Good morning all from a warm, humid Hong Kong.
No rain though - which is A Good Thing
Mrs LW - so sorry about Docky
PK - hope you feel better soon
DforV - Mooky faht???
Pleasures for the last few (probably not very MSe or OS, but hey)
1. Strawberries from the market - warm and delicious
2. Getting a bit on top of work - hopefully may get ahead soon (don't speak too soon, you fool)
3. OK flights, lots of champers, watched the entire season of the THe Missing - except for the last 20 mins, which i shall have to watch on the way back
4. A walk along the Avenue of Stars in HK on an extremely warm evening. It gets dark just after 7, which makes megiven that i am one who loves the light. However, i sat outside S*bucks with a decaff and a scone, in shorts and t shirt watching all the lights and the traffic in the Harbour and reminded myself that it isn't too bad a job
5. OH is decorating V's room - bright red  I rather liked what i saw on the Skype. He "carried me" upstairs to see it, which is weird - like being a baby :rotfl:
6. Sleepeze aided sleep and a bit groggy on waking but better than the dreaded jetlag.
Okily dokily, i got work to do.
Have a great day - when you all eventually see itI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hello from winter .....brrrr! Chilly wind today.
Let me find some pleasures from the last few days, I've been working Friday- Monday....the first time I've worked 4 days in a row in weeks! We were quieter than normal Sat/Sun but madly busy today as it's a public holiday for the Queens birthday.
Yesterday I gutted ( and I mean gutted ) the kitchen and store cupboard at work....my boot is full of stuff to take over Salvos tomorrow . I felt very satisfied when it was done.
On Saturday I popped into salvos and was chatting with the manager, showed her a photo of the blanket chest I'd bought last week.....mentioned I'd been in to check the sofa price , mentioned I thought it was too expensive....so I ended up buying a sofa for $75 less. Will pick it up tomorrow.
Just made and eaten roasted pumpkin soup, ''twas ever so tasty. I put a drizzle of Tasmanian honey through it.
Nice chit chats on phone over weekend.
OH continues slowly to improve. Slowly does it.
I have not eaten as much rubbish ( delicious as it is at the time) today, I really need to start eating more sensibly again. Have been eating very emotionally past 7 weeks. Enjoyed oatcakes all the way from Scotland via Brisbane this afternoon.
There's been a few more, started a library book, had a bath, watched Holby, huggles with Haggis, laughs with co-workers , met a Newfoundland pup today , baked fabulous lemon meringue cupcakes at work.
2 days off ahead, looking forward to them.
Have a fabulous Monday0 -
Hi everyone.Been absent for a while. It's hard to keep up with all the posts.
The last few days...let me see:
-great men's final at Roland Garros.Still can't believe what a great match it was.One to keep and watch again!
Glad too that the women's final wasn't won in straight sets. :T
-it's cooler today.Not heavy/muggy like the weekend.
-plants on the balcony doing well.I'll soon have raspberries to eat.
-tentative holiday plans made for August.
-being very good recently about not spending money, especially as I don't have any spare, apart from my grocery budget.Thank goodness for budgeting.I don't know how I managed before...
-had a good hair day yesterday.
Have a good day all.0 -
Quick update for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Work hard going but have been asked to do several days of PA type stuff for the line manager and to teach something to a small group from September.
3) Got paid for my election work (different council) but seem to have been paid too much!
4) Popped into Malvern to look round charity shops but didn't find anything.
5) Brother is sorting out cricket tickets for smaller son's birthday.
6) Higgidy pie for tea.
7) Smaller son is going to play tennis after tea.
8) Looking forward to an early night and JAM later.
9) Smaller son very much looking forward to a school trip tomorrow - just chaps from his autism base plus several staff.0 -
1. Saw my cousin and her baby yesterday. We went for lunch at my Aunt's after collecting DS2 from uni. It was lovely seeing them all and as my cousin was moving next door I had to look after baby and let everybody else move fridges, washing machines etc!
2. Good journey back and very little traffic which was good as car was jammed packed with DS2 stuff.
3. Managed to spend an hour in the garden and weeded the fruit bush bed and realised how many gooseberries and blueberries I have.
4. We all watched Billy Elliot (or most of it) - its good to watch something which we all enjoy.
5. Washing in and dried on the line today.0 -
Inns Sparralands. Mid Sparralands and it's raining. Not bad seeing as BoP is away from the nest! Foraging for foods.
No pleasures, but notes that highlights are a trip to the tip, slow improvements. :heartpuls and the beat goes on. Lunch, water, beer tent, water! What is the world coming to? And thyme in bed :heartpuls
Read somewhere someone in dire straits because they cannot be bothered at 9am. Must remember that next Monday when I wake at 4:30!
Care what that your bum is not wiped by night nurse, but get up and do your best each day. Even if it was only an inch further today, the end in all, is much closer tomorrow.0 -
1) Redeemed Christmas present voucher and walked with Alpacas in the sun beside a beautiful river this morning.....that's probably worth all 5 of todays pleasures on its own!
2) Lunch out at the garden centre near the Alpaca farm and we were given 20% off the bill as we'd been with the alpacas first!
3) My friend and fellow dog walker called to see if I would like to go out with her tomorrow to a local outlet village as she's got to get something for her daughter.
4)Little grandson said his name for the first time when we were skyping this afternoon, took his mum by surprise too!
5) My dear old He Who Knows who is the kindest man in the world and is comforting me over losing our old hound at a time when he is hurting just as much as I am, he's the best!0 -
1. Worked from bed literally, checked the wireless on the laptop and worked, having had a dreadful night.
2. We had fish and chips, again a theme here dreadful, but used up what was in the freezer.:o
3. More flowers are coming out in the garden.:)
4. Having a proper play about with the animals in the garden in the evening.:o
5. Now relaxing on the sofa, painkillers to fight the temperature and knowing I have 5 solid days’ work until the next working at home as I can’t afford to be ill at the moment, just hope my body agrees.:)0 -
1. Sunshine!
2. Class photo...I'll be the old lady at the back, trying to hide behind the children, lol.
3. Amazing cuddles with DD, she gives the best hugs
4. Am planning to run away at 3:15 tomorrow so I can pick her up - yippee! (Also need to be home as mummykins is having an operation and I need to be here for the doggykins)
5. A lovely lady via eb*y is going to be making me a dress tomorrow that I will take to my residential trip, I'm so excited! I've got to be a Saxon but as I'm rather Rubenesque, I doubt that their clothes will fit me. I've found a stunningly gorgeous, if not remotely authentic tunic dress, emailed the designer as they made to order, and she said as she's not busy, she'll so it tomorrow. Oh to be so talented! With a shawl over the top, I'll look the business and I'll want to wear it again and again.
6. Took advantage of a fab deal on Crabt*** & Evielyn to buy end of year presents for a couple of lovely people I work with. Must curb my spending though....but the hand creams are gorgeous and I did get lots of freebies and and and.....
7. Had a fun afternoon teaching my class how to pronounce the alphabet in French. I'll start dictee soon, lol. Une portefeuille, un fauteuil.....I remember Mrs R so well!
8. I need to get back to marking the stories the class wrote this morning, they are hilarious! From the same stimulus, the variety of ideas is awesome, and some have even remember to put in a fronted adverbial phrase (which will keep Nicki Morgan happyThe pleasure is that I'm enjoying reading the stories and thankfully am getting better at deciphering the writing of 8 and 9 year olds!
