    1. Once again i failed to manage an NSD but i did make some savvy purchases. I ordered some seeds form Suttons using the £5 off a £10 spend discount code (in the MSE code forum)...i only had to pay a bit towards the cost of the seeds and the .95p P&P. I made two separate orders actually. Yesterday i did the same with T & M using the £5 of codes they send me and DD....not that DD has the slightest interest in gardening....i subscribed to their catalogue in her name since she eats everything i make, bake and grow!

    2. Made 7lbs of marmalade using marmade.

    3. Pottered around the patio trying to figured out how i want things arranged when i plant out. Was pleased to see some signs of life in a big tub i had literally thrown the upturned contents of a propogator that i thought had failed to bring forth life. I shall keep a keen eye on it now...maybe i will get me some carrots afterall.

    4. Done a couple of rows on my crocheted blanket (it's 300 stitches in width).

    5. Sorted my two bird stations out...filled the bird feeders with home made fat balls, bird nuts, seed and fresh water.

Good evening everybody - beautiful day yesterday and today started off quite pleasant too - THEN the rain kicked in late afternoon and it hasn't stopped since. Thanks for the congrats on my award vouchers .

sparrer - the danish pastries were cut into halves lol - I'm lucky that we don't have to work weekend any more. Up to Jan 2007, when we were moving into this new Scheme, I had a Deputy, and weekends were always covered. Once we moved she was transferred into her own scheme as she wanted full-time employment - didn't last very long and then transferred to a 'less demanding' position :rotfl:. We have a Central Control Service that covers weekends, bank hols, annual leave and sick leave (what's that ;)). wd on getting up-do-date with your laundry and on managing to keep the c/h off for 3 days.
Ladyhawk - shame you and kiwiboy weren't feeling up to meeting again, BUT maybe better when you're both not quite so frazzled. I'm sure the champers in the bath MORE than made up for any disappointment you were feeling. Hope the Telford conference goes well for you.
Tealady - wd on your pampering day - great for the old morale, but I'm not sure I'd like to sit in the middle of the shopping centre to have my eyebrows done - you're braver than I'd be .
CCP - I'm sure the danishes were because our Chief Exec was doing the presentations ;). Shame the NT property wasn't all that interesting AND that you got cold and wet as well. lol at the popping daffs :rotfl:. how lovely to find the violets by your shed - wonder if the birds had eaten some seeds from a plant and then 'planted' them - as they do ;). how did the ploughman's sausage rolls go?
Kitchenbunny - HScyboie_glitters.gif for you - it happens to us all at some point - just need to get back into the swing of things again. wd on getting so much done in one day - lot's accomplished :T.
Kittikins - wd on your freecycle stuff for DD - their kids clothes are good and survive lots of washing as well, unlike some cheaper stuff. lol at you trying to grind cardamom seeds while feeling f_hangover.gif - no wonder you needed a lie-down in the afternoon ;). wd on the cinnamon/cardamom buns :j. What a great Sunday with your DD and friends.
nuttybabe - wd on using a rainy day to keep the kids amused with veggie choosing and planting :T. AND on getting them to help dig the garden over for planting when seelings are ready to go in the ground.
ACEY - omg - how awful for your sons to have him come out with such a crass statement to them. How supervised is 'supervised' for that to have been done? I hope you speak to your solicitor and get him/her to get in touch with the SW and Family Contact Centre about it. Things like that are NOT in your boys' best interests - he's manipulating their feelings with his 'poor me' attitude. wd on YOUR activities with the boys - they are so lucky that they have such a loving, caring mother who puts them first all the time. wd on having such a great sunday with the two young men in your life - THOSE are the times that they'll remember for the rest of their lives, great days with their mum and people who love them. That place in Renovation Man isn't far from me, but I've never even noticed it.
bella - your Saturday sounds like a great Family Day at your church - wd on having such an active community to be a part of.
Caterina - congrats on your 2nd Prize at the Quiz :T - sounds like a great fun evening but such a shame about dd's b/f. how lovely for you and oz to be able to get together for lunch .
jexygirl - love the rhyme :rotfl:.
wssla00 - sorry you couldn't think of any pleasures for Saturday - HSarmhugs_9780.gif for you.
niksyg - what a lovely day you had with your OH .
GirlySquare - wd on your BOGOF brekkie :T - and great that DD realised that she had something to need to apologise for.
Megs mum - lol at your OH's antics while you were 'chasing your tail' getting ready for guests - typical male. wd on your village circuit run :j.
savingforoz - sounds like you and Caterina had a great lunch and how lovely to be able to catch up with your friends while visiting London.
Rummer - that is the ideal way to spend a Sunday - visiting family and spending time relaxing with your OH and pets.
Carolynita - wtg on a great off-shore trip - sound like a good group of boys.
katholicos - what a brilliant day in the garden and wtg on your discount codes for Suttons and T&M :j.

