5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Lovely and pleasurable day today but not sure how OS it was. The traffic jam we sat in on the way to our 'day out' was very very modern, as was the one on our homeward journey even though we came back a different way, but
1. The picnic in the car of
2. Homemade rolls with cheese and homemade chutney followed by
3. Homemade yogurt with homemade lemon curd-
4. The roast chicken in the Remoska (set on the timer) which greeted our return, and
5. The Bailey's chocolate from £land which we had after our meal with coffee -
Were all faily OS and balanced the bits in between which were quite indulgent, but then it is Bank Holiday. Hope everyone else had a good one.
BellaA man's life consisteth not in the abundance of things which he possesseth. Luke 12 v 150 -
Evening everyone,
Acey - Hope you have a more peaceful night tonight
Jexy - Wow, well done on managing 52 covers and not shouting
Caterina - Glad to hear you had a lovely weekend and good luck to OH on the job application
Nuttybabe- Glad you are enjoying your caravaning more than you expected
Patchwork Quilt - Welcome back, your allotment sounds amazing
Ladyhawk -Well done on managing to suprise your parents. Good luck with sorting out the cleaner ploblem
Mine for today:
1. Toast in bed made by OH. He is still trying to get back in my good books after the state of the kitchen.
2. Lovely lazy morning with the house to myself. Read a book and drank tea, bliss
3. Tesco shop coming in just under budget, should have been cheaper but did buy a few treats including leg of lamb for dinner today as OH has being going on about it all week.
4. Washing dried on the line today as no rain
5. Getting some clothes bargains from Mr.t thanks to an MSE post. Work clothes sorted for quite some time.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Sounds like lots of chocolate eating has been going on, yum yum!
1. Found 1p at the petrol station
2. Had a NSD yesterday
3. My dad reimbursed me for shopping and stuff I got for him a while back and completely forgotten about
4. DD, dad and I painted eggs and went a-rolling down the traditional hill we used to go to when I was little. Due to my back/leg rubbish I was slow and nearly made it to the top of the hill.....so felt quite chuffed by that, and managed to drive home with a burning feeling in my back, but no major painkillers required yet!!
5. Made a lovely roasted vegetable tart for lunch today up at my parents.
6. DD has got the writing bug, she told me yesterday that she just can't stop writing! I'm so pleased for her, she's making books with interesting facts, I hope they don't all go into school to show the teacher, I'm going to want to keep some of these!!
7. DD was so excited by her easter egg and immediately said it was big enough to share with all her family. The bunny hunt around the kitchen was fun too (too wet to go outside). My parents had bought her a pail with some choccy eggs - cue MANY egg hunts around the house, with the person hiding the eggs generally forgetting where they were hidden so it was often quite hard to give clues, lol. Such good fun0 -
5 for today...
1) Woken by bigger son who is expanding his repertoire of cooking. This morning I was given fried mushrooms and a fried egg!
2) Had a good go in the garden (bright but a perishing wind) and pulled out lots of ground elder. Sons played out quite a lot today, made a tent from the broom and 2 bin bags and scootered.
3) Had a nasty shock when I checked my bank account online. NPower have been completely useless. 1st they decided my neighbours lived here and sent me a massive bill. I moved to BGas and NPower still owe me £300ish that I overpaid when I was with them. When I was online, saw that last Thursday they took out £1200 from my account!!!! Even though they no longer supply me with electricity. Anyway, now I HAVE to sort it out once and for all so I have all their silly letters in front of me and shall write my own reply in a mo.
4) Lit the fire. Haven't been bothering the last few days but it is more relaxing to have the living room nice and warm.
Can't think of a 5th but its been a good day.

Evening all
Jexy, that is so lovely
im sure I can find enough for a holiday though...would like to support your business!
Acey- I had that with another company, be sure to mention OfGem!!!
OK here are mine:
1. Working out I only need to spend £120 a month for food! I used to shop for the same stuff but on about that a week :mad:
2. Seeing that my tree has settled down in it's new home and budding
3. Picking up four bags of fancy pants magazines free from a lady off of freecycle. A great read. Plus as they are old the stuff to buy is out of date so cant but it
4. A nice long hot bath and a listen to the radio
5. Making a nice cake and eating a slice still warmFeb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -
Haven't posted for ages but still look in every day and love reading all the posts, thanks!
Here are mine for the day-
1. Tea, toast, marmalade and the paper in bed this morning, bliss!
2. Getting back to my childhood by following the toast with easter egg in bed, haven't done that for....hmmm....too many years!
3. Lovely sunny day.
4. My football team won again, yay!
5. Really laughing with my dd who was trying to teach me to juggle and our new little rescue dog who was sitting down with us as good as gold and then trying to catch the balls, a sort of canine wicket keeper!
Hope the weekend's been good for you all and have a good week x£2 savers club no.107 :j £36 so far.0 -
popping in for a read and wanted to reply!
Ladyhawk, I think you do need to perhaps replace her for several reasons, not least that she only "cleans" tidy areas... apart from that, the animals relied on her, so that is plain wrong, I would even question that she came to feed them, if she stepped over the post thats just ridiculous. Ok she isnt paid to pick up the post and pop it on the side, but would you pick it up if it was you?
