5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Just showing my face, I've been very lax about posting on any of the forums recently
1. A long weekend away with friends, a little bit emotional as Friday was the 1st anniversary of losing my DM, Saturday was my !!th birthday. After letting the butterfly balloon go over the lake (DM loved water, one of the reasons she would never move from Henley) with a few words I was surrounded with love. I'm so thankful for my dear friends, I wasn't in the mood for celebrating but they did manage get me on the dance floor a few times which in fact I quite enjoyed
2. A little girl in the hotel liked my black silk pants, black and white top, black patent heels and bright red jewellery. She said if I hadn't been wearing red I'd be in chromosome :rotfl:
3. I've been feeding and spoiling next door's cat while they're away, he loves the fresh fish I give to Finn but promised not to tell. I just hope he behaves and eats the packet food they buy him when they come home
4. A skein of geese flew overhead when I was mowing the lawn. Funny, clumsy, noisy birds.
5. A helicopter from the nearby RAF camp and two bi-planes from the local airfield have been flying overhead of and on through the week, so with the geese as well we've had quite an air show.
Back to the garden between showers, have a good rest of the day0 -
Lots of pleasures.
1. Lovely meal out with good friend.
I hadn't been to the pub-restaurant where we ate for a long time, but thankfully the food and service was very good.
We sat at the window, I always like eating under natural light. I had an unusual but tasty tart of pulled pork and beans under a breadcrumb topping. The dried tomato pastry was slightly tough but novelty pastry often is, as its handled that bit more.
2. Rather than eat overpriced stock puddings we popped into a local supermarket on the way home and got two cream cakes each for afters. Yum. Also got a few YS bargains.
3. D SoniL and DD helped Dr C to move a large amount of 'stuff' out today. DSoniL dropped DD off, and took boxes of stuff already packed up along with a microwave and hoover to Dr C's.
DD packed up stuff ready for Dr C and DSoniL returning and a car packed absolutely to the gunnels left.
4. The return of a lot of stuff that Dr C shouldn't have taken, including a whole washload of my clothing. It was in a plastic tub waiting to be hung to dry and he scooped it up with his things.
Typically, he hadn't touched it so it had to be washed twice to get rid of the musty smell, but at least it was rescueable.
5. My kitchen is now how I want it, so is my lounge, hallway, bathroom and dining room. When the rest of Dr C's stuff has gone the rest of the house will be to my satisfaction too.
Getting there, after nearly 40 years of having to have things the way other people wanted them, or at least a compromise solution.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
BoP. Just as you closed the door. Live from the nest.
No peeping now. Wobbleade is served. Cheers!0 -
Firth, So sorry for your loss:(
I wrote out my resignation today, and then tried to see sense at least for a short while. I talked to dh and db about what is going on and they supported me whole heartedly but my own sensible head kicked in and said if I can “stick it out” just a little longer it would financially make much more sense.
1. Home and made a curry.
2. The washing load is on.
3. The animals showing me I need to cut the grass outside as they slid about in it….
4. Reading everyone’s pleasures0 -

Quick pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Smaller son went to watch the cricket at New Rd with my brother and my second dad.
2) I popped out (sons back tomorrow so getting everything done!) and had my hair cut and went to Beard No More. :-/ Not its real name but the lady did look at the waxing strips and go "Ooooo!" so probably a good job I went.
3) Took the library books back, went to the bank etc.
4) Did 2 coats of paint in the bathroom and cleaned it all up so now it is done! Apart from the gloss...
5) Went swimming with my brother.
6) Dropped smaller son off at his father's after cricket and bigger son ran out and has made me a planter, complete with compost and plants. :-)0 -
Blooming feathers all over the nest. Think quilt has split. Now I will have to get up.
PK. Rule of BoP. It is morning now. Think. Last time boss of BoP did not like me, I waited for them to get rid.
5 Just had the sun enriched vitamin fortified flakes of golden corn, jam on toast and tea.
4 The rest of the Day, BoP will be naturally warming in the Yellow Thing
3 Last night BoPsie enticed BoP with some Wobbleade and nuts. Nice to be back on the nest, see feathers.
2 Day we are off to the dump with some rubbish.
A fast reaction to the fancy dress!0 -
Back to work , which was fine.
Sunny day but ooooh blooming cold!
Train was free.
Percy pigs delivered and consumed, mainly by DD2 ...poor DD1 never got a look in! I gave her a bag of fox's fruits from my secret stash!
Lovely tulips bought.
Snowdrops in the garden.
Have a lovely day...wasn't that a quick month!
See you all in August!0 -
Your 1st sentence bop - thought Raffles had brought in another protected feathered newt.....oh well. Trust he is still ruling bopsie's roost in your absences. We hear nul of his scrabble victories nowadays.
pk-note bop advice. It took a while to secure this job. Just swap your time for their money until better arises.
Frith - Fabtastic cricket day for ss. Also, handovers/time apart sound less fraught...all down to you again. Hard, I know, so Well done - and on bathroom.
Please stick with that job at school. The Frith we know is needed there to offset the things that at first upset you and their timetable muddles.
Furthermore, whenever I see trolleys with needless bought WEDGES, I think 'Frith's, h-m'. Happened again yesterday - huge, huge, huge Fen female, trolley groaning with muck....stop&, before Boycott rant sets in. It's so alarming, when little peeps know only this stuff as food.

1. Dazzling couple sortied d'emporium, 50-ish. He, tall, well-built black chap in slate matte silk/vicuna[asked] suit, presence and comportment; she, european, hair pagoda tight and high and speared, black empire line top, then falling diagonal squares of black, lovat, old gold, olive all layered and stitched at varying hem points with hand-hammered shapes in copper. gold, silver, bronze, echoed in big neck torc, bangle, ring, bag and on shoes[all made by her]. They possessed their space completely with quiet affection, smiles, talk, bottle of champagne, cakebox. Overall impression was muted and understated, believe it or not.
& said 'you look wonderful' and they said how happy they were and how lovely to be told.

Old news apparently, but & has only just heard, on back of this:

Goody goody goody.
3. The gang. Larkers, saunterers, those dear unfinished things called adolescent males. Through gardens towards town centre with kk donuts etc. One dropped A Rubbish, which rolled back over &'s foot. Two saw, told mate, who ran back, apologised, binned it - at which point they all decided to finish eating around the flower beds, upon which they were commenting -
Hey, look at these... Hey look at this huge bumble bee... Hey come and smell this, pick a leaf... I like this one... My Dad does all this stuff...
They then posed around the beds, argued about pics, so & offered. 5 cameras/phones used. Good osp. and & 'good' re: rubbish.
'Yeah, well if people just muck it up, what's the point?'
4. tothedumptothedumptothedumpdumpdump - dragged all of neighbour's sodden, heavy carpets on board, not easy, not quick. New Italian voice from down road offered help. Gladly accepted. Nice exchange. Same at dump end. Good crew there nowadays.
5. Charity Norman. Author name just struck me in Library. dkw. I've known Faith-s and Hope-s. Added it to quick borrows without looking further, something I never do. Blow me down. Turns out she lives in NZ&town and better-than-decent story is bookended with fictional Hawkes Bay Today reports.

& can't always subdue Compare and Contrast in thoughts when dealing with certain peeps. Casework on the up - sign of gumment times. Lots of 'emergencies' and sudden call mtgs of late, all re: nothing, but consuming of time, people, resources, learning, goodwill, Ad'bkes - and trashing, spurning the lot.
