Hi all, hope you've all had a good day.

    1. Sorted out pantry. I lurve having a pantry :-)

    2. Bought and erected (kind of) a 4 tier £10 plastic upright 'greenhouse'. Broke a couple of the joint thingies as i was assembling it, but fixed it all up ok eventually.

    3. Sectioned off a small area of the garden for my fruit and veg containers. Frugally cut open some of my spent compost bags and placed them, black side up all over the section of grass/moss on my so called 'lawn'. I edged it with some cheap wire border and then put my pots on the black stuff i had laid down. I'm well chuffed with it.

    4. Cheap tea, pasta and sauce with some home made bread and a couple of chicken roast burgers (packet of chicken style roast from approved food - about 10p per packet!).

    5. Dismantled one of my bird feeding stations as it was right next to my raised beds and i don't want the birds to be any more attracted to my fruit and veg if i can help it. I still have my other feeding station up and that one is placed near my lounge window so i can sit on the sofa and watch the birds enjoying themselves.

Ollie thanks for the well wishes for the pup - still haven't got a name for him yet, but have registered him at the vets, had to tell them to put him on the system as "puppy" as that's better than "no-name"!

MegsMum sorry to hear about your negatives but well done in finding some happy things too - I love chickens and they are so funny to watch when they are curious!!

katholicos loving all your garden ventures! I did quite a bit to mine a couple of weeks ago and now it's too wet to get out there :(

My 5 for today are -

    1) Took my students for parade and drill this morning (military college) and they were brilliant! I was so proud and they were all really grateful when I complimented them bless 'em!

    2) Have got quite a bit of marking done today which makes me feel less stressed

    3) I was bought lunch by a collegue which was nice as we never used to get on and now we do which makes life easier.

    4) Registered pup at the vets so lots of excitement there - his vaccinations are now booked for 2 weeks after we pick him up

    5) Enjoying a nice chilled evening at home with music, kind of planning lesson and just mooching around.

Oh, and 6) Going to cut OH's hair tonight and as he is on Easter leave after tonight he can have it in a bit of a mad mohican for 3 weeks as it'll be all grown back by the time his sergeant next sees it hehe!

Have a good evening all! x

    Evening all.

nuttybabe - yes, you can use Tesco clubcard vouchers for Open University courses - each £2.50 gets you £10 off the cost of the course. From 1st May, though, you will only be able to use the vouchers for level one courses - if this will be the first one you've done, though, I assume that will be OK? It might also be worth having a look at the OU's finance pages as they offer some very generous discounts - the last course I studied didn't cost me anything as they offered me such a big discount it cleared the entire cost of the cost. :money:

niksyg - congrats on your new puppy, and good luck with finding a name for him. I hope he doesn't get stuck as "Puppy" (although, actually, it's not a bad name :)).

Let's see if I can find five pleasures for today - I might struggle a bit as it's been such a dull sort of day.

    1) I found a top I really liked in a sale today, but decided that, even at sale price, it was more than I wanted to pay - so I just walked away and left it there. smileys.php%20target=_blank%3Esmiley-angelic004.gifsmiley-angelic004.gif

    2) Looking at old photos of Fratton Park (the Portsmouth FC ground) on the internet with colleagues at lunchtime and trying to work out when the photos were taken from what people were wearing.

    3) Ordered a voucher for a free carton of goat's milk, which I've been wanting to try for a while.

    Umm...

    4) HM garlic bread for dinner - I've made two lots so there will be one to go in the freezer for another day.

    5) A recurring pleasure, every time it rains - I'm no longer living in my old flat, where there was almost as much water inside as out on rainy days. smiley-sad029.gif

PS. - Ollie - thanks for the links to the smilies - my posts will be a lot more colourful from now on, I think! smiley-char023.gif

    5 for today!

    1) Got my car mended (again). I couldn't work out why the steering was so rubbish after the new suspension things were fitted the other week. Turns out a shock absorber needed doing too. The steering is so light and accurate now, its like driving a different car!

    2) Got to borrow the garage's spare car for the day. (It's only a little garage in a village).

    3) Worked at school all day where it is Science Week so had a particularly interesting day.

    4) Made a very cheating tea, feel quite embarrassed to tell you all it was just pasta (healthy, brown version, mind you), some mayonnaisse and some Sainsburys Basic smoked salmon trimmings. It was lovely and eaten by all!

    5) Brother has just popped round with my college homework that he printed out for me.

That's about it! Have not really been looking forward to college tomorrow. Last week we started our new module "Loss and Grief" and after it was pointed out that Loss didn't mean bereavement necessarily but had loads of different meanings (like after theft, divorce etc) I was on the verge of tears for the whole 3 hour session! But at least I feel organised now my homework is here and waiting and I've had a week to think about my losses and get used to the idea.

Just a short visit this evening. My 5 for today:

    1. Short day at work - left early to go to one of my favourite clients.

    2. Lunch with a former colleague. OK, the food choice at the pub was poor (no jacket potatoes? no sandwiches?) but it was good to see him again.

    3. Logging on and getting about 30 favourable (and no unfavourable) responses to Chapter 1 of my short story that I published online last night. Which was very nice! Me being me, I'm doing a rewrite of the end to see if that works better. Maybe one day it really will be finished!

    4. Good session at the gym this morning.

    5. Gizmo's weepy eye looking much better, despite the fact that he's not a willing recipient of his twice-daily squirt of ointment that I have to put in there!
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

    Evening everyone,

Acey - I hope college goes well for you tomorrow, you have had a lot to deal with recently and are coping brilliantly.

