a shortie tonight as not a great deal to report...

    1. DD, DSiL and DGD3 visited this morning, I now have less of a leak under the sink and will be gone completely when I buy the cap I need on Tuesday
    2. DSiL also resited the loo roll holder which has been off the wall for months. He's so good, sees things which need doing and just gets on with them :)
    3. During my daily call to DM she said she wants one more holiday abroad so I've been browsing on line at where we can afford (and some beautiful places we can't). So pleased I can do this for her and that she still wants to go on holiday. At the age of almost 89 she's fit and well, is a snappy dresser - no granny clothes for her - has a great sense of humour and is a terrible flirt! Long may it last :D
    4. DNeighbour sent her DD round to ask to borrow an egg, I gave it to her in a bowl to carry and later she returned the bowl with 6 mini eggs in. Nice neighbour, yummy chocolate
    5. Bought a pack of 12chicken drumsticks in Mr T yesterday and have made 6 into a curry, with veg from the fridge, in the sc. That's 3 days meals for less than 65p each :T

    Night night (((everybody))) sweet dreams

Popping in again, trying not to reply, not because I dont want to, just because its 2am and im up for the girls in 5 hours and on breakfast again so cant go back to bed!
    love reading!
Wssla PLEASE dont worry about the cost, come visit if you are around even for a drive/day out and a coffee :) If you want to stay over, i always need a pot washer and do great staff accom! (dont take this the wrong way :) I mean in the nicest way, that you are welcome to visit when you want to, just because i have a buisness its still my home in a sense, its where i live. Some things mean more and you guys would have alot of expense coming to visit me! Would you charge your friends to stay in your spare room? I think not!
After easter I will be back to replying, just so tired at having to be all things to all people you know how it is! Thanks carolintia for your comments too :) I know where you are, when i have time you might regret being there!

    1) let the girls out whilst I cleaned the run, so much easier than having them "supervise" as I cleaned the house, and they loved the scratting!
    2) the bluebells I thought werent sprouting, are coming through!
    3) really busy and stress free service at lunch. did 52 covers - without shouting!
    4) talked to someone on msn that always makes me feel nice, even though we dont speak often, when we do, its like coming home :)
    5) catching up with posts, even if I cant reply, as its 2am!
6 ) I won a hamper a week or so back and used some oil from it in bread (the bread failed but I wanted to mention the hamper in case I hadnt before:D:D:D:D:D:D

Great news about your aunt, bellaquidsin!

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Yummy roast lunch in Wetherspoons - big plate of delicious food and a drink for £5.99.

    2. Seeing the new Leonardo di Caprio film "Shutter Island" - bit cheaper as we went on a Sunday afternoon. It was very good.

    3. Having a stay of execution ref Penny and Gizmo leaving me - they were collected this morning, so I had an extra night with them. A house without cats just doesn't feel right!

    4. Getting some really fab comments about my writing.

    5. Mum being really happy when I went to see her - she has dementia but is generally pretty cheerful, but yesyerday she couldn't stop laughing!
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Ahh, here are my pleasures for today/yesterday:

    1) Being given about half a large, cooked Christmas pud. It'll make brilliant Christmas Pud Ice Cream so we can enjoy it anytime. :D
    2) Finding a "The Stig" Easter Egg/Mug combo reduced to clear. DH will have the mug and I'll have the egg.
    3) Being invited out for a meal last night so I didn't have to cook.
    4) DH brought me a cup of tea in bed. Makes me go all "ahhh" and smiley.
    5) Getting mealplans sorted for the week and also my shopping list. I'm intending to be as thrifty as I can!
    6) Black Bean Pork tonight - one of my favourites.
    7) Sorting through recipe books and thinning out my shelves. It looks more orderly.
    8) Watched Ashes to Ashes on iPlayer - happy day!

Anyway, I guess I'm off to start doing the ironing now. Take care everyone and have a good day. (((hugs)))

A good Bank Holiday to all of you! It has been a bit of a weird day for me as I went out with my friend for a bit of shopping but first she had to pop into Boots where she had ordered some medicine for her DS. They had not received it and, as it is a serious condition that needs medication we had to make quite a fuss, until eventually they agreed that she could collect it from another Boots a bus ride away, but it took us two hours and a lot of assertiveness. So I spent most of the day out.

