ooooh very early Tuesday morning following a very loooong night with not much sleep.

Text from OH yesterday morning to say I'm getting home today! Yikes!
So off I trotted into the City....not long to wait for a train, which was an express, so misses out loads of stations :), straight on a very busy Monday morning tram, then straight in a lift up to ward.
There followed a busy day of doctors, nurses, OT, physio, speech , nutritionists, pharmacy ( saying the infamous words....I'll have these ready in an hour) , social worker ( lovely lady but kind of looking for problems where at the moment there's none) , so all a bit of an intense 5 hours......of here's your hat, what's your hurry . Then goodbye.....and of we went to the Transit Lounge waiting for drugs....and we waited and then we waited some more about 2 hours infact ( almost 5 hours after visit from pharmacist) , now I know it's a busy old place but OH was tired, he was by now overdue nutrition, we still had to get home .....anyway, we got home 3 hours after leaving the ward. Due to the wonders of modern technology I'd ordered dinner on the way home from my phone. DS who was with us, was to go in the back door and take dog a walk round the block, DD1 was to let us in the front door , only she took ages, thought OH was going to pass out, so I was a bit grumpy with her when she finally opened it.

Anyway, he's home, we all have to readjust, to having a poorly person around, to anticipating his needs, to not have anything left lying around, to keeping an overexcited big daft pup out the way ( this will not be easy) .he has to adjust to not having a hospital bed, hospital chair, all the noise, all the lights , all the things that have been familiar to him past 2 weeks.
It will ( hopefully) all settle into place in a couple of days but yikes! we thought we had a couple more days before this was happening.

OH had excellent care in hospital , just one day there was less thought than care, but he was at the latter stages of needing the critical care in the critical care unit he was in. The guy in the next bed had just had an amputation and was taking up all the nurses time and attention, which is fair enough as OH would have had very intense nursing initially too. For me, it was hard seeing an overfilled bag of rubbish right next to him, him not having a proper cup to drink from but this was simply rectified on request, it just hadn't been noted by a busy nurse. I can recognise that I was over tired and over sensitive. He would not be in the position he's in now without excellent care. These nurses work so hard and always with a smile on their faces and were always pleasant.

Kids and I enjoyed our Indian food for dinner with leftovers for someones lunch today.
Watched Masterchef with DD1 and dog played with his new chew toy. He just can't play with his daddy yet and doesn't quite understand why. OH has had various areas sliced open and wounds that could be knocked by a great big dog.

Today I'm off and won't need to dash to city but must go to a supermarket , must go to a bank if I get a chance, I need to make soups and pur!e some veggies and some fruits for OH to have a stash in the fridge for next few days. I must remember to have patience and strength to get through next stage of recovery. Lots of friends were messaging me lots of encouraging ' that's great news' type messages , which of course it absolutely is but we still have a long way to go before he is anywhere near full strength. Our love for each other is strong enough to get through this stage....again!

Right, hope you've all had a fabulous bank holiday in UK, hope the sun was shining, I'm just going to get up and take dog out and start the day here .

I'm delighted for all of you mhags, having everyone back in the nest together. It's easy to say but try not to overwork yourself, I know the DD's and DS will help all they can so don't forget to delegate and rest when you can. Happy Tuesday :)

    Good evening everyone :hello:

mhagster - so pleased your DH is home! :j :j

    A pretty chilled day.

    1) Done a white wash. My white dressing gown was looking cream...

    2) Millie the cat has spent much of the day hiding behind the sofa, but has been a little braver. She's allowing us to fuss her every now and again, on her own terms. DH didn't have pets as a child, other than a gerbil, so didn't realise that Millie's wagging tail meant that she was in a strop! He knows that dogs wag their tail when they're happy but didn't realise it was the opposite in cats. We're pretty impressed with how she's doing. The only thing is that the cleaning of the litter tray is not our *favourite* thing to do. A necessary evil!

    3) Lunch out with my parents as they were on their way home from holiday. They popped in to see Millie, but just saw eyes behind the sofa! Lovely to catch up with them.

    4) Whilst my mum was here, I managed to give her a book which I'd already read - therefore there's one less book on my shelf! This is positively amazing. Really need to get another load of stuff ready to take to the charity shop.

    5) Had a peruse of recipes on the Simply Beef and Lamb website. My mouth is watering at the thought!

Good to hear MrMhags is home!

    Pleasures for today (Monday)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Had a cooked breakfast at mum and dad's.

    3) Their neighbour popped in to ask brother if he wanted to go and watch the cricket at New Rd. Phoned smaller son (mad on cricket) and he went too! Had to pick him up from his father's where they are staying til Wednesday.

    4) Went to see my aunty, watched the live Springwatch with her and had some lunch.

    5) Popped to the shops on the way home to get new, longer trousers for sons. Also had my eyebrows threaded and what has passed from being "sideburns" to a bit of a beard. :-/ It took her AGES to thread it all off and she says there is too much to thread in the future and it'll have to be waxed instead. So that's nice. :-/

    6) Stopped at allotment and weeded the onion bed, picked some rhubarb and planted pumpkins, squash, courgettes and outdoor cucumbers. I don't have time to maintain it anymore and it's looking sad.

    7) Cleaned! The living room took well over an hour but it's all done now.

