Never change!
News live from the nest! Look, duvet. Pulls up!
5 As noted by BoP in BoP notes passim. BoP, hand with voucher for free snake! Went to chain. Mistake. Friday night. Oops. Thirst off, chemical juice dispenser producing foam! At least eight had come off, foam. Murmured that barmaid should take pump off. Oh dear. Thirty five years ago in Lifeboat, Friday night. If pump not work, no sale. Oh dear. Never mind. Off to table. Starter ordered. Oh !!!!!!, ordered Pate. Out comes some garish yellow orange fried offering. No. Ten minutes later comes Pate. Toast, no butter. No cutlery. No butter. Another wait.
Then it is time for the steak. Oh dear!
BFeetR at Shurdington. Avoid!
Note to BoP. If place serves burgers, they cannot cook steak.
There was no Rubbing of the Tum.
4 And I do not need to tell BoPettes, to avoid foam!
3 Thank goodness for BoPsie and her crumpet toasting ability. And not only that, holiday paid for and BoP holiday fund is as wash with pennies! Going to be grate.
2 Day for Breakfast, BoP has been snorkered. With thyme roasted Tom, mushroom, bacon, plum Tom. Toast and poached egg! Washed down with tea.
Ever wandered why that curry dish in the restaurant comes in a bowl? Then look at the fork use of the person.
The reason is, those who cannot use a knife and fork, skate the food round the plate. Hence the dish, stops the food sliding off, onto the table!0 -
Good morning from Sunday ....my day off !
We had a very hot and very humid day yesterday but the air has been cleared by a thunderstorm that rumbled away for hours last night.
I've just been out with the dog and it's nice to breathe fresh air again.
Work was very busy. Cafe down the road was closed so I think we got their overspill. However...was straight out the door at 3pm which makes a pleasant change!
OH came along on the train and we went to another cafe we like, he had a coffee and I had an apple and pistachio cake.
We were out when the rain came on! Torrents of it! Much needed by the gardens and will fill up our water butts.
This morning I plan to catch up on housework ( again) as 2 of last weeks days off were hospital ones and we have similar this week ahead.
We will go somewhere with dog once OH is up and about.0 -
Yesterday`s pleasures -
1)A very busy day at work yesterday (`retired` last month & went back as a part-timer, love my job too much to give up altogether, and delight in feeling now that `less is more`.)
Worked with a couple of new colleagues, feel very positive about some recent changes on the ward.
2)Coming home to a nice log fire, (OH thought it would be welcoming, though it wasn`t that cold, it was his thoughtgfulness, and it said `home`) and lovely to know I`mnot going back to work till Tuesday!
3) Feeling great sense of contentment now, best of both worlds re work/life balance.
4) Cat ran out to greet me when I got out of the car. Dog went daft when I got inside the house.
5) DS had brought his stash of plates etc.out of his room and washed them, not left them in the sink for me!
Today`s pleasures-
1) Didn`t HAVE to get up, but woke early as it was sunny.
2) Went to farm shop/magic greengrocer, got 2 bunches of heritage carrots a quid each, and new dirty parsnips. will have with slow-cooked pork shanks tomorrow, yum. There were sprouts too, but I`ll hold out till they have them on the stalk...soon.
3) Colours of trees on the way home from farmshop just so beautiful I drove home slowly to savour the joy of autumn.
A buzzard flew across the road low right in front of me, and I`d have missed the full sight of him if I wasn`t deliberately dawdling.
4) Went poo-picking in back garden/wilderness, and noted lavender was heaving with bees (bumbles). Also noticed some ivy busy with bees. (Am passionate about wild bees. We have 6 `bee hotels` on back wall of the house, and they are all fully occupied, mason bees have done their bit for this year, the lovelies.)
5) Spent a couple of hours this afternoon scouring pans, because I had a new cooker a couple of days ago and didn`t want to use manky pans on it - I have to say that my favourites have been sadly neglected for a while, well coked-up on the bottom, but the good ones are very forgiving and have justified my calling them old friends.
I will try to keep on top of this, now I have a bit more time.0 -
1. We laid in a little.:o
2. DH and I ambled around a localish town around the CS’s, a big bag of bits and pieces from our fav fruit and veg stand for a fiver we were so shocked at how cheap it was we had to get them to repeat it:rotfl:, and some cheap shop bits and bobs.
3. Stopped in at the caf! there for an easy roast tea pork, 3 veg, roasties and a tea for 5.50 each perfect, first time in 6 weeks and they knew our order off by heart well creatures of habit.:rotfl:
4. We relaxed this evening, had a tipple of baileys, and some bad snacky food all be it homemade (tortillas, salsa melted cheese)
5. DH has found me a car I really, really want. We’ve been looking for something very specific, must be older and tow, we know what we want and have been looking around for over a year now:eek:, I adore my ancient old car but it’s time to let go. I go and view this one tomorrow afternoon and I’m very excited which is very unlike me - car’s don’t really fuss me.:) The clincher was when he was working on his car it a few months ago now and mine is off the road. He came down ill and I realized the car would be in pieces and I would pick up the first thing I could find for sale in order to visit him if needed. I realised we do need 2 cars for our current situation scarey to write but a necessity at the moment.
6. I placed an order on line for a duvet tonight from Argos and pop to pick it up around the corner tomorrow, sometimes I can’t help but feel incredulous at online shopping.:)0 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) A bit of a lie in!
2) Sons at their fathers but have had various Skype calls throughout the day.
3) Brother gave me a load of logs (still in a builder's bag in the boot/back of the car - have been driving them around all day!)
