And Vote the B-astards Out gets a jolly extended more-than-mention. YESSSSS:-)!!!
    As does Stephen Taberner's kiwi-ness.
Hang on for the Roar and We Are Not A Men's Group.

    2. Disengaging from a cliff edge situ. [next day edit - someone else's.]

    3. Stripped down and re-wired stick blender. Ça marche!!! Did you get to your leek and tatie soup, vjm? & has her lethal blitzing tool working again - sortakinda gazpacho thingy, with new and latest French garlic added. Consuming post-this.

    4. More fix-it. Drawer front, which fell away in cuisine. Replaced trashy original screws.

    5. Hier's rant repeat waits finally ended. '1st call - promise' arrived at 18.07h.
Man said 'They say that to everyone.' Told him three times not to talk garbage please, just get on with it and stop trying to show off to an architect's and builder's daughter. He then looked at & and saw &, apologised, laughed, and did so.

Been reading but not posting much as not been well and just about managing work and the odd diary post as all things money saving seem to be challenging too! Must try harder to focus on pleasures!

    1. Gardens at work looking amazing - shame my garden is not quite as pleasurable but definitely brightens my day!

    2. Nice to have no study to do - a pleasure reading real books not work books

    3. Great catch up with a friend tonight - not seen her for a few months - nice not to have any dramas to report

    4. DS and DD3 back from Dads on Sat - missing them now so will be a pleasure to have them back (for 5 min anyway!)

    5. Early night tonight - trying to listen to my body and get more sleep!!!

    1. DD and I had a fab holiday in the Balearics :) We got back late last night, exhausted but tanned and happy.

    2. Made some new chums; her a BFF, me some new teacher-types, can't stop working even when sunning myself!

    3. Had my nails done and feel glam at the cheapy place mummykins and I frequent in the town near us.

    4. Lots of lovely memories - dolphins, swimming in the lovely clear, warm sea in various locations around the island, exploring and having fun with my little kitti :)

    5. Have been invited to a housewarming/birthday party later this week, on a Thursday, 'cos that's how we roll when it's the holidays! :)

Met friends for a meal yesterday and had a lovely time. It was to celebrate DH birthday. We caught up with so much news.
DS2 helped in the garden with some heavy stuff which was much appreciated.

DH given some cucumbers and runner beans which are good.

Taking lunch into work and so much tastier than sandwich from the local shops.
  • 1) the 'after the rain' smell when we had a short shower and I was waiting at the bus stop this morning.

    2) Just picked my fig harvest from the small tree we have in the garden, only 5 in total but a freshly picked fig straight from the tree is as near to heaven as it's possible to get.

    3) Oven roasted apples with maple syrup and ground cloves for lunch today, oh my, so good!

    4) Chopping another 2 sacks of apples to juice for cider, somehow always makes me feel thrifty.

    5) Visiting the greengrocers this morning and finding perfectly ripe pears at 99p a kilo, some came home with me of course!

And again south of SparraLands, it is the day before an Early POETS DAY! The nest beckons. Pleasures later.

Oh not, the charity bag is out with the refuse!
As nana BoP took BoP's hand at her church. She put nothing in when the plate was passed round, as she muttered that they had enough, and did not need to take off the poor.
She neither put, nor did she take.
    A valued lesson!

Good afternoon from a land of much cold and wet and such a grey day...however , it was a day off and has been all rather lazy!

Up early to chat with friend back home and then back to bed to watch GBBO...love it!

Late brunch of BLAT and a apple and pistachio cake for a very unecesarry pud.

    Snoozette.

Last night I went to PTA.....which actually got quite heated at times! A few opinions being voiced...often at the same time!

Went to ikea with OH......I love the place....him not so much! Have bribed son to build 2 chests of drawers at the weekend. Had meatballs for lunch.

I've been bringing empty one gallon sized glass jars home from work, so bought some pillar candles to put in them. Had them on last night and front room had a nice cosy glow and a nice smell too.

Had to help DD2 as she made her subject choices for next year. It's a very different education system from home...however as this is the third time we are at this stage here we kind of know what's going on. She needs to have some more self belief.

We did hospital on Tuesday , 15 weeks since diagnosis .our weekly sessions will stop soon. OH will be returning to work and maybe some sense of normality will return. Always onwards and upwards .....I am selfishly looking forward to a day off just for me!

Some of my seedlings are starting to pop through. I love the whole plant a seed get a plant business !

    Have a lovely Thursday :)
  • Caution. BoPsie active in this area.

POETS DAY. Nest beckons. More news later live from the nest.

    1) picking the dry haricot bean pods off the vines in the polytunnel today.I've just sat in the garden and taken the dry beans out of the very papery pods and got 17oz of beautiful dry white beans that look like canellini beans. They vary in size a bit but will taste fine. I've got twice that many pods finishing drying off on the boiler, wow, all for free!!!

    2) a drive out on a mission this morning that was unsuccessful but through some wonderful West Sussex countryside.

    3) Lunch out at a garden centre.

    4) Harvesting 'in bloom' globe artichoke flowers and hanging them in the summerhouse to dry for the winter.

    5) Just going to make He Who Knows and myself a nice cuppa, it's hot work in the polytunnel on a day like today so we deserve it!

    1. Both DD's and Dr C's birthday presents have arrived. Dr C's is the 20th and DD's the 28th.

    2. On the 26th Angrove Fatrascal, one of the two horses I own a tiny share of, runs in his first race, at Catterick. Hopefully I can arrange to be there.

    3. Culinary delights. Being able to cook exactly what I want to is a complete joy. Last night it was Jack Monroe's Peach and Chickpea Curry, which is so much nicer than it sounds, if you haven't tried it.
I was going to have her Cauli Mac and Cheese this evening but the sight of another tin of chickpeas tempted me to shove said chickpeas in the food processor with a handful of Aldi's super-mild garlic cloves in chilli oil, plus 2 tbsps of the oil, 2 tbsps lemon juice and a big shake of cumin.
Thirty seconds of blending gave me a bowl of lovely hummus and with crispbreads I had a very tempting snack.
I should have put some in the fridge but I ate the lot as it was so delicious... Further food not required. :o Defrosting bacon (actually Heron's gammon offcuts as it's cheaper than bacon) stays in the fridge and the Cauli Mac and Cheese is held over for tomorrow.

    4. Various goodies in the post. Including a wonderful book to read about ash trees by Robert Penn, can't remember if I mentioned this. Robert has had a series on TV about his wood in Wales. Book not out until Oct, I have an advance review copy.

    5. Your pleasures, thank you.