I'm going to leave my own till the morning - been a busy day here and I'm needing my own bed right now.

Hope everybody has a good night's sleep - nitey nite all - love Ollie xxx.

Thought about giving it a miss today as it's just been another boring Sunday but on reflection -

    1. Having watched Sports Relief I thank the powers that be that my children don't have to sleep in the street, at risk of God only knows what
    2. The only food queuing I do is at the butcher, supermarket, baker, market stalls and so on
    3. I don't have to beg on the streets for pennies to feed myself..
    4. I have shoes. Not only shoes but boots, wellies, garden clogs, sandals, slippers....
    5. I'm not at risk of malaria, or any other disease, by drinking foul water
    6. When I worked I went in my car, to a nice clean office, not on a rubbish dump
    7. It's been a really beautiful day and I have the appropriate clothes to wear whatever the weather
It may have been a boring day buy I've certainly got some blessings to count tonight

    Night night (((everybody))) sleep well

  • I just wanted to say that since I've been a member of MSE, this is the most friendliest & most welcoming thread I've ever read!!

I've not seen any bickering or arguing, just people supporting each other which is so heart warming!

I think you all deserve a lovely day today, and a pat on the back. :D

Thanks for all the support, everyone. Slowly but surely I'll get there. :)

    Here's mine for yesterday:

    1) Going for a nice bike ride, then having a drink in the park. Beautiful sunshine yesterday.
    2) Having a day free from cooking. We didn't eat all of the pie on Saturday, so we had it for last night's tea with some oven wedges (hardly cooking at all - the oven did it). A nice break for me.
    3) Seeing some friends I'd not seen for ages. Always nice.
    4) Making a shopping list with a view to stick to it.
    5) Doing a little bit more cleaning.

Take care everyone, and have a good day

Hi All - Just a quickie to start the week nicely (I hope). I agree with Westy that this is a fab thread - I had a scan round a few others (looking for info on environmental energy issues) and found them all bickering and SHOUTING - Hmmm wonder if its significant that the ppl posting were male?
Anyway trying to be very positive (didnt have a great evening yesterday but not going to dwell but rather try to understand it and thenwork my way out of it. Sorry to be obtuse) So
    1. Birdsong when I walked up to let the hens out
    2. Organic oatmeal for b/fast
    3. Waggly tails saying good morning (even tail belonging to naughty cheese licker ..)
    4. Found my inner Samual L Jackson list written on my kitchen table pad and will use it to get myself going this morning. Decide, commit, plan, practice and stick to it.Used it in advice to bf yesterday and now need to follow my own advice.
    5. Ummm scraping the barrel now - Oh - found a free packet of seeds under the clutter on the kitchen table so will plant some which will take me to the greenhouse which will gee me up a bit.

All I am going to say is Grrrrrr!!!!!!! men. And I am pretty sure he is oblivious...

    Oh well.

I am surrounded at the moment by people with problems/illness - a young friend suffering the after effects of a motor accident nearly 3 months on, still in severe pain with not much hope in sight. He's married with a two year old. A friend in his 70's who lost his wife 20 years ago and never came to terms with it, now has severe depressive illness. My dear 90 year old aunt in hospital after breaking her tib and fib not knowing what the future holds.

