Hiya all

Have a good evening all.0 -
Evening all - hope you're all well.
I've had a rather better day today, I'm pleased to say (hmm, very poetic!) - I spent most of the day preparing for a seminar I'm running tomorrow and, with some help from a colleague, we were all ready to go by 4 o'clock.
I should even be able to find five pleasures today:
1) Had a couple of very amusing phone calls from one of the seminar attendees, who trekked down to Portsmouth (a city he's never visited before) and left behind all the information I'd sent telling him where to go when he got here.He was sweetly apologetic for being so dippy, though.
2) It was technically a NSD. I bought a birthday present for one of my colleagues but the money came from a department collection rather than from my purse, so it doesn't really count.
3) My broccoli seeds have sprouted - the first of my plantings to show signs of life. :j
4) I've got BBQ chicken lasagne for dinner tonight - it was an experiment, but I'm pleased to say the sauce tastes pretty darn good if I do say so myself.
5) Not an OS pleasure, but a pleasure just the same - I've put the heating on tonight. It's mainly because I haven't got a clean, dry top for tomorrow and need a warm radiator, but I'm not sorry to be a bit warmer myself.
nuttybabe - wow, you've been busy today. Your list makes me feel tired just reading it!
Bella - your pleasures may not be spectacular, but they sound really good to me.
newlywed - I'm glad the interview went OK, even if it has turned out to be not what you want. I hope you get an interview (and more) for the job you really want - fingers crossed!
Miss_Imaginative - I'm glad my sister's not the only one who likes sniffing things in small jars. (Err.. spices, I mean, not anything more illicit!)
Jex - it's nice to see you back, and I'm glad things seem to be settling down, and that your 'competition' isn't.I can't help on the mixed bean thing, but I'll keep my eyes open - I'd hate the contents of your prize hamper to go to waste.
lilmisskitkat - I hope your poorly DS feels better soon
Have a nice evening, all. Mine will mostly involve an early night as I've got to be up rather early tomorrow - that's the only downside of my seminar, which I mostly love doing.Back after a very long break!0 -
Not a bad day today, here's my 5:
1) Finished the painting at mum and dad's! The bathroom took 3 coats and the toilet took 2. Did the gloss today as well. I picked up 2 new lampshades for them from Sainsburys at £1 each so put them up. M and D came back from a short break in Wales today.
2) Interesting weather... we've had sun, high winds, rain, sleet, hail and snow! Snow hasn't stuck though.
3) My brother put some oil in my car (it badly needed it) then when I left mum and dad's and was half way up the lane, the car decided to go into a state of shock and splutter and die... Luckily, mum and dad's neighbour appeared and got it going for me (he collects stationary steam engines and, at 18, my car's almost as old as them!)
4) Had a lovely card from my aunty and uncle with £5 to spend on Easter presents for the boys.
5) Went to the headteacher's leaving do and had some cake. :-)
6) Had a quick scooter/walk across the village wearing bodywarmer, hat and gloves and was still cold (and little son fell over and grazed his side) but the exercise must have done us some good.
7) Good tea for the weather - baked potatoes, beans and cheese then apple and raspberry crumble. Raspberries were the last from dad's garden picked in the autumn.
and 8) Something out of the ordinary.... On the way to collect the boys from school, I stopped at the village shop to get lots of creme eggs and chocolate bunnies for the Easter egg hunt I do for the boys. I got out of the car and there was the couple that are going to be witnesses in my ex-husband's fraud case. I hadn't seen them since the ex was charged. It could all have been very awkward but they said "hello" and I said something like "I hear you've had a bit of trouble" and they just spoke to me as they always have, told me about it and that they are quite looking forward to going to court and giving evidence! They are still neighbours to my ex-mother in law which is how I know them.

bella well done to your dgk's for their school reports
Carolyntia sorry to hear about your accident, hope you're feeling better now
house elf thanks, I add a quote when I find one that 'speaks to me' (apologies for 'new-ageiness' but can't think of another way to say it)
lilmisskitkat hope your ds gets well soon
Miss_Imaginative welcome back! Well done on your meal plans, it's amazing how much money we've saved by meal planning
newlywed remember the job interview was a learning experience! You learnt you didn't want that joband you'll feel much more confident about the next interview
Ollie glad you're back, I know what you mean about the 1:1, we're implementing 'performance by objectives' so the next few months will be interesting...
wssla good to hear your appointment went well
My five for today:
1) breakfast in bed courtesy dp
2) cuddles from dd this morning
3) arranging lunch with work friend tomorrow
4) receiving a compliment from a customer

Have a good evening everyone."We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Evening, peeps. I've spent most of the day under a blanket on the sofa, watching TV. So there hasn't been much in the way of pleasures to be had, but here goes:
1) Being invited to a friend's wedding.
2) Getting a few hours' sleep last night and another 2 hours this afternoon.
3) My friend came to see me this evening to see how I was doing, and took the cookbooks I was going to take to the charity shop.
4) Finding some lemon and ginger teabags - thanks for the tip, they're really good.
5) Finding a recipe for shortbread and feeling inspired to make some shortbread bunnies for Easter (when I feel better).
It's good to be here - everyone is so lovely. Hoping I can have a few more interesting pleasures for the day soon. Have a lovely evening, everyone.

