely Mum and daughter chat over a cup of coffee around the kitchen table before mum left to pick up her partner from the airport.
    3. DS1 back-chatted pretty badly today and so I have taken away his use of the computer for the week - that's not the pleasure. But what was gratifying was that he accepted that it was a fair punishment and was also very regretful about his behaviour (which is quite hard for a mardy 11 yr old to do sometimes) and is quite clearly making a concerted effort to behave better.
    4. Because of the above ban, DS1 has also turned to reading and writing stories rather than being on the computer - so this is another positive thing.
    5. Really enjoying a book I found in a charity shop about food from the past. Am going to attempt making some Frumenty and some Marchpane with the boys later in the week. Watch this space!
6.LO turkey dinner and stuffing and catching up with some rubbish telly in the evening.

Hi All - Cant compete with B'Or mammoth post ... suffice to say I have had a good bank hol - talking and gardening and running with DOH. The campervan looks really well - real now. He actually said we could go to a show to look at various types (but to make him leave his plastic at home or else we will just buy one! Gulp!! And I thought he was reticent because he didnt really want one and its the opposite). And then a sleepless night because my DS DDIL and DGKs are going to NZ at Xmas for a month - to see what its like and explore emmigration. My other D lives in USA so where do we go? Mid Pacific?? In the campervan?? But after a good long and lovely chat to them next day things seemed in better perespective .... but goodness me what things life throws at you just when you think things are settling a bit ...
    So here are 5:-
    1. Reassuring phone chat with DDIL and DS (hugs down the wires)
    2. Talking to DH and chatting about campervan
    3. Found 50p
    4. Playing in the greenhouse - seeds, plants, transplants. Compost under my fingernails.
    5. Did I mention the campervan?
    6. Looking at flights to USA for quick week with DD (I know the flight isnt MSE but the thinking is ....) Will see how little I can get away with spending (London to Detroit- very flexible on dates/routes/stops)
    XX MM XX
Off to play in the greenhouse again!
    Stay clutter-free
No new stuff unless to replace broken items that are essential.
£2 savings pot (started Oct 09) £182 so far (£100 of which is banked)
Roadkill jar (found money) 87p and 20 eurocents

    Hi all

I shall be back later for other pleasures but really need to register my MASSIVE pleasure for this morning:

I finished all the last bits of work, done the last of the filing, burnt the last of the confidential papers (that did not require filing), tidied up everything and now I have officially FINISHED WORK!!!

I am really glad and look forward to other pleasures today and in the rest of my life!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Thank you for the warm welcome last week and kind messages :). I feel i little better and refreshed after a relaxing long weekend. Here are my weekend pleasures...

    - Stocking up the cupboards and fridge ready for the next month, getting a few bargains in MrT's on the way.

    - DH cooking me one of my favourite meals - green vegetable risotto on saturday evening, so that I didn't have to cook (And he even cleaned up after himself!)

    - Lots of playtime with DD while DH cooked.

    - A few hours off today from being mummy, as inlaws have taken DD out for the day.

    - Went out to collect the contact lenses I ordered and they cost a little more than I thought :o so I didn't have the bus fare to get into the city as planned. However, this meant I saved a fortune in not going shopping and buying stuff I really didn't need anyway!

    - I window shopped my way along the high street and found a few books for my holiday in the 2nd hand book shop that were £1 each, so will go back and get them tomorrow if they are still there.
    Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
    Debt free thanks to MSE
