5 for today!
1) Worked in school all day. That went very well then bigger son had after school Science club so little son and I went up the shop then waiting for him in the car (raining too much to go for a walk).
2) Made quite a cheating tea.
3) Had an invitation to the wedding of my oldest friend! I lived next door until I was 4 and we both went to Uni together and shared a house. He has been going out with the same girl since we were 18 (now nearly 35).
4) Sons had the photocards come from Blue Peter, to go with their Blue Peter badges. :-)
That's all for today, I'm afraid. Feeling quite tired and flat.

Hi all
CCP it is a long winter isn't it? Everybody I know is saying it, I can't believe it that the cold weather is coming back, it looked like we were turning the corner!
Jollymummy, hope your cold goes quickly!
Carolyntia, sorry to hear about your accident, it must have been scary, glad to hear you are going to be well.
Here are mine for today:
1 - Long lie-in and breakfast in bed (courtesy of me, got up, made it and went back!).
2 - Only 1 1/2 hour work this morning and finished my monthly hours, officially I am FINISHED now, apart from the filing in April (but no more emails, updates or stats YIPPEEEEEEE!!!!!).
3 - Two free "creme-egg size" choc eggs from Thorntons, with the voucher I got from the freebies thread. Gave them to DD and DS (as they contain dairy - the eggs not the kids!). Better for my hips!
4 - Small portion of fish and chips for lunch, cheap but delicious.
5 - Free tea at M&S with the monthly credit card vouchers. Enjoying it while I can as I am going to give up this credit card once the year (minimum contract) is up in May.
6 - Met with another OSer and we went together as models to have our hair cut, had a fav treat and great cuts, looking very glam the both of us!
7 - About to go to bed (hospital appt tomorrow at 8am so it is an early rise!) and DH is taking care of making the bed and a cup of herbal tea while I am here typing (ahhhh!).
Good night all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all:wave:, just catching up with all your pleasures, DS off on Easter hols:easter_ba so not as much access to computer.
My 5 for today are,
1. HM ravioli again, so so easy and cheap. Trying to freeze some this time too.:money:
2. NSDs are becoming easier, and have managed to add another £100 :j to my savings. Trying to get 2k together incase my 10yo car dies.
3. Lying in bed this afternoon, listening to the rain.:)
4. DS bringing me hm pancakes and coffee for breakfast. In bed too what a treat.:T5. Lots of YS fruit and veg at mrTs.
Have a great os evening, hugs to all who need them:A. Love BTxx0 -
Calling Ollie, where are you?
Lol at the bowl of soup/soap CCP, funny how our eyes play tricks on us at times
funkymonkey849 your bedroom with the flowers and summer dresses must look so romantic and boudoir-ish
wssla00 the difference in your original order and the delivery price is , they must have made one heck of a mistake. I've never shopped on line and don't think I will after reading that!
emylika I like your smartness re OH 'volunteering' to help with the digging
nyksig can't wait to hear your progress reports with the puppy...you're making me broody for a new 'baby' now but I've no more space for one
kitchenbunny sorry you're having a bad time, hope you manage to get some peaceful sleep tonight
Kittikins pleased the car is feeling a little better, do you speak to your like I speak to mine? It even has a name, and gets stroked lovingly on the dashboard after a long trip...well it is getting on and needs all the encouragement it can get!
nuttybabe just picturing you sitting there all dry and warm and cosy and listening to the rain on the roof. How snug
GirlySquare I know what you mean, my DGD1 is 18 now and far too old for cuddles, but it's lovely when I go to visit, she always seems so pleased to see me it's good compensation
jollymummy my mouth is watering now, I refuse to eat hot cross buns until Easter (just a silly quirk I have) but with you talking about them the anticipation is getting just too much!