Evening everyone,
Jexy - Glad you got your boiler sorted
wssla - Glad the hospital appointment went well
Bellaquidsin - I think your pleasures sound amazing and not boring at all.
Ollie - Hope things calm down a bit for you
Megsmum - Your post made me laugh:rotfl:
Miss Imaginative - Welcome back
Newlywed - Good luck with the job applications
Pleasures for today:
1. Not MSE but the office decided we were in need of bacon sandwiches this morning due to last nights excesses. They were yummy and the local cafe gives us a discount so was quite good value and just what we all needed.
2. Being very popular with DD and her friends as I printed off a few Thorntons vouchers for 2 free eggs. They finished school early so all trooped in to get their eggs.:T
3. DD packing her own suitcase for her 2 week stay at my parents. Saved me the job but probably hasn't packed the things she will need. Though I don't know why I am worrying as she usually comes back with a whole new wardrobe full of clothes.
4. Manic day at work again but managed to get everything done that I needed to even if it did mean stayong late. Feel better for getting the work done though.
5. Looking forward to seeing my parents and brothers tomorrow for a few days. Plus having a wedding to go to while I am there. I do miss seeing my mum and dad on a more regular basis but will make the most of these few days and knowing DD has 2 weeks with them.
Hugs to all who need them. Have a great easter and will post in a few days time when back from the North East.0 -
1) Watching the newborn calves in the field through the kitchen window ambling about, and listening to DD nicknames for each one.
2) Listening to an audiobook as I clean.
4) Rationing out my 'special expensive tea' to just one cup a day - about 4 pm when I'm flagging, and realising I actually enjoy that one cup more than when I was drinking 5-6 cups before.
5)Listening to OH reading to DD this evening one of James Harriot's books, his imitation of a yorkshire accent and their giggles. No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -
Evening all
You'll be pleased to hear that work had me checked out by the medical centre and I'm fine. They needed to get it done as I'm going offshore tomorrow and wouldn't let me go with out it
Caterina - Thanks. Glad to hear you've finished now....except that bit of filing. I bet you'll feel even better once that's done
bunny too - Aren't you the lucky one getting hm pancakes in bed......sounds yummy
sparrer - Cheeky devil.....seriously I'm fine now. Still have perfect vision....when sober of course
savingforoz - Thanks for the concern....back on track now. Cor I wish I could have time for a nap
Tealady - I agree with you. Wine must be ok as it's made from fruit :rotfl:
Ollie - Good to see you back. Sounds like you've been a busy girl
CCP - Thanks, I'll live...doctor was very surprised I wasn't cut or bruised....seems like I'm a tough old bird. Hope that cough is getting better. Broccoli yay!
wssal00 - Sounds like you've got a good team at the hospital there. I hope you get those allergy results very soon
Jexy - Glad to hear you've got heating and hot water now. I hope you still haven't got any snow there. If you have wrap up warm girl. After looking at your menu even I knew that you wouldn't have any competition
Miss_Imaginative - Welcome back
newlywed - don't worry if you don't take the job. At least the interview was good practise for the next one
Megs mum - You're brave for going out for a run in this weather:eek:
nuttybabe - mmmm hobnobs
ACEY - Well done on getting the painting finished. Your mum and dad must be very happy
GirlySquare - Can I borrow your dp? It would be nice for someone to bring me breakfast in bed once
Kitchenbunny - Keep resting and get well soon
Finally my latest 5:
1) Getting a clean bill of health
2) Nice slow day at work
3) Lovely bit of gammon for dinner
4) Nice tidy house
5) Back garden ducks in for breakfast and dinner
6) All packed and ready for my offshore trip tomorrow
Hope you all had a good day and everyone with snow is all wrapped up and warm.
Take care. C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Get well soon Kitchenbunny x
Sorry to hear the job interview wasn't all it should have been Newlywed, I hate it when agents lie through their teeth about jobs, and I have worked on both sides of the recruitment coin and it's blooming irritating. Hope the second application will lead to better things...
Acey - hope your car will be happy after its drink of oil, if mine can recover then there's hope that yours will too
1. Picked up 2 parcels for DD at the post office, a replacement birthday present and a prize I'd been hoping to receive for ages, a cute cake badgeI was far more excited than DD of course!
2. Found both 5p and 5 US cents, what a good Reverbe that was!
3. DD is mathematician of the week at school, we're so pleased - and best of all she tells me, she's mathematician for the easter holidays too, bless her
4. DD is in my bed AGAIN, I'm looking forward to a warm bed when I go up in a minute, lol.
5. I got 100 thumbs up for dinner tonight, a kind of ratatouille that was rather spiffing if I say so myself
6. Received v. cheap UV filter for my swanky camera and bought a cheapy bag for my new toy! DD is very excited as she'll be taking over ownership of my compact camera now, probably thinking about blooming time mother, as she takes lots and lots of photos and wasn't always happy at having to share, lol.0 -
1. Taking delivery of 30kgs of horse manure. Oh joy! I'm going to attempt to grow mushrooms.
2. Sorting out my two new water butts, fitting everything together properly and even managing to saw through my drainpipe to slip in the rain diverter. It was a female dog though.
3. Having a really simple evening meal of jacket potatoes and coleslaw with some lovely blue shropshire cheese and homemade bread and Christmas chutney.
4. Achieving a NSD. Bit disappointed i didn't reach my target, but at least i got 10/14.
5. Snowed here on and off this afternoon and this evening, but i am nice and cosy indoors. I must remember how fortunate i am, especially when i have those 'woe is me' moments (of which there are far too many).
Hope you are all doing okay.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
NSD Challenge: October 0/140