I would however say to ask her to come around for a chat and tell her to her face the reasons etc that you feel you cant employ her anymore, not least her attitude towards you with the text!. She has a key to everything you own remember. I would maybe write off the £20, not mse I know, but again she has a key. Perhaps to ensure she has it with her when you have your chat, mention that you have an appointment, and though you dont anticipate being late, she can let herself in if you are. One almost ex employee that you know will have her key on her. Much cheaper than a lock change.
I re read that and sound so harsh and mercenary, Im really not, I just learned a bit
Too tired to post pleasures but love reading as usual !
JexI will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -
My 5 for today (yesterday) are...
1. Sowing about 100 sugar snap pea seeds into my homemade paper pots (i've now run out of newspaper!) and also the remainder of my onion sets. I also transplanted some leek seeds to a tub in the garden.
2. Reorganised my plastic upright greenhouse thingy. I keep looking to see if any fungi is growing from the mushroom spawn I 'planted' but nothing seems to be happening yet.
3. Done about 4 inches more on my 300 stitch long crocheted blanket.
4. Pulled a homemade lentil casserole out of the freezer and ate it for my tea. Really enjoyed it.
5. Had a quiet day today, DD is staying with her grandparents for a bit during the Easter break, just me and the dog here. I enjoyed spending a little time in the garden, this is something new to me as i have never been interested in the garden until recently.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
NSD Challenge: October 0/140 -
oh wow Bella, sounds like a real feast your DD made! And I've no doubt you did it, and the picnic in the car, justice. It all sounds so yummy . Excellent news about your Aunt too, good for her for getting on so well :T
Hope you soon have new mogs to care for savingforoz, and how lovely that you had such a happy time with your DM
Can we have the black bean pork recipe please KB? I love anything with pork and that one sounds really good
Rotten luck for your friend Caterina, trying to get the meds for her DS, but full marks to a very thoughtful manager of Boots. Good customer relations there
Ladyhawk I'm sorry to hear of your dilemma, I fully agree with Jexy's comments and think it's very sound, especially about 'letting herself in' so you're sure of getting your door key back. Good luck with that chat, not a nice job but you won't have to see her again. How lovely that people drove so far to see you, it must have given you a really warm feeling
Well done on your restraint GirlySquare, please let me into the secret of going into a garden centre and not coming out with one of almost everything on sale
Hi Patchwork Quilt , good to see you. What a great surprise to see your brother, and good luck with the beans - just talk to them nicely and I'm sure they'll reward you
Lol Tealady, keep up the good work with OH's conscience and you could have the bathroom cleaned too :rotfl:
Sounds like a really fun commotion going on with the egg hunt Kittikins, and yes do try to keep some of your DD's stories, I still have some of my DK's bits and bobs from 30 + years ago and they're very precious (even if their own children think they're hilarious)
Ouch ACEY that's disgusting! Cancel any DD's with your bank in the morning so they can't steal any more of your money, and good luck with getting every penny back. I'd ask for compensation too, for the stress and inconvenience caused. Perhaps CAB can help, a lot of their branches have a volunteer solicitor who can give sound advice. I definitely want shares in your son, I love fried mushrooms
wssla00 you'll have to stand in line for the bath room,I so want to just sit in it and admire the view. Good news about the tree, hope it continues to flourish under your tlc
Hi alisong :wave:your new addition to the family sounds great fun. Pleased you got a rescue, there are so many desperate for a loving home. I always seem to get the dogs with all the psycho problems...I wonder why?!
Jexygirl it doesn't sound at all harsh or mercenary. It's not always the employee who needs protection, employers can be and are taken advantage of every day, as Ladyhawks experience proves. I absolutely agree with what you've suggested and think it very fair especially as the woman already has the money.
My 5-
1. coffee with DNeighbour this morning, she's going away so I get to look after her cat for a few days. She's a darling, very old, very ladylike, and very affectionate - the cat that is, not the neighbour:rotfl:
2. It was a lovely blowy drying day so I did some washing. I must get back into MS ways, I've noticed I'm slipping on the gas and elec lately especially using the new wm in the daytime instead of on Econ7. But it plays such a pretty tune when it's finished and I wouldn't hear it at night
3. Found a text on my phone that has been there since Saturday, inviting me for a meal with friends. I must get a tone that I can hear...perhaps I can copy the wm one. Fortunately the invite is for next week so I haven't missed out
4. A person in my wider circle of friends, who I've never really got on with (not for lack of trying) is moving near to me tomorrow. I bit the bullet and invited her for coffee when she's settled and she seemed genuinely pleased.
5. A fun evening with friends in my fellowship, we laugh more than we get on with any serious business, which makes it a very popular meeting and the room is always full :T
Night night (((everyone))) sleep tight

oops sorry, didn't see you there on the new page katholicos. How I envy you having the space to grow. I've got as much as I can crammed in my tiny garden, I was thinking of digging up what little lawn I have but don't think the pets would like it. The blanket sounds good, hope you'll post a pic of the finished article0