Oh dear Carolyntia, I am sorry to hear about your accident and hope your head is okay now. (Should have gone to Specsavers). Sorry, couldn't resist
ACEY you and your boys must be so proud thet got the BP awards. Well done them, something to treasure even when they're adults
Caterina lucky you to be able to get the eggs. I had the voucher but the nearest shop is too far to make it cost effective to collect them. It's a downside of living in the country
bunny too great news about your savings, MSE and OS certainly helped me and even though I'm only £40 up it's lovely to say you can put money away these days :T
My 5 -
1. Sending a parcel to the 3 DGK oop norf for Easter, bits and bobs from CS's so they all have a wee something. Apart from the pennies to buy themselves an egg each the postage of £2.10 cost more than the contents
2. Finding a free parking space right outside the post office, a rare occurrence
3. Using up bits from the fridge for dinner and discovering that Cumberland sausages go beautifully with Stilton, really!
4. DD offering me the use of her wm so I can get some heavy clothes clean. (How does one get a plumber to return ones calls ? I keep phoning local ones in the paper etc, but they obviously don't need the work)
5. Getting 2 free washing liquid samples in the post, just right for taking to DD's on Thursday
Night night (((everybody))), sweet dreams
S x0 -
Morning Peeps,
Tried to do this last night, but the internet was playing up again:mad:
Speedy 5 for yesterday as I need to get on the morning hamster wheel getting ready for work!
1. YS pizza and garlic bread from MrM, as I dont get home until 8pm on Tues after collecting DD from swimming, and the boys are all starving:rotfl:
2. LO HM stew for lunch.
3. Pleased with the display we have made about the TARDIS Eggsperiment. Even managed to make it look vaguely mathmatical!!:rotfl:
4. Took my 6th form to the local community garden project and the man in charge has agreed to plant our Elm on his allotment:T
5. Glad its the end of term, but I will miss my class. They make me laugh:)
Girly Square - I love the growing number of quotes in your sig, Must find some! Liked Desmond Tutu 'I'm not an optomist just a prisoner of hope' which was on Fern Brittain on Sunday.
Have a great day all. (I shall be doing stats all day Caterina)
HE x0 -
Carolyntia, sorry to hear of your accident, hope you're ok.
My 5 for yesterday:
1. Yummy Thai meal out with friends last night. Cheap, filling and delicious.
2. Short day at work, as I was on a course in the afternoon, so home early.
3. Getting messages from readers of my short story telling me that I'm a good writer, that the plot is well done, etc. Us writers have fragile egos and comments like that mean a lot!
4. Getting a lift home from my kind friend last night, as it was raining hard and I was planning to catch the bus home.
5. As I was home early, I grabbed the chance to have a nap - I have the bad tendency to burn the candle at both ends and so am often tired during the day. A short sleep set me up nicely to go out in the evening.
Must go - off for a spa pamper day with three girlfriends today, at Centre Parcs, Longleat!Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Morning,
Feeling a little fragile as went out with people from work last night for a collegues leaving drinks not a good idea on a school night.
Mine for yesterday
1.Sticking to the healthy eating yesterday apart from a few glasses of wine (it is made from fruit so can this count as healthy:cool:)
2. Managing to get another outfit for the wedding I am going to on Thursday as the one I originally bought looked really awful when I tried it on. Outfit bought yesterday was in the sale so didn't spend too much.
3. Work really busy at the moment but getting lots of positive comments from the team. I am on a very steep learning curve in this job so nice to know I'm doing OK.
4. Two free chocolate eggs in thorntons so one for OH and one for DD. I resisted eating any
5. Lovely evening out with people from work and some who used to work with. Great to catch up and be able to chat and relax. Our company has been really stressed as a whole for the last couple of months so nice to let our hair down. There will be some sore heads this morning though:D
Have a good day everyone and hugs to those that need them. CCP hope you are feeling better soon.0 -
Good morning  - sorry for not posting for a few days - just the usual
of stuff that passes for my life these days. I really need to catch up with all your posts, but I've not got time right now - so I'll post a few of my own:
1. Really busy Saturday with thorough cleaning and laundry sessions in the morning and whoopsie hunting in the late afternoon. Organic sweet potatoes for 94p; croissants 44p; scotch pancakes 26p; red chillis 24p; fresh bread rolls 20p; 'mangey tuts' 24p; bargain outfits for dgk's from the 'reduced rails' (I don't usually find very much in the sizes I'm looking for!).
