Good morning from a very early Wednesday. It's still dark but birds are awake and starting their dawn chorus. I can hear my blackbird singing away in the garden.
Well Tuesday was a great improvement on Mondaythankfully!
It was a chilly start ( crazy weather) and I enjoyed watching the sun come up over the veg patch.
Took train into city , went straight to cathedral and as usual I just sit for a wee while and be thankful for my blessings and pray for strength to keep going! I was so fortunate to be able to listen to some girl choristers practise their singing. The acoustics in the cathedral are stunning and I really appreciated just taking that time out to sit and listen quietly.
Then sat on steps at Federation Square for just a little while and watched the world go by. Literally! So many nationalities of people visit / stay in Melbourne, it's fascinating to watch!
Then tram up to hospital and met OH, who'd driven in from work. Then the loooong wait began. We had a quick chat with one of our cancer care nurses whilst we waited which was nice to catch up with her, she sorted out a few queries for us. OH is having more surgery soon.
Then with an hour and half gap between appointments we headed over to nearby cafe to skulk and while away some time.
Next appointment and then home....by this time it's after 5pm and we had forgotten that we were having our visitors who we had , had to put off last week as we were delayed at hospital ,coming. So ....it's amazing how quickly you can tidy up if you have to! I hoovered, did main bathroom and washed floors, OH did kitchen. DD1 moved laundry. DD2 dusted and a couple of candles on and good to go!
They came over for about an hour. These are our friends from China....so lots more of the in my country / in your country talk! Anyway, they are very kind and brought cake! It was a huge Black Forest gateau this time (ungratefully has been a coffee cake last few times!...that no one likes!) so we all had a little piece of that after they left. And some Chinese sweets that they brought back from their recent trip home.nice to see them and we have a tidy downstairs.....apart from the laundry room where everything was just shoved in!
So a busy day but no more planned hospital appointments for this week. Day off number 2 today which I share with OH who is using up annual leave on Wednesdays. To be a warm day which should be nice, I think I shall do some early morning weeding in the veg patch before the mozzies wake up .
Have a nice evening0 -
TTurvey: hope your interview went well.:)
Sadly no word on the role here ah well and feeling ridiculously tired,
1. I could barely keep my eyes open on the train journey home and kept nodding forward,:rotfl: we headed straight from the station to Mr T for the first time in 6 weeks:T for branded bits, we picked up some quarter of the price ham, pork fillet and beef which is the best we get and some 60p port and sage cheeses to stash for Christmases.
2. Back home just ahead of a dreadful local multi car pile up, a bit of a selfish pleasure to be in the warm.:o
3. Cheating with oven chips to go with chicken, salad and fresh bread.
4. 3 days, 3 days, did I mention 3 days.
5. Snuggly animals who I swear are starting to hibernate just like us….
6. Looking forward to picking up my new to me car tomorrow evening :j0 -
1. Up at silly o'clock to greet my gardener friend who has done a wonderful job, did in 4 hours what it would take me 4 weeks to do. Just now and again I have to treat myself to some help and am always happy when it's done.
2. Table top sale on Saturday for MacMillan, just about broke even as there was a steam rally and a charter fair within 4 miles. It was fun though, and all in a good cause.
3. What didn't sell at the above I took to the cs today, they were very grateful as running short of books. Some of the ones I donated had come from there but they were quite happy to have them back. Now the landing is no longer an obstacle course and I don't fall over boxes any more.
4. Silly evening on Sunday, went with friends to see the Barron Knights. I last saw them in Reading in the 60's, they still have as much energy and were just as funny. Strange how the things we look forward to least can turn out to be very enjoyable. More so due to the price concession and free soft drinks :-)
5. Apparently the roofing contractors are coming to fix the tiles on Thursday. I'm not holding my breath. Also someone is going to come to inspect the insulation to see how much needs replacing - which someone did 3 weeks ago. I don't have a date for that yet but it's only the fifth phone call telling me so, so that's progress....isn't it?
