Yesterdays good things
Lunch out at the garden centre, jacket potato with cheese and beans along with some salad, yum!!!
Watering the garden and hothouses in the evening, something I love doing and seeing we have another batch of asparagus in the garden bed which will be big enough to cut this weekend.
Walking the hound in the sunshine yesterday afternoon without a coat.
Going to vote, I always think how lucky I am to be able to and of the suffragettes who won me the right.
Snuggling up in bed for a read of my book as there was nothing worth watching on TV, lovely.0 -
Friday evening here and we are all watching '24 hours in the past'
Heating is on as it's chilly !
Last night my lovely hairdressers managed to accomodate OH at the very last minute, I could hardly speak through my tears when I went in to ask them . He has had his hair shaved off in preparation for surgery. When I said this morning that he looks very ill, he said I am very ill....I know said I but now you look it! I sat on the train this morning looking at all the men with hair! I know it will grow back but it's a very stark reminder.
He also has had a shock every time he's seen his reflection!
The hairdressers didn't charge us, which made me cry again....tears are never far away....I took them each a posy of flowers this afternoon to say thank you. Had to leave as I was in tears again!
Kept busy at work , just in tomorrow and then off for next four days.
Brought home some lovely Turkish bread, we'd had a wrong bread delivery at work. Had it for dinner with carrot and coriander soup.
Had a chat (and a cry) with the big two , talking about their dads surgery, DD2 had a friend in so will catch up with her over the weekend. We have a tough few weeks ahead but I'd rather they have some expectations of what's ahead.
I hope you have a good Friday, I need to stay up long enough to take DD1 out, she's meeting up with ffiends who will drop her off.

Right bags packed, POETS Day. Got to drive without conviction pass the signs at Whitney.0 -
Todays nice things!
1) Bumping into Charlie the retriever and his mum unexpectedly when taking the Dockling for his afternoon walk and having a nice stroll with them instead of on our own.
2) Homemade lemon dhal and vegetable curry with rice, homemade chutney and cucumber raita for supper.
3) Having a sort out in my wardrobe and on my bookshelves and finding things for the local sea scouts for thier jumble sale tomorrow.
4) Enjoying the village where we live and appreciating just what we DO have here and meeting lots of people I know to say hello to when walking this afternoon.
5) Making the aquaintance of Penny the new puppy who has come to live at the bottom of our road to keep Max the labrador company after his kennelmate Tai died a couple of months ago. 18 weeks old jack russel/minature poodle cross about 8"tall x 10"long wriggly squirmy licky bundle of black fluff, feet, pointy teeth and plumy tail and totally adorable. Of course she is ruling the roost and Max adores her!0 -

Mrs L - always good to meet a new puppy!
My good bits today -
1)Up at 6am for work, read email from ex DiL and eldest DGD, they have recently lost their beloved (rescue dog)akita, suddenly very ill & diagnosed with a tumour on his liver. They are not quite ready yet, but feeling a need ...not just being a dogless household, but knowing there`s a need out there somewhere, there`s a dog needing them. It`s anyone`s guess what they`ll take on, probably random, `unsuitable` but it`ll be loved. Cried when I read the email, glad for them and for some still unknown canine out there. Snotty start to my day.
2) Listened to Archers (saddo, ok!) while checking news - glad to see ukip not doing as well as we feared, final results not in but never mind.
3)Work. 7.30-8pm. Ward busy all day, patients lovely, more hectic after teatime (it does make me suspect they put something in the soup!!) Nobody mentioned the election, except one junior doctor who travelled home and back last night just to vote, and was quite tired today because it was a long way. He`s so conscientious it didn`t surprise me, hope he felt it was with it, bless `im.
4)Gave 2 colleagues a lift home, chat on the way re ward politics very encouraging. Off till Monday, also nice.
5) got home, licked to bits by my sweet little doglet, heated up the mince beef curry I made yesterday, steamed some rice and dished up - to close holes under noses of OH & DS - who had decided to go into political debate - GRRRR. SO glad I did that curry!
6) First time in weeks I`ve posted, despite reading & lurking most days. Feel I am no longer a `drop-out`!0 -

Me too, I keep meaning to "do it later". Road to hell and all that
Hugs and light to Mhags
Recent pleasures
1 lovely walk with OH on BH Monday
2 my girlie is home for the weekend
3 pile of marking finished (more to go though)
4 nice walks to /from work
5 chicken, chickpea apricot casserole I had the other night
6 first session as examiner for those seeking chartership in my professional body. As nervous as they were - nearly. Two passes, one fail - who I felt sorry for cos I did a hatchet job on himdidn't disgrace myself but lots to takeaway for next time
7 catching up with old friend at the above - and some former students who were also examiners, which makes me feel old
Decorating weekend, DDs room for DS. She has come home to help - bizarrely but I can get her to sort some stuff, (there's a bag of cuddly toys needs liberating) and she can choose the paint for her new room which is next.
Happy Saturday allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hello from chilly old Melbourne, we reached the dizzy height of 15o today with a cool breeze.
After an unsettled night with a sore OH, the alarm clock went off at 5.05am and I must admit to snoozing it a few times but needed to get up and at 'em for work. I'd a good shift, we were kept going without being too busy.
I'm off now until Thursday. Lots to get done before then.
Laundry cash paid
I left a list and a bribe of cash reward if chores were done.....chores were done
Bit of a birdy day. A beautiful lorikeet flew past, they're like a rainbow of colour. An ibis on the rugby pitch. An absolute squabble going on in the garden as about 20 Minah birds were shouting at the tawny frogmouths...who resolutely held their ground and croaked back at the minahs.....the frogmouths are still in their tree!
OH and I went out for something to eat, we just shared some wedges and had a mooch through the papers.
Then I did the grocery shop whilst he waited in the car. I got an absolute trolley full in aldi, should see me and kids for next couple of weeks. Just managed to squeeze it all away in our tardis like kitchen freezer.
Home and shopping away and a catch up on UK telly. I think heating will be going on soon, it's rather chilly, I shall hang another load of washing on clothes horse to make the most of the heat. We have floor vented heating so we just place the clothes horses above them .
Have a lovely weekend0 -
(((Hugs))) to Mhags and family for the days and weeks ahead x
1. DS off work with tonsilitis & employer said they will not pay him without a sick note ! Took him to doctors and they said they usually charge £30 for a sick note if you haven't self certified for 7 days - but they let him off this time. Antibiotics seem to have done the trick and he is feeling much better
2. voting over. Fed up of hearing about it but also glad no more junk mail through the door asking us to vote for people I have never heard of and have never been round here
3. simple dinner last night of gammon and eggs
4. work over with now until Tuesday
5. sunny morning and the lilac tree is in full bloom smells lovely

1) Going to the sea scouts jumble sale in the village hall and buying a huge christmas candle in a jar (with a lid too) complete with a glass shade and brass support for it for £1.
2) Using the rest of last nights vegetable curry and dahl to make a stonking good soup for lunch today.
3) Walking through the village and enjoying all the lilac trees that are in full bloom at the moment, all colours from snowy white through the palest of lilacs to a purple so deep it's almost black, all smelling fantastic!
4) Finding the very first few white flowers of elderflower open today on the footpaths and knowing it will soon be time to make Elderflower Cordial, my favourite drink for summer.
5) Having enough strawbeerries set on the plants in the garden to need to put the nets on to keep the birds off, which we've just done. It must nearly be SUMMER!!!0
