Thanks Ampersand.
I was thinking earlier, I can't remember the last time I felt this happy and settled. Hopefully nothing will derail it. My not all OS collection:
1. See comment above.
2. Just arranged a budget payment plan online for my N.I. contributions, HMRC have changed the direct debit system, making monthly or weekly payments a new opt-in process, requiring a new direct debit. I found the required reference number on my existing direct debit, TG I didn't delete it. I suspect some will have.
3. Managing to cram a huge amount of recycling into the bin, due to zestful leaning in and compressing. Mostly cardboard from freebie packaging so thankfully the bin was very light. Also the thoughtful kindness of S. who manages next door, as I was bringing the wheelie bin back in.
He was offering help, but in a way that made it clear he realises it's important for me to bring the bin back in by myself; one day the help may not be there if I start to rely on it.
4. Finally the wind has dropped enough for me to spray weedkiller on the patio, on the cobbles on my frontage and at various spots on the flowerbed. Normally I pull weeds out, but since I developed arthritis, I've had to resort more to chemicals.
5. Debating doing the cauli mac, I probably will. I like the idea of stashing my own ready meals in the freezer.
Good to see someone else seconding the peach and chickpea curry, VJsmum!
Anyone else have a favourite Jack Monroe recipe that works really well? (Most, but not all, do.)
6. I've been offered a steam mop by a seller to review, woo-hoo! I gave mine away to my oldest buddy locally, as he has four cats and was really concerned about kitchen hygiene. Shoves head around door, briefly!
On holiday at last, we got to the beach. Paddling in the morning calm, wavelets nuzzling my feet, I chucked pebbles for as many of you as I could remember that you might share the relaxed, sunlit delight. So if you have an unexpected moment of calm, ampersand, frith, mhagster (& OH, & children & Haggis), VJsmum, McCullough (& DrC), sparrer, BoP, villagelife, purple kitten, kittikins (& daughter) & others whose names I couldn't remember but whose posts have stayed with me? It's a zen hug sent through the seas!0 -
Thank you DfV, you've given me a warm glow thinking of the pebble
x
Hoorah for Master Frith, well done chappie on having that pesky op donex

DfV, I wonder if my realisation of happiness came at the same time that pebble went bouncing into the sea? Thank you. Dr C had a very upbeat post on FB too.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Frith pleased son's surgery went alright.
DfV lovely post thank you.
It's been a good couple of days since my last post.
1. DS1 has a job. Not quite what he wanted but will be money and not too consuming so he can finish his dissertation.
2. DS2 is still working with his temporary job which is mainly weekends.
3. I now have a greenhouse. I now need to fill it.
4. Chat with a neighbour and admiring his tiny granddaughter. She is the 17th.
5. Walked to the postbox and came back by a long route and noticed the blackberry are nearly ready to be picked. It was a lovely walk and saw lots of birds.0 -
News live from the nest.
BoPse, has done her best to entice BoP out.
5 The smell drifting through BoP palace, of snorkers being grilled has a affect on BoP. He is up, with a plate full of Snorker, bacon, mushrooms, tatties, toms and toast. Washed down with tea. Sits rubs gum.
4 Raffles is off his food. In fact he has turned his nose up on his latest offerings, and has been out getting his own. There are bodies everywhere. Worming tablet town
3 And really you have a prenup for a pet. Thought it was feeding peanuts for the pet! Raffles he stays with me.
2 Day. PM2DD UTM. Here we go again!
This post was bought to you by BoP. Take with salt!0 -

4] which then made space for son's discarded pine bureau. it was missing the little handles for pulling out the desk bit rests. proved challenging to find knobs that screw in, then hit upon idea of using curtan tieback hooks. perfect and only £1.78
5] gbf and lunch date having retired, am having to make sure i go out for a walk at lunch time. we have a lovely arboretum with a community garden tended by staff from the different wards in the hospital grounds so have been enjoying wandering round.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
