    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Took smaller son's drone for a fly.

    3) There have been 2 days of cleaning/gardening/painting at the village hall so I popped over and cleaned the windows for them.

    4) School friend popped over to give smaller son his birthday present.

    5) Camp fire with sons and my brother. Cooked sausages over the fire and marshmallows. They did a lot of sledging down the hill on the bracken!

    6) Enjoyed watching Humans.

    :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
    1. Written with extra SEEEEEEETHE - waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting. 'Absolute Promise 1st Appointment' broken for 4th time. This has been ongoing since May. So much dismembering/heaving/shifting etc has to be done and have taken in someone else's goods and chattels[mid-move storage] over w/e. Chaos therefore. The blutty person - I'm now promised.....again...will be here before 17h. Means other peeps inconvenienced and already one emergency cover invoked>Adbkes. Can't even get out to post sth as this will surely be when person finally deigns to arrive.
    On verra.
osp? - good rant to start week:D.

    2. Written with slight SEEEEEEETHE - early service yday in order to accommodate 1130h>Caroline Flint. Double-checked, to be told 'in fact, 13h', so started baking, but call came re: sth else, ending 'Thought we'd see you today, Caroline Flint.' 'Yes' says & '13h' 'No, 1130h, she started a bit over half an hour ago.'
 Zoomed in. Made it for final 2 sets of ?s and chat afterwards.
Now, I DO very much like her. 1st time I've seen or heard her. Knew nothing about. Atrractive in all ways, intelligent, warm, direct, total engagement and very skilful manager of peeps and discussion, which was not an avoidance/detour technique. Real Person and nettle-grasper of the 1st water, which is sorely needed.

    3. em<Spain. 'When are you coming down?' They've phoned, got nowhere, asked someone at charity where & was. This was their 4th email. I'll leave now.:j.

    4. Vicar's sermon ventured gently but clearly onto necessary ground some felt unhappy hearing.
    Imperative.
    She really is brilliant.

    5. Written with :mad:annoyed at self:mad:SEEEEEEETHE - no-one made me try to give sheepy car cushion[gift ex NZ 1980]a gentle wool wash. I'd managed to let black green tea thermos leak through it in France, so discoloured, but not dirty as grimy such. Disaster - it's disintegrated completely, hide and fleece in tiny shreds - sheep felt. Looked again. Prog. 7:mad::mad::mad:, not 6 - so it's had 60c+ditto pre-wash and fast spin.:eek::eek:.

    That sort of day:p

Think I'll go and pick raspberries, shift watering, see if Monsieur Grenouille likes the little roasting dish plus rock aka watery stopover & concocted under the phlox yesterday after he jumped through the lemon balm as I bent to outside tap...usual &apology made for encroaching on his space.

  • 1) Trip into town to do a couple of errands for He Who Knows included a pop into T*sco where I got 2 lovely big Sirloin Steaks reduced to £2,60 each!

    2) DD1 rang me to say the woodstove company that installed her burner 18 months ago arrived on time to do the reinstallation, have put down a double damp proof membrane, a brand new hearth to replace the one that broke in half and had the stove reinstalled within 3 1/3 hours. Good job , well done, RESULT!

    3) They have left her the bigger piece of slate from the broken hearth and it's big enough for her to make an outdoor table with.

    4) DD2 and OH have found another house that they really like after withdrawing their offer on the first house when they found it was surrounded by student lets with ongoing noise issues. They have put in an offer on the new one and are waiting to see if they are accepted.

    5) Finally made contact with my neighbour and managed to tell her we can't make her DHs birthday party on the 15th due to a prior commitment. Been trying to catch her for a couple of weeks no with no success.

Afternoon all - waiting for my leek and potato soup to cook and i'm STARVING

Pleasures since waiting for a train on Saturday

    1. Train caught!:p A group of drunken "youf" got on. One was extremely drunk, the others not so much. However I really liked how they rallied round to take care of v. drunk one. Hope he returns the favour at times. heard one of them say "well, he's me mate. I'm not going to leave him". :T
    2. Because of cancellation, had loooooong delay till next train home. So walked from Victoria to Euston. A cycling event was on - Ride London. Smiled at the juxtaposition of two signs "Welcome to Ride London" next to "please dismount" with a bike symbol with a line through it. :rotfl: Called in at the Wholefoods Market at Piccadilly and purchased a healthful tea
    3. Good long sleep - didn't wake up till 9 yesterday.
    4. Day of gardening - looks much better and was lovely to be outside
    5. Barbeque on the chimenea in the evening
    6. MiL not too maudlin. She can be difficult, calls her home "the place" i.e. "I have to buy a new fridge for the place" - funny and tragic and frustrating as hell
    7. Met friend for coffee and catch up.

    Have a grand afternoon all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Good morning from the land of 1.7o Celsius at the moment, tad chilly here this morning but the sky has a blue tinge and will hopefully brighten up.
It's Tuesday morning , it's my first day off and it's nice to be up and about when it's daylight instead of creeping quietly around in the dark .

So far I've written my to do list , which includes 10 items to go out to charity and I've already found 4 but i'm not sure whether a blue pumpkin soup tureen and 8 bowls counts as 1 item or 9!

I'm glad work is over for a few days but I'm grateful that I have a job, that I like my work colleagues, that we can still laugh ( slightly manically at times) even though we are under pressure and busy as we have been past few days.

OH popped into his work for a few hours ,first time in 12 weeks. He's hoping to return soon. I don't think he's quite ready but I suppose he won't know until he tries.

I'm sitting on my sofa in the dining room watching parrots fly ( very noisily) overhead) and as always I think wow! I live somewhere where parrots fly overhead!

Right, better get off my backside and start the day, lots to do, lots to tick off and hospital all afternoon.

    Sleep well !
  • 1) 2 washloads on the line early and dry by 9.30 this morning. Now back in the airing cupboard.

    2) Photos sent home by DD of a holiday she and He Who Knows had in Norway and also some lovely pictures of the Zebra child reading his book with both of us.

    3) Pasta sauce for lunch made from this years tomatoes roasted in the oven and sieved, delicious!

    4) Lots of butterflys on the buddelia today, it's warm out there and they are actively feeding, lovely!

    5) He Who Knows has fixed the fridge door, it wasn't closing fully and the light kept coming on which affected the internal temperature, not any longer, he's a clever lad!

Pleasures for yesterday (Monday). Can't remember everything we did but will have a try:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) An afternoon of flying drones! Had a go with it at mum and dad's and the wind took it. Found it a few hundred metres away, in the bracken.

    3) Flew the drone in the village here and lost it. :-/ Spoke to some locals I had never met before and got to search a lot of back gardens!

    4) While we had our tea, brother searched for it (for over an hour) and found it!

    5) Swimming. Managed 1km, longest distance I've done in a long time.

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep. Finally woke sons at 8.50 ready for....

    2) Birthday cooked breakfast for smaller son at mum and dad's.

    3) Had a mammoth game of cricket and I managed 21 runs.

    4) More drone flying!

    5) Went bowling after lunch.

    6) Dinner at Frankie and Benny's.

    7) Looking forward to Holby City now.
