Carolyntia - sorry to hear about your job worries.

    5 for today.

    1) Had little son's SENCo meeting this morning and she was very attentive and helpful. Nothing is going to change until CASBAT have diagnosed whether he is autistic or not (presumably if not, they might find out what is wrong with him...?) So far the school have put him in their "time to talk" group, done precision reading with him, fine motor skills practice and put a pictorial timetable on the whiteboard for him as he never knows what time it is or what is coming next!

    2) The meeting started at 8.50 so once it was over I went to Ludlow. I did the 2nd hand shops and decided to get the boys something for their success at parent evening. Got them a book each and a wind up torch (from Oxfam). Also, next week their headteacher is leaving and little son and his class all have to dress up as the head. He often wears cartoon ties and there, in Oxfam, was a silk Wallace and Grommit tie for £2! So I got that as well.

    3) Back home and caught up on housework and washing and cleaned the stairs and kitchen floor.

    4) Went out for tea with my sister to Frankie and Benny's which is always good.

    5) I was then reminded by younger son that I'd promised him a football when he had done his first length so we popped to the sports shop for one of those!

All quiet now. Have a stinking cold but am OK otherwise.

    1. Had a bit of a senile but frugally greenfingered moment today.

    2. Made about 40 Staffs oatcakes, we ate lots for tea and i'm taking lots to my parents tomorrow and there was, yes you guessed, lots left over for the freezer!

    3. Prepared some plant pots ready for when i plant out my tomatoes seedlings in a few weeks time, or longer if i read correctly online today that there has been snow forecast for next week!

    4. Visited my folks, they only live ten mins away, i took them some of the goodies from my recent food order. Dad whined about eating out of date/close to end date food and then scoffed the giant eccles cake i gave him. Mum just told him to be quite and told me to ignore him. I love it when we girls gang up on him, all in a good humoured way of course. Most the time he is the only bloke amongst me, my daughter, my mum and the three dogs we have between us who are all female ( can't bring myself to refer to them as itches, IYSWIM).

    5. Vowed not to spend today but ended up placing a Body Shop order for items with the original selling price of over £70 now costing me only £12.80 including delivery. That's sorted out a couple of gifts for loved ones so the way i see it is that i would rather buy savvily than to lose out on a bargain for the sake of managing a no spend day which would end up costing me more if i didn't take advantage of such offers. I'm not sure what i just wrote makes any sense at all...

Huge hugs Carolyntia, I'll keep my fingers crossed that your job will be safe, such a horrible thing to go through (I can empathise from my own experience)

Mine for the last couple of days....

    1. I had a fantastic year end discussion with my boss today, and am happy with my pay rise, it won't make much of a difference in my life as it's pretty tiny but hey, it's a rise, so all good :)

    2. DD and I went to the theatre after school and saw a great play, then as it was lateish, went for pizza and icecream! (Okay, not particularly diet friendly, lol....)

    3. We also bumped into an old nursery friend at the theatre.

    4. DD has an invite to a school friend one day next week which is great as I'll be able to go to the dentist alone, what a "pleasure", lol

    5. Oops, had another wine-fuelled evening with my 'partner in crime' last night and managed to get through the day on 3 hours' sleep! This is so unlike me, I usually barely touch alcohol but ho hum, this is just a little blip

    6. My pa came down yesterday to see DD and do lots of DIY for us :)

    7. A lovely friend came over and helped my dad install a tumble drier for me, apparently it was v. heavy, so I'm really grateful :)

carolyntia - keeping everything crossed that your job remains safe.
jexy - hope everything is okay with you.

    Here are mine from today:

    1) An ultra keep fit day today - 10 minutes stepping when I got up.
    2) Then an hours walk along the cliff top up to the lighthouse and back.
    3) And 50 lengths of our local swimming pool this afternoon(it's not a full length pool though!).
    4) Made a very delicious Dorset apple cake to use up some wrinkly apples. Hope that doesn't cancel out all the exercise I did today :o
    5) DS2's utter delight at finding out there is a 'Dinosaur King' card game machine at the local swimming pool (which is in a holiday park in the village). He now wants me to give him lots of chores so he can make some money to spend in the machine.