All this has made me count my blessings.

    1. DH and I are reasonably healthy and able to get about.

    2. We have two healthy adult children both good citizens and both with a good living to support them.

    3. DD has two healthy children who bring much pleasure to our lives.

    4. Although retired we are comfortable if careful.

    5. We have a belief in the Bible and a strong faith to see us through.

I hope this doesn't all sound rather smug, I am just so grateful for it all.

    Bella.

Morning everybody - very dull morning here at the moment, but we'll have to see what the rest of the day brings us :).

sparrer - I didn't get a chance to see any of the Sport Relief coverage, but I know it's very humbling when you see all that poverty and deprivation - definitely makes us count our blessings over and over again.
westy - hear, hear :T - I think that's true for the 'Old Style' board in general. I once ventured into the 'MoneySavers Arms' , offered my two-penn'orth and got my nose sniped at :(. Decided, there and then, that it was definitely NOT the place for me fear.gif.
Kitchenbunny - YOUR Sunday sounds brilliant :j. I do wish I'd learned to ride a bike properly - I'm sure the world can be appreciated far better from a bike than from a car or walking. I learned to ride at the age of 40 - when my kids taught me to ride my DS1's man's racer, but I never developed the confidence to ride on roads. I learned to drive a car around the age of 45 but never passed my test - again partly due to lack of practice/confidence and partly to being rubbish at reverse parking/reversing round corners :o. Nobody to practice with between lessons either :(. A bit of bike riding might also have been useful to keep me fitter than I am.
Megs mum - sounds as though you need some HS1bouncing.gifafter yesterday - some men just can't recognise 'what's wrong' or a 'problem' even when it's jumping up and biting 'em on the bum. All depends on how major the problem is though as to how we deal with it - hope yours is just one of those that you can smiley-rolleyes010.gif at and then laugh off. Birdsong, hens and tail-waggers (even naughty ones) sound delightful to me :T.
bella - I don't think you come across as smug at all - more like a lady who can see suffering around her, can feel the pain of others and is extremely grateful for the blessings that she experiences in her own life.

    Mine for the weekend:

    1. Trip to Asda for whoopsie hunting - found a few with my name on them. 2 ES Lemon Curd Yoghurts (58p/24p); 2 Bread Torpedos (67p/10p); 2 Carrot and Pumpkin Rolls (67p/20p); Hovis Seeded Granary (£1.00/45p); ES Yellow plum toms (£1.34/33p); Vine tomatoes (£1.68/10p); S&K Pukka pie (£1.45/RB £1.00/30p); Stuffed Trout (£2.38/80p); Prawn Mayo sandwich (30p); Tuna & Cucumber sandwich (30p). The carrot and pumpkin seed rolls went very nicely with my home-made Root Veg Soup for evening meal with the sandwiches for supper.

Edited to add: 3 bags of parsnips total weight of 1kg at 5p per kg; and - nice cup of coffee and scone in Asda cafe and 'handsome young man behind the counter' told his colleague that I was his favourite customer :o:o:o - I'd give him a good run for his money if I was [STRIKE]10[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]30[/STRIKE] - oh alright then 35yrs younger :rotfl:. Just read that bit back and it sounds  - but I'm sure you all know what I mean ;).

    2. Had a lovely chat with vicar's wife, who I hadn't seen for a very long time, since I left their parish - caught up with lots of family news from her.

    3. Met up with one of my ex-colleagues who retired about 3yrs ago - she's now looking after her grandchildren during the day while her daughter goes to work - I can see what lies ahead for me when I retire lol.

    4. Had a crazy clean-up and furniture swap around yesterday - we now have to get used to the 'new layout'.

    5. Enjoyed Dancing on Ice last night - great to see Hayley back to the top of the leaderboard again.

    6. Got my mid-year Competency Review tomorrow which means my Line Manager has to come here to do it - so need to finish off the tidying up and get a Lemon Drizzle Cake baked sometime today.

Will get off for a shower and start work now. speak again later - love Ollie xxx