2. Took dgs1 and dgd2 out for a few hours on Sunday, to get them out and give their mother a bit of a break. She made good use of her time, managed to get all her laundry up-to-date AND cleaned her kitchen while we were out of the way.
3. Still waiting for the dreaded one-to-one with Boss Lady to happen. She has now cancelled again and decided to do it at the same time as my Competency Review at the end of April. I'm still not 100% sure what the difference is between the two - I just have it down as she comes for a bit of a chat about the job, how I'm handling it and is there anything that I'm concerned about in particular.
4. Not managed to spend any of my gift vouchers yet - truth to tell, I don't shop in any of the places listed as being where we can use them. They don't have 'Argo$' printed on them, so can't be used there, which is a real pain in the posterior. Think I may need a bit of a chat to 'whoever is in charge' of selecting which ones we receive. I had been hoping to get myself a new digital camera but now looks as though that's out of the question - will have to think again - at least it's making them last longer.
5. Made a pan of Celery Soup yesterday, using up one and a half heads of celery, some chopped onions and some potatoes with veg & chicken stock cubes, dried mixed herbs, white pepper and celery salt for seasoning. It's my first attempt, and quite nice. Still needs tweaking, but will check out official recipes to see how they differ from mine. Will definitely do for lunch today - needed if that wind is anything to go by .
6. Have a late morning session with a couple of colleagues planned - there's an annual work 'thingy' that we all have to do and is best if there's a few of us together. I know we did the same thing last year, but it's so long ago that we've all forgotten exactly what was involved at the time - but it can be done 'on-line' so fingers crossed.
7. Will dig out a couple of frozen whoopsied deli-counter curries for evening meal - there's also some Indian 'snacky' bits that could do with using up - will make some more space in the freezers if I get them out of the way.
Hope everybody is keeping well and I promise to have a good read and do another posting later this evening. Take care all - love Ollie xxx
psto all who need them.

Morning all.
Thanks everyone for your sympathy while I'm feeling sorry for myself. Hugs to all who need them, as I'm clearly not the only one feeling weary and unwell.
I need to revise one of my four from last night as my sister did call after all - it wasn't quite such hard work as I expected, either, despite her being so drunk she failed to notice from my constant coughing that I'm not well. I should probably be grateful for that, actually, as she tends to panic when people are unwell.
I can now change last night's #3 to: Spoke to my sister on the phone and got her to agree to my invitation to go to her favourite musical. I invited her ages ago but she hadn't responded as she can't afford the ticket - once I said I'd pay she accepted instantly.
Ollie - it's nice to see you back. It's seriously windy in Portsmouth today, too, so I've gone for soup for lunch as well. We really shouldn't need soup at this time of year.(Particularly as the tub I put mine in to bring it to work leaked everywhere - sums up my week so far, really!)
Tealady - hope you feel better soon. It sounds like your night out was worth the sore head, though.
house elf - I'm pleased to hear you've finally found a home for your elm tree. Long may it thrive!
Carolyntia - ouch, is all I can say! Hope you're feeling better now.
wssla00 - I forgot to ask yesterday - did you complain to Asda about that ridiculous change in price? I can understand prices changing slightly between order and delivery, but trying to charge you nearly three times as much is just... ridiculous! (Sorry, I'm spluttering with indignation on your behalf here!) I would definitely go back and let them know you're not happy - if nothing else, it might stop the same thing happening to someone else.
Has anyone heard from newlywed recently? I haven't seen any posts from her recently and would love to know how the interview went on Monday. newlywed, if you're out there!
I'll pop in later and catch up on how everyone's doing.Back after a very long break!0 -
Morning all
My five for yesterday:
1) Homemade scotch pancakes for breakfast - yum! I am the best mummy apparantly lol
2) Postman bringing some pretty tea towels i ordered - polka dot ones!

4) Lots of cuddles from poorly DS
5) Winning an ebay auction for some jungle stickarounds for DS's room, we're decorating on bank hol Monday and hes going in a big boy bed.
Take care all, have a good day
Kate xxx0