Wishing you all plenty of pleasures and blessings x

Carolyntia I hope so to, it's horrible to feel the sword of Damocles is hanging over you. Will keep everything crossed it's your No 3.
zarazara why is something with such an unattractive name as lungwort so pretty? My daffys have still to open, I did read up on them and apparently they're late flowering but at this rate it'll be Summer before they bloom!
Thank you for the recipe elizabunny, it's very different to the ones I've tried so can't wait to test it out
Pleased your visit went well bunny too, and you like the results. Can't beat the colleges for hair and their student-run restaurant is pretty good too!
Ollie I loved doing Christmases, back in the days before elf an safety stopped us cooking raw meat. I usually had 15/20 for Christmas dinner, my ex and the children made it into as near a family day as we could for the tenants with nowhere else to go. My DM is in a scheme where they contact family out of hours, recently she pulled the cord at 12.30am as she heard the lady downstairs calling and CC told her to dial 999 . What did they think they were getting paid for? And she's 88 in sheltered herself so hardly her place to do it. I was livid as you can imagine, wrote to the housing manager and she got a letter of apology which I suppose was something but whatever happened to care?
jexy hope the cloud lightens soon and the silver lining appears
emilyka I spend far too long on MSE but you're right, it gives inspiration, plus some amusement and a lot of worthwhile tips to try out
Lol Ladyhawk, wish I was fighting fit but I'm prepping a buffet for 24 for Saturday plus I have to go and decorate the venue tomorrow (not sure how I'm going to get 25 helium inflated balloons in my little car and keep its tyres on the road:rotfl:) and I'm shattered already!
Katholicos rofl at your worm story, and your No 5, which does make sense of course. After reading it 3 times....;)

    my 5 -
    1. Another freebie Twinings lemon and ginger tea bag in the post, have put the m/o coupon in my purse for tomorrows shopping trip
    2. An horrific £49 mobile phone bill from my stay in Jersey, but in the same post a £50 refund from the IR. Phew!
    3. New washing machine is now plumbed in and the water back on so I had a longggggg shower this morning
    4. A chat on the phone with a pleasant enough man from a dating site, not my type but was nice to know I can still attract someone :o
    5. Feeling so tired I know I'm going to sleep all night, a real blessing as the next 48 hours are going to be manic

    Night night (((everybody))) sweet dreams

katholicos - worm story brightened my morning and your Body Shop spending logic makes perfect sense!

Having a not great couple of days as OH in hospital - it was a planned operation and a fairly simple procedure and he's doing fine, it's just not nice seeing the man you love all hooked up to lots of tubes and looking 'out of it'.
Going back at 2pm (when visiting starts) to bring him home.

    Anyway mine for yesterday

    1) While oh was having his operation his mum rang me and we had lunch together (we never spend time just the 2 of us so that was nice)
    2) when we got back to hospital he still hadn't come back to the ward so we went for a coffee (the hospital has a costa!!!!)
    3) have had lots of well wishes from friends and it's lovely to know they are all thinking about oh.

Only 3 but not bad given the circumstances.

    Happy Friday Everyone x

Good morning, everyone (I think it's morning). I've only had about an hours' sleep, so I'm not entirely on the ball yet. I'll get there. One cup of tea down, another to go!

Here are my five for yesterday:

    1) Getting a new kettle. The old one went bang on Saturday last week, and so we have been using the microwave all week to heat water. It's nice to not have to, and is one of those intelligent ones with lights on!
    2) Watching two LoveFilm thingies - first episodes of Season 2 of Lost and another movie with Denzel Washington in - what a good day in!
    3) The shopping bill coming to less than I thought it would, even factoring in a couple of luxuries!
    4) Finding some cellophane presentation bags in my favourite homeware shop so I can give cupcakes as gifts now. :)
    5) Getting the new catalogues from said shop and reading them avidly. If I were to put a star by everything I would like, my pen would run out!

Welcome to the new posters. It's good to see so many new faces counting their OSly blessings. (((big hugs))) to those that are down, facing uncertainty or are not well. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Hugs to Carolyntia and Jexy ((()))

    Welcome to all new posters!

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Delicious meal at Wagamamas with a friend - OK, not very moneysaving, but certainly a pleasure!

    2. Getting more good responses to Chapter 2 of my short story.

    3. Free glass of wine (very nice too) at an event I went to in the evening.

    4. Seeing someone who I'd not seen for years, at the same event.

    5. Yummy spicy pasta for lunch.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.
