1. Cajun style chicken breast for dinner (with very MS spices bought at cash & carry) plus leftover potatoes and some rice for OH. Enough rice and chicken left for tomorrow's lunch
2. A quiet Monday at work - always a relief
3. Watching one of the more recent Poirot repeats. Love him always but I miss the original 20's style theme tune from the old days
4. Found large containers Method washing up liquid reduced to £1.50 (half price). This stuff smells so nice that I actually use it as handwash - with the bonus that it's much cheaper and twice the size!
5. Came home to a nice cup of tea and stood in the doorway watching the rain as I drank it - normally a winter pleasure but I'm trying to be more upbeat and not moan about the weather, so decided I enjoyed it.Looking ahead0 -
1.Let’s ignore work the only pleasure is it pays bit ha found the pleasure:p
2.Reading a good book on the kindle and have a lot of paper CS ones.
3.Came home to impromptu gardening thanks to the animals err re potting my Aloe:eek:! So I’ve recovered some of it but the soil is still on the stairs well all over them to be precise.:rotfl:It's a good job they are cute!:)
4.Leftover pork became sweet and sour with rice made by me with half price lidl bits from stash that tasted absolutely fine.:)
5. Applied for a couple of roles, here we go again, but I am also putting work into going it alone but the more work I do the more I realise it takes time.:o0 -
Quick update tonight as I'm tired now.
1) Not a bad sleep. Once I actually got to sleep (c. 3am)
2) Builders have finished! Very pleased with it - just need to paint it now.
3) Went to a local garden centre with play area to have a cup of tea with my school friend and her children.
4) Went to town afterwards and did the charity shops. Got swimming trunks for smaller son, trousers for me. Also did some Primarni for sons' trousers.
5) Popped to Dunelm for tea towels (I have found nowhere better!) and B and Q for bathroom paint.
6) Some nice Skype chats with sons.
7) Picked up an Indian takeaway for tea. They don't deliver this far from the restaurant.
8) Enjoyed listening to Clue in the car.
Sad news from sons, that has upset me on and off today. Ex husband's uncle (who stepped in when his father left when he was 2) is expected to live only another 24-48 hours. He is 91 and has already survived lots of health problems that he was not expected to plus some hairy motoring moments before he finally gave up a couple of years ago! Sons are with their father this week so are very much caught up in the goings on there. Uncle never married and has no children so the ex husband is there most days, it seems. I haven't bumped into him for a few years but he was here daily for a cup of tea before the ex left.0 -
Mrs Lurcherwalker, thanks for sharing the joy of seeing loads of bumbles - my lavender is attracting loads too (But haven`t seen `em today as at work 12 hours) Enjoy your Spanish sojourn!
My pleasures today -
1) Utterly MANIC Monday on the ward, but have a sense of achievement at having survived it without feeling particularly grumpy/hard done by, despite carp staffing and 2 lots of malfunctioning equipment. Lovely patients, felt `bonded`, with a couple of the difficult ones, and came home feeling very positive about my day.
2)Got my next rota. It`s the last full-time one I`ll have, as I`m `retiring` soon but going back part-time, I couldn`t give it up while I`m fit to continue but I`m so looking forward to that. Feel like I can put more into my hours at work when doing fewer of them and less tired.
3) Now have FOUR days off, and eldest DGD is in residence till weekend, lovely.
4) OH booked holiday today - a week in Suffolk, near Minsmere, September (got to take my remaining annual leave before retirement date) lots of driving (me)navigating (OH) , may sound odd but my kind of fun, really love this kind of hols. (Any recommendations of places to visit gladly received, btw)
5) LYM - Little yappy mare doglet (JR X Cavalier, age 9, adopted 2 years ago) proudly brought me a carrot when I came home tonight. She is the first small dog I`ve had, all my dogs all my adult life have been rescues but as it happened they`ve all been large, and not accustomed to little ones I admit to overfeeding, so we are on a diet, and it`s working well - she now accepts a raw carrot as a treat, but only because she thinks the cat might want it!!0 -
Been very busy for the past week or so. Trying to keep house tidy and the garden under control!!
Enjoying gooseberry jam on toast for breakfast. Kindly given by a neighbour as I had given them some eggs. There was no need but pleased they did as it was delicious.
Courgettes and the boys deciding they liked them in a cake. Made a couple and banana cake some of which I put in the freezer.
Potatoes from the garden such a wonderful taste.
Meeting up with friends and having a good time with them.
Have sorted the cupboard under the stairs and can now find stuff in it.0 -
McCullough - twp adopted by sons already! Love frozen Lego...
