    5 for today...

    1) Decorated eggs and took them to mum and dad's for paced egg rolling. We remembered to shut the dog inside this year so he didn't chase after them and eat them!

    2) Took the boys to the contact centre and it wasn't too bad...

    3) Mum and I popped to M and S where I got some socks and a NEW T-SHIRT!!! I've shopped in charity shops for so long I can't remember the last time I bought some new clothes (2 T shirts for £8, by the way). I have trouble getting T shirts long enough.

    4) Came home and made our favourite tea and some more little nest cakes and got ready for Dr Who watching. (We have to have the sofa comfortable with a quilt on it and the curtains shut, I can't remember why!)

    5) My neighbour popped round so he stayed for tea as well. Good in one way that he's good company and is going through a marriage break up that is very complicated (aren't they all?) Bad in another way that it was a very straightforward tea and I always feel I say the wrong things. :-S

    6) Rather an annoying phone call with my sister but a good thing is that I rose above it... She is determined there is nothing wrong with my younger son that a good telling off wouldn't sort out. Preferably a smack although I have explained time after time that I don't do smacks. There is a concert on tomorrow night and we all know little son won't sit still through a concert. Last time I took him (to the same church, they do a series of free concerts) he found out that sliding his bum sideways along the pew made a squeaky noise... She keeps on and on about WHY he doesn't sit still and that I "should tell him". Right, I'll remember that and I'll tell him to stop being 6 and stop being autistic while he's at it!

    7) Anyway, the day was rounding off with some Casualty watching, always good.

I dont have time to reply and its so late with a sunday lunch looming!
Acey I am glad contat centre was better than last week tho.

    1) First 2 daffs have bloomed in the gardens!
    2) Letting the girls out again for another scrat around! I have limited time between shifts but this is a lovely way of spending it :) even though I need sleep! Eddie is so courageous and always in the advance party! But clapping and doing my "ladies" call that I usually do when i go out to visit them, seems to work for the majority to get them back (and I got a cuddle with my favourite (roadie) today as she was being defiant!)
    3) Have finally sent off figures to a few agents to see about a valuation. Its a very difficult personal situ that I wont go into, but getting valuers in to value A) the bricks and mortar as we own everythign apart from that and our landlord "may" be open to us buying the bricks and mortar (then we can sell a lease on it, and go our seperate ways but still have investment in property, provided they pay the rent which pays the mortgage!) or B) sell the lease only - all depends on what they say! But its taken a lot of time to get around to putting figures down as the outcome is a big personal thing for us both as well as professional. It may not be viable to sell atm, but at least we will know!
    4) lots of prep done, so although a quiet day (worryingly in some ways!) we are prepared for whats to come!
    5) Last night, we sent some customers we couldnt fit in, as we were booked, to the nearest "competition". They came in tonight for a meal and told us "please dont ever send anyone there again, it would be better to starve" :LOLOLOL (again put away the claws jex!)

SO tired gn guys :D Love to read your posts, they keep me sane!

Pleased you enjoyed your lie in savingforoz, my two aren't allowed in the bedroom but they make enough knocking on the door when they think I should be up. Either that or the dog puts his front paws up on the bed til I open my eyes and am greeted by his stare . Good news about the workshop, you'll enjoy that
Aww bella sounds a lovely place to go. Well done on DH doing the chutney, perhaps he'll be cooking you a Sunday lunch next ;)
Lol house elf, of course you should have apple cake before housework, you need the fuel to keep you going :D
thanks Carolyntia, I do get a bad case of foot in mouth disease at times. Pleased you had a good flight, and had the welcome party to greet you when you got home :D
good for you washing the car by hand newlywed, I love doing it but get more water on me than I do the car...bit difficult throwing a bucketfuls on the roof from my height (or lack of it, lol) I almost have to take a run at it :rotfl:
So pleased things are going better than you anticipated nuttybabe, I hope thesun comes out for you all tomorrow :)
I saw the Rhod Gilbert documentary too GirlySquare, I didn't envy him but thought he was very brave to take on the challenge. As the old saying goes, blow that for a game of soldiers! :D
Sounds like you did some good shopping wssla00. There are no £ shops anywhere near me so I always envy everyone when they say what bargains they get. On second thoughts perhaps it's just as well, my purse might not be able to stand too many trips :o
I'm sure your neighbour was just glad of the company ACEY, and didn't think badly of anything you said. You did make me laugh about your little son discovering how to make the squeaky noise, he's a child and I very much doubt God was angry at him being fascinated by it ;). Perhaps tell your sister that...
Good luck with the valuation Jexy, and great news about your customers coming back to you with their reports. That's a boost for the ego :T

    My 5 -
    1. A beautiful morning and 2 wash loads line dried. The smell of vinegar was gone when I took it all in and the towels in particular felt softer
    2. The daffy's still haven't flowered but the buds are definitely getting bigger :j
    3. Made the decision to lose some weight, I really need shed 2 stone but will do it a lb at a time. Shopped in Mr T for some healthy options...so why am I now sitting in bed at 2am eating a Jaffa cake? :rotfl: I'll start tomorrow...
    4. Went out to met some friends for late tea and had a great time laughing at everything and nothing
    5. Got back just in time to see Casualty, always good to watch while eating a beetroot salad

    Night night (((everybody))) sleep tight

    Morning Peeps.