Nevertheless, I managed to get some pleasures today:

1 - Breakfast in bed, courtesy of DH, a lovely porridge with dried figs and chopped nuts and seeds, with a shot of honey.

2 - Seeing my friend was lovely and we had a lot of time to chat about our lives while waiting for the medicine situation to get sorted.

3 - The very pleasant manager at Boots offered us a cup of tea while we waited.

4 - Afterwards, we went to Lidl for a nice bargain shop (but I have to say, some of the stuff is no longer as cheap as it used to be!).

5 - Back home, lunch of leftover curry from last night.

6 - DH has hoovered our bedroom!

7 - At long last, I pulled myself together and bleached all the mugs in the house so now I have a cupboardful of clean white mugs!

7 - With the leftover bleachy water I bleached both kitchen and scullery sinks (very Flylady!).

8 - Just now, heard DD's voice, she is back from camping and I am really looking forward to a long hug with my baby girl!

Have a great evening everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Hello Ladies and the occasional Gent that frequent this lovely board.

This is the second time that I am trying to post... not sure what happened to my first attrempt... though it is probably on someother board confusing people and generally being incongruous!

So I am back from my surprise holiday to see my parents... and they certainly were surprised! Infact I thought that my father might have a coronary when I walked in!!

    1) Had a lovely week relaxing in the sun with my parents (and we didn't even argue!)

    2) My lovely friend drove 7 hours to see me with her two very little children

    3) My lovely friend's husband arranged free tickets to watch our team play rugby and offered to be designated driver for the evening.

    4) Seeing my uncle who got up at 4am to drive 6 hours to my parents house to see me. I haven't seen him for 10 years since his wife's funeral so it was lovely to catch up with him.

    5) Being home in my own bed again. The last 5 weeks have been such a complete blur and I have hardly had time to relax by myself so it is wonderful.

I think that I am going to have to fire my cleaner though. She hasn't cleaned my flat for nearly a month now (she is supposed to come for 2 hours every 2 weeks to help me keep on top of things and to do the ironing). She was also paid extra to feed the cats each day while I was away. Twice I came back to find they didn't have any water... so I texted her to ask her if everything was ok and all I got back was a stroppy text saying that I was being so unfair because the flat has been a mess so she can't possibly clean. I agree that the lounge is a mess because I have various additional furniture in there that is supposed to have been sold and we had agreed that the bedroom was not really in scope. The kitchen and bathroom were tidy though and I had left 7 work shirts to be ironed which would have taken a while to do. I am so annoyed!!! I am really flexible - I'd be happy if she had just done the kitchen, bathroom and ironing as well as vacuuming the stairs but there was no effort... she didn't even pick up my post when was covered in muddy paw prints when I got back.

So - advice please... do I just ask her for my key back as well as the £20 that I had paid her to clean while I was away or do I ask her to come round for a chat one evening this week?

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

My opinion is that she is taking advantage of your good nature. If you want an advice from me it would be: Cut your losses, ask her for your money back and then sack her. She is being paid for cleaning, if your lounge wasn't a mess you would not need her in the first place! And the fact that she has been neglecting your cats speaks for itself.

There are a lot of cleaners who are good, honest and reasonably priced and who are genuinely looking for work, one of them would be much better for you. Good luck in finding a better cleaner!

It seems like a very long time since I did this but here goes -

    1) A lie in this morning.
    2) My brother called round on his bike - a complete surprise as he lives so far away. He had come on the train, was meeting someone else to go on a ride at the petrol station but had left himself two minutes to pop in and give me a card. I rewarded him with a chocolate.
    3) Managed to dig over a decent section of the allotment and got my leafy section planted - cabbages, lettuces, cucumbers and courgettes. With a few beans on the new bit at the end just because I found them in the seed tin and wondered if they would still grow.
    4) Didn't need to cook tea tonight as it was all done yesterday.
    5) Looking forward to my box of chocolates later on.

    Happy Bank Holiday everyone.
