    1. Got through the (much hated chore of) ironing...it took 1.5 hours, but i don't do it very often. I've tried little and often but my physiological make up is not conducive to it.

    2. Prepared 2 x 70 litre size pots with drainage and a bit o compost and then put in my 2 varieties of chitted potatoes.

    3. Sowed my pea seeds, just 30 to start off with, i can do more as i go along.

    4. Made Quorn sweet and sour for tea, i'm not veggie, but this works out a cheap family meal for us as i only buy Quorn when it is on offer.

    5. Crocheted a couple more rows on my 300 stitch blanket/bedspread to be.

    Evening all.

I'm glad I'm doing this online rather than face-to-face as the soaking I got on Saturday has left me with a nasty cough that's been annoying my work colleagues (and me) all day. At least on here I'm not annoying anyone - in cyberspace, no-one can hear you cough. ;)

katholicos - well done on your seed bargains - I hope you got some good things to grow.

Acey - I'm growing (deep breath) - asters, snapdragons, echinacea (coneflowers), two types of nasturtiums and three types of ornamental grasses (which I found at the bottom of the bag of seeds and thought I might as well throw in), onions, peppers, purple sprouting broccoli, peas, two types of tomatoes and some Greek basil. Still to go in are dahlias, more nasturtiums, pansies for next winter, two types of lettuce, land cress, spinach, chard, radishes, possibly some carrots, garlic, thyme, chives, plus another (special) tomato plant and some potatoes from my dad. My garden is about the size of half a tennis court - goodness knows where I'm going to put that lot. Do you think I got a bit carried away? :o

Ollie - the ploughman's sausage rolls turned out very nicely, thank you. They taste very much like the shop-bought ones I was trying to recreate, and are marginally cheaper (about 80p each for HM, £1 each for bought) and far more fun. :) I'll be doing them again when I've eaten this batch.

Bella - don't worry, you don't come across as smug at all. I think that's what this thread is all about - remembering to be grateful for what you've got. :)

wssla00 - I'm glad your chicken plan is going well, and lol at the idea of taking one for a walk! If you do decide to try it, please take some photos as I'd love to see a chicken on a lead. :rotfl:

bunny too - happy birthday to your DS, and I'm glad he had a lovely party.

Caterina - it sounds like you've had a lovely couple of days. Good luck to your DD on her university application.

Kitchenbunny - hooray for your first daffodil! Mine had almost recovered from Saturday's rain by this morning, but I bet they're all flat again now. :(

nuttybabe - I've just popped on to your blog and I love all your creations. I admit I've been trying to avoid visiting as I just end up wanting all your creations - I'm not usually into pink things but I really love the sparkly cat!

    My five pleasures for today:

    1) I had a decent night's sleep last night. I often sleep badly after the Sunday night quiz (I think my brain gets too active :o), so it was nice to wake up this morning having not spent the night tossing and turning.

    2) I picked up a dwarf rhodedendron on the RTC section in Wilkinsons which will go perfectly in the snail shell-shaped pot I picked up in the sales. (That's rather allierative, isn't it? It wasn't intentional, but it sounds rather nice anyway! :))

    3) Received some more Tesco vouchers in the post which I wasn't expecting - that's another £20 off my OU course. :j

    4) A very carniverous pleasure - veggies please skip this one: following my dad's instructions, I successfully jointed the rabbit I bought yesterday. It's not the neatest bit of butchery the world has ever seen, but it's not bad at all for a first attempt.

    5) Sausage and baked bean casserole for dinner tonight. :) It was my favourite meal when I was a kid, and its appearance on my mealplan usually indicates I'm miserable, ill, stressed, or all three. :( S&BB casserole will cheer me up, though. :D

    Have a nice evening, everyone.
Back after a very long break!