Thanks for your post Sparrer it just made me smile:rotfl:
GirlySquare - we really enjoyed 'How to Train Your Dragon'. The teenage characters are very well observed;). DS2 who is 8 really liked it too, so much that he let a piece of chocolate melt in his lap and had to walk back to the car hiding a big chocolaty mark on his cardigan:rotfl:

    Yesterday

    1. Hair dye always cheers me up.
    2. Making choc crispy easter egg nest cakes with DS2.
    3. Using Mr T glitch to order some tops for DD for her birthday.
    4. Going to friends house for tea as its their DD's birthday, and she was v pleased with her present.
    5. DS1 home safe from a party. He is only 14, but thinks he is invincible. We stayed up till 11.30pm to give him a lift home, but he refused all offers and insisted on walking on his own:eek: Will have to make 'a lift home' a condition of being allowed to go to the next one!

Hope the Easter weekend is going well despite the weather:(

Happy Easter, everyone. Hope you have a lovely day and if you have chocolate - enjoy it. :) I've got quite a few pleasures to list - it won't be five as there have been a few days I've not been able to post. :) Here goes!

    1) Making homemade spicy meatball subs for our friends' house-move and them being pronounced as better than those you can buy and that I've spoilt them for takeaways in future!
    2) My cooking magazine turning up in the post and there being quite a few recipes in for me to try. :D
    3) A small Easter Egg in the fridge (Yes, I am sat here in my bunny ears :p)
    4) Seeing relatives and spending a nice day with them.
    5) Helping our friends to move house. It's a nice feeling of unpacking things in a new place.
    6) Another Lost disc in the post as well as a movie - yay!
    7) Unexpectedly getting a free meal for the freezer - DH wasn't going to be home so I cooked what we were going to have (rice included) and have a pot of Moroccan chicken for the freezer and had egg fried rice for myself. :D
    8) No doubt saying it will mean I don't get any tonight, but I've been catching up on my sleep a bit. :)
    9) My coconut candle. It relaxes me a lot. I've changed and now seem to prefer foodie scents to floral ones.
    10) How many people love the giant cupcake cake tin that I'm going to treat myself to!
    11) 4 NSDs in a row and hopefully more to follow. I will get properly back on the OS track.

Manuel isn't doing very well I'm afraid. I was hoping that I could change my usual tendencies towards growing things, but he's wilting (I have watered him though). I shall keep an eye on him, poor love. As for now, the F1 is about to start and I feel like a little bit of chocolate from the fridge... hehehe

Have a good day, everyone. Thanks for the good wishes (((hugs)))

    Happy Easter, everyone! :icotbaske

Carolyntia, looks like we do like the same programmes - nothing to do with the fact that there's eye candy in them, of course...

Nuttybabe, glad the caravan's turning out not so bad.

Jexy, loved the comment about how it would be better to starve!

Kitchenbunny, what are you doing to Manuel!!! (I'm the same with anything green - they die just from looking at me!)

    My 6 for yesterday:

    1. My gym buddy bringing a possible tenant for my house round to view it. I think she liked the house and would be a good tenant, so we'll see. Not heard back from her yet.

    2. Not very MSE, but I treated myself to a big bowl of roasted red pepper, sweet potato and courgette soup when in town, along with a roll and fresh orange juice. Yummy!

    3. My favourite crime dramas on TV in the evening, with cuddles from both Gizmo and Penny. They go to their new home this evening - I shall miss them so much! But a new foster cat will be along soon.

    4. Reconnecting via Facebook with my friend in Paris, who I thought I'd lost contact with.

    5. Yummy savoury rice for tea, using up leftovers, so quite MSE.

    6. Booked my place on the writing workshop. I'm delighted that I get to give money to charity at the same time as polishing my skills. My short story is still being uploaded chapter by chapter and is getting great reviews.

Enjoy the rest of your day, everyone.

Good morning all - happy Easter! :easter:

Hello nuttybabe in your caravan. (Isn't technology a wonderful thing?) I hope you have a drier day today.

savingforoz - good luck to Gizmo and Penny in their new home - I'm sure they'll be very happy there.

Kitchenbunny - I'm sorry to hear Manuel isn't well. Maybe it's just not warm enough for him yet?

ACEY - I'm glad things didn't go too badly at the contact centre.

Carolyntia - the bun loaf isn't a great success, unfortunately. I don't think I put enough spice in it so it's rather bland, and all the fruit has not only sunk to the bottom but mostly ended up in one corner. I think the last couple of slices are going to be more fruit than bun (which isn't a bad thing but does mean the rest of the loaf's a bit dull!).

