Another stupid day! I can't broadcast what happened at work; suffice to say it would run for pages and I've never had so many people apologise to me. :-/
Pleasures for today:
1) Tasty granola with bananas and yoghurt for breakfast.
2) Dozens of people went to the lunchtime club I worked at today which made it seem worthwhile.
3) Bigger son had his haircut and feels better for it.
4) Tea at Sainsburys.
5) Went swimming with sons and my brother.
6) Watched Hunted (we have really enjoyed the series), with the stove on and a slice of Battenburg.
7) 2 hwb in bed now.
8) Don't have to get up quite as early as normal tomorrow as both sons (at different schools) have a teacher training day. Sadly, I don't so can't take advantage of it and take them out for the day.0 -
DFV.....Scotland all the way my dear!
frith I hear you!!
Back to work today ....blah! I've not felt dissatisfied at work for a long time so not liking that I am at the moment. Hoping it passes!
Anyway I have a job, I get paid and I have another Sunday off to look forward to.
We had rain and lots of it. Much needed by the farmers.
Didn't have long to wait for a train on way home

Just replaced another batch of disappeared Thanks. Loop message to newbies, long known to old friends here - connectivity notspot does these things in &land, sans rhyme or reason.
Lainey - & has been known to buy her bags of petrol there too. New atm is not sensibly obvious/accessible either. Response to 2013's ramraid maybe? So,...
1. ...back to emporium after all. Deal on oranges was way better, as Mr T's EV ones have disappeared...again. £1.50 for 4 does not = 6/7 for 76p. Free cappuccino taken away to face fast sinking yellowthing., which speed is noticeably accelerating. Big field walk, but quickly dark. Like vjm is & at this downturn of year. Need sun, need big skies, need land edges. Cabin fever-prone always.
2. Back up to 2 hwb's - comme Frith :-), [our very own Katharine Birbalsingh, with kk. Well done elder son haircut. Seem to recall some fraught previous] New purple [of course] hwb is from Mr Lewis. Yummyyum. Luckily discerned a suspect not-good softie spot on a corner of OldRed, slung without ceremony. Don't even keep old stoppers for spares these days - have so many. hwb's are emptied first thing outdoors, on wildly rambling clematis, [This has now leapt some distance to neighbour's guttering and 10 fast metres along there.] Of course, now wish I had OldRed back, in order to cut a replacement stopper cushion for one wire-down h-g rasbberry liqueur bottle, but that's another pointless. The world did not stop turning. Mr L's latest invitation to free cake and coffee in happy reserve. Didn't get round to using prev. 2 - no idea how that happened.
3. All the Arthur Miller things on radio 3, 4 and 4extra have been superb, completely riveting, perfect casting. Can't be bothered to point contrast with embarrassing switch-off hurrchrrs now. So silly. So signposted. So cba - after decades of more or less keeping up, &'s mostly gone.
4. Still have no oven means being ingenious with zapper, 4 hobs and sub-regulo 1. VAIRY s-l-o-w cooked Gressingham duck has worked surprisingly well. Thought I'd need the crispy fast-fired skin, but that happened anyway. All now carcass-ed, stocked, converted with wild rice, apricots, leeks and all the whatever's-about veggie usuals, with 5-spice and star aniseed. It is scrummy. New cooker will show up eventually, needs &'s preferred oddities - eye-level grill, glass door, 50cm wide. Mr Lewis confirms existence, but scarce, not orderable atm. 1st world non-problem, again.
5. Meeting tonight and ABs demain. BIG rugby w/e and many clean things to return :-). & will be everywhere, inc. Club and Alma.
6. Helped a new parking forum mser in a 100% mse way. Very satisfying.

That'll do for now. Relieved to see your roof is done, sparrer.
One of neighbour's escaped patched degus was on path the other day. Spotted 3 times.

Scampered back in raspberries. 'Rat!' thought &, yet not quite? face too blunted, light patches. Was about to put down bait, but went to neighbour first. Back @&squat, bending low, we saw him/her/it. Neighbour said to put Deadline down anyway. & queried, rptdly, but YES, said neighbour, 2 escapees, m+f. Explains trench scrapings near walnut and beneath one fence.
At this time of year, they want way into &squat, says neighbour, confirming &'s thought. Baits taken.
Still no quail recapture though.

Morning to all, pleasures for yesterday include,
1. Popping into horsey town to pick up goodies for weekend away, had voucher for Mr Sparks so lots of nice things purchased.
2. Cleaned and tidied the whole house, big bug-bear of mine to come home to house that needs cleaning, bed and towels changed, satisfying.
3. As always my lovely Vet was late due to emergencies so hunkered down in Bill's stable with him and read for two hours, just the gentle munching of hay to be heard, smell of the shavings used for bedding, cosy doesn't come close.
4. On the whole lovely vet was pleased and we can now start to do bit more, gentle canters round the droves, yip yippee, happy Lainey.
5. Using up tea of salmon and rice which was delic.
Wishing everyone a good day x0 -
And ah Ampersand, all becomes clear.....0

1) The whole village smells of autumn bonfires, very gently in the background and it's comforting.
2) We've been looking after a friends dog this week and have just been given a lovely cheese, tracklements chutney and posh biscuits 'thank you'.
3) The nerines in the front bed are just beginning to open their eyes, I always forget what a lovely pink they are, comes as a pleasure every year.
4) Skype with DD2 this afternoon, Zebra child was fast asleep in bed but lovely to talk to DD and such wonderful news too her lovely Hubby has just gained a Fellowship at the University he researches for, such an achievement, so very proud of him!
5) He Who Knows has filled up the log basket today, I think we might light the woodstove tonight, I love the first fire of the autumn, makes me very happy!0 -
1. Really lovely coming in to a clean home which smells wonderful care of a wax burner, little very mse pleasures.:money:
2. My contract is complete, my last day there, I am surprised how much I can feel myself relaxing down, onwards and upwards.:T
3. Being greeted by the animals who I spent the next hour just playing with rough and tumbling.
4. Packed food and clothes into caravan then cleaned so we are ready to rock and roll on an impromptu break at some point.;)
5. Just used up the last of the sad looking grapes, strawberries, raspberries and a banana into a smoothie
6. Tonight’s cleaning job of the kitchen tops and bathroom is done.:)0 -
New policy/procedure written following recent incidents. :-O See how that pans out....
Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Nice chicken sandwiches for lunch.
3) Sons spent their day off with my parents and brother and picked up cider apples to sell to Bulmers etc.
4) Bigger son made a treacle sponge for pudding.
5) Enjoyed Gogglebox.0 -
1. Excellent drive to Berkshire via 3 m-ways, not a huge amount of traffic all driving sensibly. Not quite so on the return journey as it was rush hour but pleased to have used less than a 1/4 tank of fuel.
2. Lovely family day with DB, DSiL and several others. 4 y/o great niece made a yummy birthday cake for DB (with just a little help) and decorated it beautifully
3. Had tea in the garden in the sunshine in the middle of October, wonderful!
4. Had to stop at m-way services on the way home as I was feeling quite sleepy in the miles of stop/start traffic. Asked for a strong coffee and got a something or another with three 'shots'. No idea what that was all about as I don't drink coffee but it worked as I think I floated home and I'm still feeling quite high!
4. Did a pile of ironing this evening which was soon done thanks to the distraction of Gogglebox (and the coffee no doubt)
5. Just spent an hour choosing books to put on the tablet to take away next week, we're only away for five days so I think the seven I've chosen will be enough!
Sweet dreams0