    8) Smaller son phoned a few times. He made a miraculous recovery to go to the cricket but I don't know whether to take him back to the doctor's tomorrow. Can't go into detail but it's pretty grim. Good to hear from him and he's coping better than I would!

    9) Bed now with 2 hwb and about to listen to Just a Minute (sorry, Ampersand)

Not at all Frith - have all my JAMs, forever:-) Inadvertently heard some on r4x so had to dive away fast. Listen increasingly to bbcws when not France atm.
Connectivity no-shows, hit and miss-ery allsorts every day here now.

    1. Beloved NZ Uncle is 91 today. Just spoke to him:-))))))))))))))) - not in person like this time last year though. They're off to play 500 tomorrow, run Enliven on Thursday, are 'helping x out' on Friday.
Was very pleased to tell him Ben Stokes and parents are kiwis, Christchurchians - n.b. bop.
Benjamin Andrew "Ben" Stokes (born 4 June 1991) is a New Zealand-born English cricketer.

    2. Grass cut.

    3. Now there's more nest-building, right at &'s kitchen window in this,Clematis%20armandii.jpg
which has flowered for the first time this year.
So, robins gone, but blackbirds in and out, knocking into window at times. I see some tulle in there, last used as part of strawberry defence years ago. &'ll be having to do another pic progress.

    4. Just found delayed msg - one of &'s birds with broken wings touches base again. Good.

    5. Did the ridiculous big joint Roast Beef+yorkshire thing for one, moi, yesterday, part of freezer use-up intention, which constantly renews:-) It's good though. More left, with lovely gravy using organic shiraz. Avec fresh rainbow chard, rtc 15p within the emporium, as were 14 other f&v. &'s £1.86 bill included 2 full bags dropped off for friend en route back.

dd - total Pentecost red worn here:-)
If & has any round ball interest, it's canary-coloured, so good news in fenny region hier. Dates back to secondment year, Nantes, who are also Les Canaris, currently doomed to a 3rd year in 1er division. &'s was era of Mickaël Landreau.

Many happy tram rides up to Stade de la Beaujoire on a Friday after 'school' - completely different atmosphere to the violence and baying mob excesses of albion at that time. 'Bien mang!, bien bu', family times, bals dansantes often linked with fêtes champêtres etc. Saw Paul Scholes play there.

vicky- so, do I support sarrie=whoever-faces-tigs-conquerors on Sat? Nice to see Millie is training you both up in easy stages.

frith - well done that son for his 7 mile walk to school:-). Your allotment will understand, as will your fellow gardeners. It's looking to be a great rhubarb year here too.

mrslw- congratulations to your dd2. Cousin's daughter came down from Auckland to Uncle - her poppa - for birthday. Has surgery placement on Malta later this year! It's such a long haul for them, but it's all she has ever wanted to do. At Uncle's b'day last year, she was awarded a Scholarship, which was a marvellous and special surprise.

mhags - home is home, however things are. All of you will be so aware of it and it's truly levelling to think how quickly all has happened. Haggis, as new boy, will learn the recovery regime and you, dear mhags, must look after your good self exactly as well as you do everyone else, then a little bit more.
Work won't remotely think 'skive', even slightly. More likely just plain amazed at how you are coping, juggling, working, caring, smiling, baking, being you!

Hello, it's nearly bedtime as I'm back to work tomorrow but only for 3 half days.

Today, my morning was hectic. Felt a bit like a headless chicken at times but I got through and actually have managed to have a much more relaxing rest of day.

Morning , I had to sort meds and feeds for OH, a few days and he will be doing it all himself again.

Made porridge and stewed apple for him and have frozen blocks of these for him to use when I'm at work. Apples were from a big bag of apples DD1 had got for 99c.

Made soup, took dog his second walk, when I went out for the first about 7.30am the car windscreens had their first frost of winter on them.

DD2 a bit poorly so was off school for second day , had a GP appointment with her lovely, lovely GP who's about to go on maternity leave.

I went to supermarket and actually enjoyed going round. Last day of offer to get a free tub of dog food.....Haggis will be very grateful tomorrow morning when he gets his breakfast!

soup for lunch , made using up some scary veg from the bottom of the fridge, the whole fridge was a bit scary as I've not really been here much past 2 weeks. Anyway, sorted and refilled.

District nurse came in for dressing changes and then we were able to relax. I may have had a snooze....I had leftover curry from last night for my dinner. Kids had ravioli and OH had more soup.

Dog walk in the dark and cold with DD2.

Masterchef now and then bed soon.

    Have a happy Tuesday :)

Mhagster - Well Done! Now aim for not just 5 OS pleasures but 3 all-for-me and at least 30 minutes snoozette per diem? Lest you allow your work ethic and loving heart to wear you to a nubbin. Delegate to offspring, Ruthlessly. Not all ironing is mandatory and all clearing up after dog can be placed squarely in the hands of those in school.
Make time to snuggle up together & get family to take it in turns to cook? Haggis may only manage open sandwiches & Mars bars but at least no one's expecting you to work, update, wash, clean, iron and cook every day.
If they do? Collectively our Hard Stares will face down anyone foolish enough to interfere not just with healing but whole family recovery.
Huge hugs, very carefully applied, all round!