    My five for yesterday:

    1) Had a lie-in. smiley-sleep012.gif

    2) Went to spend a £5 voucher at my favourite jewellery shop and found the earrings I wanted had been reduced to half price as an Easter promotion. :D As the reduced price was below the minimum spend for the voucher and it only had a few days' validity left I passed it on to another customer - winners all round there, I fancy! :)

    3) Got caught in the rain and found that the nearest thing with a roof was a pub, so I spent a very pleasant hour or so nursing a drink and watching the rain fall on the sea.

    4) Getting home, so wet you could wring me out, and stepping into a warm shower.

    5) Used a voucher to treat myself to takeaway pizza for dinner. (And paid for my naughtiness in eating something so unhealthy by spending most of the night awake with stomach ache. :( At least it meant I was up in plenty of time to watch the grand prix coverage this morning, I suppose.)

Have a lovely Easter Sunday, all - let's hope it stays a bit drier than it has done recently.
Back after a very long break!

    Hello everyone,

I have had a mixed couple of days away. It didn't start too well as our train was delayed by nearly an hour and then broke down just outside Grantham. It took 4 hours to get the train pushed back to a station where we could get off. A journey that should have got me to where I was going by 12 took an extra 4 1/2 hours so I missed my nephews wedding and half the reception. Then just to top it all off got lost trying to find the reception!!!
    Anyway enough moaning the pleasures,
    Thursday
    1. The kindness of strangers who gave me the correct directions to find the reception and my uncle coming to meet me half way.
    2. My brother making sure that there was some food saved for DD and me plus a large vodka and coke waiting for me
    3. Everyone saying how good DD was with all the little ones. As she has decided to go into childcare this is very good.
    4. Having dinner with my mum and dad and DD in a very nice chinese restaurant which was really good value
    5. Getting a good nights sleep in the hotel we stayed. Don't normally sleep well inn hotels but I think the stress of the day helped to knock me out.

    Friday
    1. Lovely tasty and cheap breakfast in the pub next door to the hotel we stayed in.
    2. Getting back to my parents and just having a lazy day chatting and reading.
    3. Seeing my other brother who couldn't make the wedding
    4. Mum loving the stamps that I had made for her so she can mark her cards as handmade by her.
    5. Lovely fish and chips for tea. They always taste so much better in the north for some reason.

    Saturday
    1. Getting an easter egg off my mum to take home for tomorrow
    2. Uneventful journey home. Have left DD there for the easter holidays as she is going away to Blackpool for a couple of days with mum.
    3. Not MSE but had curry for dinner delivered from local takeaway. Couldn't face cooking as knew I would need to blitz the kitchen before I could start, the result of OH being left home alone for a couple of days:mad:
    4. Glass of wine with dinner
    5. As nice as it is to go away being back in my own bed is so nice

    Today
    1. Cup of tea in bed made by OH
    2. Lovely sausage sandwiches for breakfast
    3. Getting the kitchen back to how it should be
    4. Lazy day just catching up and getting the washing done
    5. Catching up on everyones posts on here.

Sorry for such a long post. Hugs to all who need them

Good afternoon all. It seems like only a few hours since I last posted on here... probably because it was. I really must get organised one of these days! :o

Tealady - sounds like you had a nightmare journey - poor you! I'm glad you had a nice time after all rhat, and I hope your DD has a good holiday.

    1) Practically a NSD, except...

    2) I started making the filling for tonight's pie and found I had no onions  - and when everything's closed for Easter, too.:eek: Thank goodness for the food shop up the road owned by a Muslim family, who could sell me the missing allium for the grand total of 10p. :D

    3) Made a very OS pie filling in the end - stewing steak from a BOGOF offer, a 10p onion, some rather bendy carrots which were lurking in the bottom of the fridge, and a bottle of beer (which isn't OS, but makes the gravy taste nice :)).

    4) Found some bulbs lurking in the shed that had clearly been left behind by the previous tenant - despite being loose in a pot, with no soil, they had started to grow. I have no idea what they are or if they will grow properly when planted this late, but I figure there's nothing to lose and have stuck them in a spare pot. Fingers crossed they grow into... something. smiley-confused004.gif

    5) My regular pub quiz is on Monday, not Sunday, this week, so I can have an early night and hopefully make up for lying awake most of last night. Not very sociable, I know, but smiley-sleep012.gif is all that really appeals tonight.

    Have a lovely evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

New water butt (industrial tank s/h from ebay)...

raised on a plinth made from old slabs...

fitted with the fittings from the old, leaky water butt (now serving the school gardening club as a potato barrel)...

plumbed into the greenhouse with a hose that's been hanging on a nail in the shed/garage for 20 years...

hose secured by clip from a broken hanging basket...

    Not a bad day, OS-wise :)