4) Went swimming.
5) Off to Hereford. Paid bigger son's birthday cheques in his bank and traded his Argos voucher for an iTunes one. Also had a good look around and lunch in my favourite caf!.
6) Off to Ludlow afterwards and between all the charity shops got bigger son a Star Wars T shirt and a new pair of chinos.
7) Bought chips from the van for tea then drove them down to brother's where we ate them with roast pigeon and tomatoes that he had cooked.
8) Watched Dr Who.
9) In bed with 2 hwb and about to watch Casualty.
Didn't do half the jobs I meant to today so will have a busy day tomorrow!0 -
1) A lovely trip out yesterday to a local open air museum for their 'countryside event', met my brother and SIL there and had a nice time.
2) Bright blue speedwells nestling in the grass on a roadside verge, unexpected but beautiful
3) A new recipe for veggie burgers turned out to be most pleasant, just need to tweak the flavourings to our liking but the texture was superb.
4) This warm spell has been good for the plant life in the village, saw mahonia in bloom again yesterday along with some magnolias and surprise of the lot some Yuccas in flower again too!
5) A very nice local sausage in a bun for lunch yesterday at the countryside event, delicious!!!0 -
1. Rugby laundry out at 6 bells of this v. dewy, grey-will-burn-off matin. Somewhere near, keep hearing what is prob. neighbour's runaway japanese quail. He's heard it too, but can't see any sign. He tells me 2 other somebodies escaped - didn't catch name [he was struggling with HUGE red bunny clan leader at time]
2. Simple wild rice/veges/stock thing has been yummy perfect, feeling just right in recent days.
3. Rugby club and RWC, with more today. Long friendly chats yesterday, initiated by others.
4. Apple juicing event annoyance - 'Oh, so-and-so's had enough, decided to pack up early' This was circa 11 for an all-dayer. Will & go and ferret out her small press from storage? Might have to.
5. No idea why 5 beautiful bulbous rose heads, strong perfume, were dangling down, snapped. Took them anyway and they're floating outside, where I see them from kitchen.

I am getting to Hurrchrrs avoidance point when I hear Puppetmeister Titchner come on.
I thoroughly blame crass Sean O'Connor, so *Hoorah for News Quiz with Miles.* These 4 - Susan Calman, Hugo Rifkind, Terry Christian and Holly Walsh - gelled well yesterday [ unlike new voices, crowbarred characters, clunking cast-cutting cost-cutting in Ambridge, the consonant-free zone that is Woy Tucker...ad infin]
Should replace no.4[whinge] with *that*[pleasure]:-)
-and add 6.
Lovely new bathroom sponges, cut in 2. Too big for little-ish & hands otherwise :-) New soaps out = another :-)

Busy, busy, busy these day!!! seems to be no time to breathe (or do house work!) so pleasures over the last few days!
1. Joined the choir we were singing with last weekend - really went to support friend as other friend was away - it was great!
2. Out with friends on Friday - was so tired didn't think I would make it - but they had arranged it to celebrate my masters results so would have been rude not to go! Too much wine and other alcoholic substances consumed! because -
3. Open day at work for Hospice Care Week - never know how these things will go because its not exactly the kind of place people just want to pop into to see what happens! But wow what a buzz! We had a cake off for staff with around 35 entries and a good few visitors (a lot dragged along my staff and volunteers- but that's ok!) - my cake got runner up which made DD3 happy as she helped decorate! - the choir I have joined sang - I even joined in with the Beatles Medley - helped me not to burst into tears at Imagine! Patients were brought out of ward in beds and chairs and it was very lovely - patient said to me that the place and staff were filled with positivity which rubs off on patients and the place is about life not death!!! Made me cry with pride!!!! Then spent 5 hours sorting out the Day therapy Unit and moving furniture!!! Long, tiring but fulfilling day - if I had any remaining doubts about where I need to work at the moment - they vanished yesterday!!!
4.Due to 3 - no food shopping done as yet - so take away for tea!!!
5. DD and DS both at birthday parties at various times yesterday - lovely to see them with their friends - DS had a friend to sleep over - due to my tiredness I let them pull the bed settee out in conservatory and sleep in there (with the computer!) so no idea how long they played video games for last night - they are still asleep now so I am guessing it was the late!!! But not sure I mind! I had a lovely and badly needed sleep! Just need to move now and get my housework done!!!!0 -
Been in a bit of a blue funk the last couple of days, it would have been my DB birthday this week and always hits me hard, anyways some pleasures
Watching the garden birds lining up to have an impromptu bath in the water gathered on top of the swing seat cover, really looked like they were taking turns bless their hearts.
Comfort eating so HM chicken soup with last of Monday's chook, beef stew now on hob and flapjack in cake tin.
Flowers that my DM bought for me last w/e still going strong.
Some bargains flower pots at Nursey in village.
Spent the morning planting them full of spring bulbs so colour to come, still have more to do but will space out so last longer.
Sounds like everyone is busy and spending time in this lovely Autumn weather.0 -
1.A slow Sunday start.
2.Popped around the corner to pick up a new duvet for the caravan, put the bedding on and packed it away in the van.:)
3.DH and I viewed the car as it’s also local, after DH checked all the bits over, we drove it and I bought it leaving a deposit. I feel a bit nervous
4.Bitten to shreds by bugs while winterising the garden, I put the last of the bullbs in, and mowed. DH sorted the water system, taps and strimmed and we call that set for winter.:D
5. A lovely big meal, mint mash, mint chops and lots of veg, with a fresh fruit smoothie made by me to drink:)0