Have a good rest of the evening0 -
My pleasures for today
1. I got a job although it is on a self employed basis but I can choose how many hours I do.
2. Enjoyed watching The Naked Choir.
3. Met a friend for coffee - had a yummy caramel macchiato.
4. Bought my 1st Christmas present as it was perfect - normally only buy in December.
5. Had cuddles with buttons our chocolate lab.
6. Dh home after being away with work last night.
7. Ds2 agreeing to go to the extra English revision workshops after school. It helped that it was a request by the headteacher.
PK - hope you hear about the job soon.0 -
Another ridiculous day at work. Actually sought out the expert for her help today, regarding one youngster. Was told I had to "be firmer". Well, thanks for that. This will, however, lead on to a pleasure for later.
1) A nice egg mayo sandwich at lunchtime.
2) A joke too rude to repeat that I heard this afternoon!
3) A cup of tea after work with my school friend.
4) Nearly crying on the way home (again) about work then realising I will find another job and leave as soon as possible. What a revelation! None nearby yet... Feel better knowing I am now just biding my time.
5) Have booked somewhere rather exciting for a night in half term. http://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/st-briavels It's not far from here and we can stop at our favourite haunts (Hereford and lovely Skenfrith) on the way down and perhaps finally go to Tintern Abbey!
6) In bed and about to watch Holby City.0 -
1. Had my first lesson observation of the year and was very happy with the outcome.
2. Had a hugely productive planning day yesterday with my teacher partner - we wrote a mahoosive list of to do's and got all of them done, and morebetween 8:30 and 5:30. Okay, so we didn't move away from the computers for more than 5 minutes at a time, but it means I can go away this weekend and not feel guilty.
3. Cuddles with DD, she's still my baby pumpkin even though she's 5" and cheeky
4. YS cake -need I say more!
5. Funny chats on FB with the friends I'm going to see this weekend, can't wait!0 -
Oooft it's warm , still 29o
A most pleasant day off
Coffee with OH, I just had nice sour dough toast and peanut butter.
Bought a lovely shallow glass bowl in an op shop next to cafe. $6
Took Haggis Dog to vets. He's damaged ligaments on his front elbow , so total rest and anti inflammatory drugs. Looking very sad .
OH and I took train into city and then on a whim took a tram out to St Kilda beach. We had a paddle....had just taken my sandals off when DD 2 school phoned and said her hip was out again. Er.....we are at the beach ....would take 2 hours with public transport to get back. Anyway DD1 and a set of crutches went and picked her up.
Lovely paddle and lovely lunch then nice wander back up the side of the Yarra River, a nice cool breeze coming off river. Then finally before train home we visited one last place for a cool drink overlooking the river.
Express train home.....whoooosh!
Feet up
Have a lovely Wednesday0 -
My pleasures for yesterday included
1. No work so took a trip into BSTE to look for two small rugs for beside our bed, managed to pick up two sheepskins in a local furniture store in their sale, celebrated with a cheese scone and coffee in their cafe.
2. Chores completed in house so had blissful couple of hours reading next instalment of Julius Caesar trilogy my other half introduced me to.
3. One of the cacti that I put in a pot early summer has decided to flower.
4. How friendly everyone is at the yard where my horse is kept, nice bunch of people.
5. Beautiful clear night and with no moon the stars were so bright, lucky where we live that not so much light pollution.
Wishing everyone a pleasurable day x0 -
1) Many doggie walks today, some on our own just Mollie and me and one with Cookie and He Who Knows and Charlie retriever and his mumsie. Now shattered!!!
2) Lots of wild things back in bloom, speedwell all over the place now, blackberry flowers and wild alkanet with its azure blue all cheer up a cool October day.
3) Found a wonderful small toy squirrel in a CS today, DD2 has a thing about squirrels so it will go in her stocking this Christmas.
4) Don't have to cook this evening just reheat some of yesterdays curry and cook fresh rice.
5) Found the chunky crayons I've been looking for to give the Zebra child this Christmas for £1 in the works.0 -
Apologies as BoP is in radio silence south of SparraLands, in search of decent food and no burgers. Paradise has been found. Nice snug. Eight pumps of wobbleade. Rubs Tum. Decent food. Fresh. Rubs Tum. Location. Just south of sparralands. And relax. Catch up later as tomorrow is POETS Day.0
