No sons for a week now. :-( Lots to get done while they're away.
Ampersand - I'm looking forward to voting!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sons have skyped a few times.
3) Builder here for several hours and the bathroom is nearly finished...
4) Went to mum and dad's for lunch and sister, brother in law and niece appeared. Niece now 6 months old.
5) Went swimming with my brother.
6) Cleaned my bedroom properly (no more plaster dust!) and the kitchen cupboard below the bathroom which had rubble in it. :-/
7) Enjoyed watching Casualty.0 -
Almost bedtime !
My weekend pleasures included :
One day at work which went past quickly enough
One day off work which was just the right length of time!
Woke up early, phoned friend from home, lazed around in jammies for a while.
Bad dog! Back in the bath as he was rolling in blooming possum poop again. It stinks! So I have a very clean bathroom again!
Had to return an iron I bought last month, it was leaking water at the cable! new one bought.
Many bags of mulch bought in order to cover the area where bad dog is rolling ! Hoping it stops his nonsense. Bought a new lemon tree....hoping this one produces lemons.
Went to local cafe and had a pumpkin tart, not been for a while.
Had a snoozette.
Had to go to supermarket, not too expensive.
Final of masterchef ...think my favourite may be going home .
One more day to work tomorrow and then off for three. I'm really looking forward to my days off.0 -
Usual collection over a few days.
1. Phone calls from Oldest Friend and D.Sis, got to speak to my two great-nieces and great nephew. I had sent them a package full of goodies that manufacturers had offered me for review, much appreciated, apparently. One of them was an ice-cube tray of Lego-type minifigures, and ice-cube mini-figs duly appeared as Major D'Neph's FB profile pic.(My comment: 'For children under 5 and military personnel of all ages.')
2. More items given away for free on the local FB 'Free to a good home' FB page.
3. Just had a massive bowl of stir-fry, put together from almost past their best veggies from the fridge, chicken pieces, a pack of micro rice and giant instant noodles - so similar to the more expensive Chinese noodles but can be microwave prepared. The rest is now cooling for two good sized meals for the freezer and days when I CBA'd to cook.
4. I bought a bottle of fabric conditioner from Savers with a very feminine fragrance. For years I've had to use neutral fragrances as it does tend to stay on clothes and Dr C. didn't appreciate smelling feminine.
5. Working out a solution to tighten a very wide waistband on a pair of trousers that are now a bit loose. I do love it when a bit of lateral thinking strikes.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

Frith, you could have knocked me down with a ballot paper when I read 'I'm looking forward to voting!'
So, usual 'Just in', this time from excellent hustings mtg. Hall packed to gills. 15-20 had to listen from foyer. Amazing! I choose to remain undecided until I learn more of each on my own terms, preferably at mtgs.

1. & liked this candidate, unknown in any particular prior to[and he's a Capricorn:-)] Didn't speak in soundbites, took ?s in 3s, listened naturally, patiently and well, answered ditto, ducked nothing. Good with all people, undecided and interrogators, natural with youngsters. & observed for good half-hour while helping sort Hall after. He dived over to thank us warmly while driver for Bedford, anxious re: 1/2hr over-run, tried to haul him away. Was clearly lifted by numbers present, intelligent, impassioned ?s, able to be himself, un-murdoched. Read about his wife's courage too.
Met husband and wife couple who taught him early. They've followed and supported him since. Both retired Cambridge Uni lecturers now.
Yes, this was a real pleasure...and his 'Keep the faith' inscription in &'s Ken Livingstone book too.
2. Two unexpected and very special moments in benefice service this morning.
3. The rain, the rain, the rain. Down it came, still comes, and so cold - but & suddenly remembered and Declared a Smug as leaving no.2, realising I had brought washing in before leaving. Got that one right for once.
4. Rushing about then to get to last Open Studios afternoon and take stuff. Love their ancient tip-tilty timbered house. Love everything in it and about it, including the people.
5. From 3., handed over the big length of red fabric, dry at last, for LP use. Wow! reactions.

Explain choc liquorice svp Mrslw? Despite love of all things choc, & cannot do the other. Feels unnatural no-no.
IHannah - your lovely pleasures are so neatly written, succinct, unlike...umm, wonder rambly who?:o
Mothproof your wellies one and all and get splashing.

Scandinavians are big on liquorice, I've noticed. Germans too, you can get ammonia flavoured salty liquorice in Germany.
I can remember peering at the translation of 'salmiak' in disbelief.
Just had a lovely text convo with Dr C, with pictures of his new gaff with lots of stuff in situ.
Including a beautiful set of very expensive storage boxes, brand new, that I claimed with hard won survey points.
They are being returned. In my turn, I have promised him halogen light bulbs, if they fit.