    Mine for today:
    1. Pair of trousers in the sale today for £3.25.
    2. Free lego with a 45p newspaper. Will go away in the present drawer for a christmas stocking filler
    3. Lovely shepherds pie for dinner using up lamb mince from freezer. I swear my freezer is a tardis.
    4. Made some lemon cupcakes and twinks tonight while oven was on
    5. DD has made her own lunch for tomorrow so one less thing for me to do tomorrow morning:T. She is on a TV ban at the moment so is bored which is why she is being super helpful this week. May have to ground her more often:rotfl:

Hugs to all who need them

Acey your car sounds like ours ......4 time in the garage so far this year and bills now over £1700:eek: This includes £175 today because of a broken spring which went this morning and sound like the whole car was falling apart. I put it down to the potholes:(

There have been a few blessings though.

    1) The broken spring apparently nearly ruptured the brake pipe, which could have had dreadful consequences. So we had someone's prayers.

    2) Cleaned out the fridge freezer in the kitchen and defrosted it. It should run more economically now and I found things I had forgotton about in the freezer drawers.

    3) Had my hair cut, not too MS, but a nice treat now and again and they do give me free tea or coffee which was very welcome today.

    4) Finally sorted out some paperwork which was really getting on my nerves.

    5) Had two lovely phone calls with DS1 & DS2. Then lost the stylus thingy out of my mobile phone, but eventually found it under the sofa:)

What a lovely community this is, always makes me feel more positive reading your posts and thinking of my blessings.

Not smug Bella, just very grateful, like me, for all the blessings we have to be thankful for. You cleaned your cooker? Oh dear, now I'm really embarrassed :o. Won't tell you how long it is since I did mine
Ollie we worked 10 days in 14, alternate w/ends and 3 nights a week on call. Our C/Centre covered an 80 mile radius so mobiles were all over the place at night. B/holidays off? Unheard of, as was spending any time in my own bungalow during working hours :(. I was one of 2 schemes which shared a very large plot of land, and the mobile. It worked beautifully when we had joint events, trips etc and were the envy of other schemes as we had outdoor space for picnics, table top fairs etc. They were good times...Re your No 3, I thought that's what you did anyway ;)
wssla00 I love my Panny, it's on most days. Mind you the family and my neighbour benefit from it almost as much as I do :D
bunny too I go to my local college since I had my long hair all chopped off last Autumn. Not had a cut I wasn't pleased with yet (they only let 3rd years loose with scissors) and all the girls are so chatty and friendly. I thought the client confided in the stylist, with the kids there it's the other way around! :D
Caterina I love hot cross buns , how lovely to get some early, and free! I can't wait for Easter when I shall make a pig of myself :o
Bonty congrats on your DS2 for his swimming, 3 meters is quite an achievement :T. I can only swim in a straight line - from top to bottom :rotfl:
Blimus I envy you, I'd love a step (especially the Wii one) I go to my DD to use hers but not the same as having one at home
jollymummy thanks for the link to your blog, it's a work of art the way you've links the pictures to the comments like telling a story. I could read it all night :D
Kitchen bunny would love to see you in your bunny ears as you tap away at the puter ;)
nuttybabe you popped into flylady and got your housework done? Do they do it for you then, cos if so I might just pop along too :p
katholicos I wish I had the garden space for even half of the planting you and the others do, my excuse for a garden is 18x24 feet. Perhaps I'll dig up the lawn
CCP hope you feel better very soon. When I had my last cold I ran out of lemon drinks and had a freebie Twinings lemon and ginger. It was delicious and very comforting, so now I have a box in the cupboard. Trouble is I keep drinking it :o
niksyg congrats on your new baby, he'll bring you years of love and loyalty :A Can't wait to hear what you'll name him
GirlySquare glad you sorted out your colleague, he only backchatted to cover his embarrassment of being found in the wrong. You stand your ground :D
Carolyntia things are said to come in threes, hope your next windfall will will be a good one :)
savingforoz, awww you'll miss the fosterbabies :(, I hope their new home is as good as the one you've given them
Kittikins I'm envious and I don't even know your friends!
Rummer I like your simple pleasures, aren't they just the best sort? :D
    Tealady please explain ironing? ;)
elizabunny please may we have the recipe for the tagine? None of the ones I've tried turn out like the ones I had in Morocco :(
ACEY your 5th has to be the weather, the quiet and no catastrophies - which is 3 more :T
Westy lol at the bumb bumb bumb...there are three teens next door and there are times when my being a bit mutt n jeff is quite an advantage . Funny how it's much quieter when their Mum and Dad are home..
will catch up with the other posts to but eyes are drooping because of the day I've had..
    1. Woke at 7am and had to let the pets out so didn't bother to go back to bed. All the windows and doors open to let in the lovely fresh morning.
    2. Shopping for Saturdays buffet, got lots of bargains in Mr M so still well in budget. Just the fresh to collect on Friday
    3. To save money I unplumbed the washing machine as the new one arrives tomorrow. I've just spent most of this evening drying everything from the ceiling down as the blue tap broke off so I had to rush across to the cupboard to turn the water off at the stop !!!!. Ah well, at least the kitchen has now had its Spring clean :D
    4. Groomed all 3 animals out in the sunshine. They're now smooth as silk, I'm now mohair :rotfl:
    5. Being tired. That sounds odd but I'm so often wide awake at 2or 3am and would love to sleep all night, which is exactly what I'm going to try to do now, so
    night night (((everybody))) sweet dreams