Frith - all luck with holiday admin! Holding ex's uncle & you in my thoughts.
Bagpuss - delighted your family tree is blossoming towards you - prepare for epic Christmas card sending & start laying in stamps?!
Mhagster - OH has an AppleWatch? Fun, fun toy, but eek not MS. Stinky Haggis!
Ampersand - seek out care & solace? Wilco, but do thou likewise? Jewel jam - a delight to eyes & palate! Hwb already, ah yes, 'summer'.
VJsmum - put up or ship out? Owch, but recognise the situation.
Skint yet again - 20l almond milk? Well done!
Purple kitten - love the idea of a locomotive planter... Hear, hear on cash not vouchers.
MrsLW - more beautiful jelly? Splendid! Have fun in Spain & keep up Skype language skills!?
Village life - courgette in cake?! <dives for Google, emerges riveted> huzzah for cupboard under stairs!
OS Pleasures recently
The chap who minds our car park is very patient with me as I gibber a bit at reversing into a space with no backstop. His huge grin is very heartening!
When feeling a bit got-at by life, the Jaffa cake (or any reasonable facsimile thereof) is a remarkably comforting thing. (The box, waved above the head, does indicate both distress & the possibility of bribery to anyone minded to step forward with help.) Although the hot chocolate sachets have proven a potential chink in the armour!
"Moonbat!" - not essentially an American political insult but originally a prototype airplane. I foresee the word becoming a house term pretty quickly....
Sunshine as I walk to the office! Looks like it could be seriously hot - but the lads have floppy hats & I a multi-storey building... Still, Friday!
Waved to tailor!
Stumped past a pigeon only inches away & it ignored me. "It just takes a smidgeon" is now on my internal radio playlist !
Just sitting looking at a hedge & a stone wall. After a day repeatedly scanning computer screens, the colours of the wall & the greens of the hedge, and the distance at which to focus, are a treat.
Staying with friends - waking up to sunshine through sprigged curtains - which looked to my drowsy eyes as if we'd woken inside a pretty teapot.
Watching a Robin hop onto a drainpipe, inspect his realm then hop down for the next worm.
We went to Newark - and there saw the next step in pound stores and pound bakeries - the pound pub.--
We loved the raised map & Braille labelling - then sons "walked" through steets chanting "go go Godzilla!"
Himself's face when I bought him belt fittings copied from tenth century archaeological finds. (Unexpected free admission gave me a budget & him the fittings for a very long happy memory!)
Today is my last Monday in the call centre. [This year, mutters my inner cynic] We haven't quite got end of term glee, but there are suggestions of a team sherbet - although whether we'll be in a fit state to recognise one is moot!
I've a colleague whom I only ever seem to see with a knife in her hand. In the kitchen, fine. Walking to & fro, a little odd. In the ladies? Downright disconcerting, but we smiled agreement that it needed a lanyard. Lovely lady.
I had to walk in front of a waiting van - in the driver's enthusiasm to facilitate this, he accidentally bounced forward. With both of us unscratched, I was able to thank him & we chuckled together. I must Do Something about life insurance though. Next time I might not be so fortunate.
There's a rabbit in our carpark! Smart critter - plenty of fresh greens to nibble at & noone with guns. )It's not That Bit of Salford.)
My chaps know how to have a good time, and when they tired of the big city, I took then home past a building site where trees had been felled. The chainsaw wielders very sweetly declined all offers of recompense as they observed the lads piling lengths into the boot & me then tucking them in with a further lapful.
Son's blond moment - kettle on, reaching for mugs, picked up the TV remote... Er, not sure how much that'd hold!
Huge hugs to all who need them, hwbs thick socks & wellies likewise (Summer after all) and the trick to finding the next OSP is enjoying as much as possible as it happens?!0 -
DfV. Wobbleade emporium. My type of plaice. Rubs tum! Fresh dug spuds, buttered and minted? Manic Minday. Song in that! Liquorice and knocked down with ballot paper.
5 Just seen our friends hubby on tele. Hands of muck, proper engineering. Ring them bells!
4 Still south for winter. Just out of SparraLands. 1960 rabbit hutch this week, well more of pigeon loft!
3 Hearing chatter of others. So amusing, when your away. How some really let them self down. Shame, but just love it when batman notices and asks him to leave first! Should had pictured and face bucked it! No worries, BoP shall be more prepared next time!
2 Night BoP, not at pundpub, is sampling water! Rubs tum.
One hopes the hunter becomes hunted. Disgraceful attitude of someone with too much money and not a care.0 -
