JexI will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -
Pleasures for today:
-Spending a little extra time on MSE getting inspiration!
-Pasta for lunch (so much nicer- an cheaper- than a sandwich in the office)
-Having an evening without 'cooking', as lazy and unhealthy as it is I think it will be oven baked cod and chips tonight!
-Having a peruse on oxfam online
-watching my little seedies germinate!

Evening all.
Jexy - it's nice to know you're still around and reading, and I hope things pick up for you soon.
savingforoz - I hope the home for your fosterfelines works out as well as you hope. I think you're very brave, and very good, to foster animals - I don't think I could bear to part with them once I'd got to know them.
Here's my five for today:
1) NSD.
2) I was playing around on Google Streetview at lunchtime and located my parents' horse, at home in his field in the Isle of Wight. I don't know why that should make me so happy (where else would he be?), but it did.
3) Had a good laugh with my colleagues over an email I received - it was about a gentleman named Richard, known by a common abbreviation of the name, and was unfortunately worded so that it sounded like one of those spam emails you get about small blue pills! One of my colleagues was nearly falling off her chair by the time I'd finished reading it out.
4) We had a HUGE thunderstorm this afternoon. I know that's not everyone's idea of pleasure - a couple of my colleagues were clearly tempted to hide under their desks until it went away - but I loved it.(OK, maybe not in a thunderstorm!)
5) I got selected for a product trial of a new deoderant. It may not be the most exciting thing to sample, but I so rarely get picked for trials that I'm rather pleased anyway.
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Today's pleasures:-
1. The insurance estimator granted us exactly the same amount of money that we have spent on a replacement carpet after I had spilt coffee on it:T
2. The guest room in the sheltered accommodation where my aunt lived is free next week so we can stay overnight when we visit her. We will pay £15 instead of Travel Lodge prices.
3. Sowing some seeds in my new raised beds, peas, radishes, winter density lettuce and land cress so far. Can't wait for the harvest.
4. Visit to the optician revealed that I don't need to change either of my two pairs of glasses.
5. NOT buying the magazine I wanted, telling myself there is enough material on her to keep me more than happy. And it's free:T

Good evening all
CCP - I think I will do a bit at a time like you suggest if I do go ahead with it. I do tend to want to do it all at once (when i left college and got a job I couldnt decide if i wanted to go to uni or keep working and do evening classes so i took 2 evening classes at once so 3 evenings a week at college along with working full time!!!!)
Wssla00 - The last lot of seeds I planted died! As soon as these are a decent size they will be going outside where I can do less damage (hopefully)!!
Mine for today
1 Dh fixed my laptop :j Actually he made it better, the screen doesnt wobble anymore and it is alot faster!!! :T
2 Toddler group this morning was brilliant. Even got a smile out of one of the little girls who doesnt like any of us volunteers!!! :rotfl:And one of the mums gave me a pair of slippers and a pair of nike trainers for ds2 that look brand new!!!
3 Took dd to cooking (dh worked from home so ds2 stayed with him), so nice to spend one of one time with dd! And we made wraps (i have 1 for my lunch tomorrow in the fridge).
4 Went to family seal after picking up ds1 from school. We made chicks and bags of easter eggs and they let me do an extra one for ds2 so kids all had little eggs for dessert today.

Thats it for me. Got a sock zebra to make or shall I try the sock bunnies!!! Decisions decisions!!! :rotfl:0 -
Evening all
I'm sorry to say it's been a terrible day. I found out today that as of Tuesday my job will be 'at risk'. After another 30 days I'll find out if I still have one. I'm having trouble understanding it all as I'm rushed off my feet
Jexy - I hope you're ok
Sparrer - I hope that number three is me keeping my job
Well lets have a go and see what I come up with:
1) All the lovely texts from my friends when they found out about the job situation
2)The TYE telling me he's going to take me away for a weekend as I'm too stressed out
3) As well as the job in the Shetlands I've also applied for another one today
4) My back garden ducks sitting waiting for me to come home
5) Nice bit of gammon steak for dinner
6) Off to my mums tomorrow for a weekend of cat sitting.....I'm hoping for some lovely furry cuddles
Hope you all had a good day. Take care
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Evening all,
Hope you are all fighting fit.
I'm exhausted! Just got back from my conference in Telford and just want to go to sleep! It was surprisingly hard work... doing the same presentation 4x a day for 5 days is so draining (and boring!). By the last day we decided to all try to get the word "cappacino" into our presentations without laughing or giving the game away. Well it entertained us. I managed it twice... the delegates must have been really confused by all the presenters mentioning cappacino's the whole time!! The second time I managed to slip it in I caught the eye of our logistics director who was in on the game and we both very nearly dissolved into laughter but managed to keep it together.
So my pleasures for the last 5 days...
1) coming home tonight!!
2) Finding that my mum has send me easter presents... I'm looking forward to handing hers to her in person.
3) My presentations going really, really well and I didn't make a fool out of myself
4) Bonding with some new colleagues that I didn't really previously know. It also raised my profile with the senior management which can never hurt.
5) Playing ten pin bowling last night and being beaten by someone who wasn't even there!!! One of the Directors was late turning up so everyone else had a bowl for him... and he beat me!!
6) The big cappacino secret which provided hours of entertainment (I know it was childish but it was amusing!)
7) Flying home to see my parents tomorrow... this time tomorrow I will be in Cairo after completing the first leg of my journey.
Look after youselves
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Welcome fairylittle and emilyka
Carolyntia sorry to hear about your job being at risk
Thanks guys for the kind words
My five and a bit for today:
1) cranberry shredded wheat and tea in bed courtesy dp
2) cuddles from dd
3) nice Scottish colleague I don't see that often in the office today
4) sent off my CV for the other job, totally different skills required though so just 'throwing my hat in the ring'
5) Russell Howard on 'The One Show' tonight, looking forward to Russell Howards 'Good News' on tonight!
6) dd reading her two new school books without much help"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0
