5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

AWOL again I'm afraid, so sorry. Life has been rather hectic over the past week or so what with DMs 88th Birthday , Our Coral Anniversary, Mothers Day, St Patricks Day Dinner Party etc. So many blessings and too many to list. but here goes,
1) Really lovely days on all the above occasions and felt very pampered on Mother's Day by our two grown up sons, their partners and DH.
2) Have spent several sunny days in the garden planting seeds and sorting out the raised beds and DH built me a lovely raised herb bed, which I am thrilled with.
3) Switched on the pond pump for the first time this year and fed the fish which look very healthy and the pond has loads of new frogs spawn in it today, so I feel I'm doing my bit to keep the frog population going.
4) Lovely mega long chat with DS2 today about cooking (he loves cooking when he has the time) and gardening. Think he's planning to grow his own this year. Hopefully I was able to give some useful tips and it's nice to be asked my opinion.
5) Finally finished sewing all name lables on the new clothes DM had for her birthday. I found her a lovely lilac bedjacket too at the weekend which is perfect for her as she spends so much time in bed and I know people don't use them so much now, but it looked very sweet and I knew she would love it. I was rewarded with a lovely smile when I gave it to her today.
6) Sorry can I have 6. I just remembered the Lamb Tagine I made for dinner tonight, It was really lovely and DH enjoyed so much I have to put it on the menu again soon
Hope eveyone else is doing ok. So sorry I haven't been able to keep up with all your lovely posts. We still have DHs Uncles's funeral to go to on Wednesday as it was delayed, so I will be glad when we have that behind us. I just hope it doesn't rain.
I will try to catch up on some posts. Bye for now.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

5 for today!
1) Tidied up downstairs. This will be the last fire today as I have run out of logs and haven't the heart to order a fourth tonne! So hoping for warm weather otherwise I shall have to put the storage heaters on.
2) Took my car in to the garage (again). I thought there was something terrible wrong with it but it "just" needs a new shock absorber. They can do it tomorrow and they will let me borrow their car.
3) Made sausages, beans and chips for tea, proper comfort food and just what we wanted.
4) My dad babysat and I went to the PTA quiz with my brother and his friend. We came 4th (out of 9 teams) but if we had found a fourth person to go in our team, and he/she had been over 40 and known some of the tunes in the music round, we might have done better!
Can't think of a 5) which is a shame because its been a good day here, sunny, bright and quiet with no catastrophes!

I've had a nice day today...

5. OH is on nights so I've borrowed his pc whilst my lap top is being repaired. (Thank you ).Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker0 -
Good evening all  - wow what a difference in the weather today - really heavy hailstones around teatime - didn't half rattle the windows .
wssla00 - wd on your 'freegle-ing' and wtg on getting a new panny :j. Hope your plan for getting some hens works out and, personally speaking, I don't see anything wrong with taking one of them for a walk. I use Hysterisisters for lots of smilies - never did find out the correct way to do them but the following works for me. Choose your smiley - right click on it and then left click on 'properties' - select and highlight 'address' - right click and copy the address. Go back to where you want to put the smiley, left click on the 'insert image' (looks like a mini postcard), go to the little box and paste your link into it. Close the box and your selected image should appear in your post.
bunny too - good luck for tomorrow with your hairdo. Hope you and the tail-wagger enjoyed your walkies.
Caterina - wd to you and LilacLillie on your freebie day at the Vitality Show followed by your evening spent tripping the light fantastic with your lovely OH - then finishing the evening off in true OS by coming home on the bus :T.
sparrer and wssla00 - here's another smiley site: http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php and another: http://smileys.on-my-web.com/
bonty44 - sorry to hear you've been having comp probs - temperatmental things when we decide to move them. wd to your ds on his
.
Blimus - wd to you on passing on your dishwasher to somebody who can use it :T. Good to hear about kids who enjoy activities like yours do.
jollymummy - well done on your walk with OH and ds - just spent a great few minutes reading your blog and listening to The Waterboys :T.
Kitchenbunny - isn't it strange how something as simple as a 'marble' can evoke wonderful memories of childhood - we used to calle them 'stonkies'.
nuttybabe - Great baking session AND crocheting as well - busy girl :T.
katholicos - aaaargh - the dreaded- stuff of nightmares! wtg on getting your potatoes planted :T.
CCP - wd on your ploughman's sausage rolls turning out so well :j - wd on jointing your own rabbit. One of the foods I can't bring myself to eat. I am constantly reminded (by my mum) that I used to enjoy it, BUT,unfortunately, it was on the menu on the day that my pet rabbit died and could never bring myself to eat it since.
niksyg - wd on choosing your new lab puppy - hope you have a great time getting used to each other.
GirlySquare - wtg on your bargain Turkey Crown :T.
bella - wd to your OH for all his hard work in filling up the raised beds with topsoil :T.
Carolynita - hey a work bonus AND a cheque from the Premium Bonds :j - you'd better make sure you get your lottery ticket this weekend. lol at the North Sea [STRIKE]Tigers[/STRIKE] Kitty-cats :rotfl:.
savingforoz - :T on posting Chapter One, on the website - what's next???
Kittikins - Great news about your Sky+ :j. Shame about DD's tooth - but as you say, I'm sure the tooth fairy won't mind one bit.
Rummer - wd on a great day - good to make good use of the sunshine IF you have some.
Tealady - wd on continuing your 'use it up' campain and good luck to your DD with her college placement application.
elizabunny - what a great time you've been having recently, despite what happened with your OH's uncle. wd you on sorting all your mum's name tapes in her new clothes (that was one of my jobs when I worked nights in a Residential Home). I was watching an episode of 'Waiting for God' earlier and in that Diana was wearing something like an embroidered pashmina while sitting in bed - it looked lovely too.
ACEY - wd on making your logs last until now :j - and wtg on your Quiz Evening but what a pity about the music round.
Westy - so much in agreement with you about 'today's music' - why, oh why does it have to be so loud and 'rhythmic'??? My mother used to complain about me listening to folk music (Donovan) in the 60's - no idea why, as his music was so gentle/soothing - don't know what she would have said if I'd been a Stones or Who fan :rotfl:.
Going to leave my own until tomorrow morning - need my bed right now. Nitey nite all - love Ollie xxx0 -
1 - making HM butternut squash soup in slow cooker - yumm
2 - catching up with corrie and emmerdale

Have a great day:) HE x0 -
Good Morning Everyone - Have just had a nice few minutes reading all your posts. Wow what an active lot you/we are : gardening, cooking, walking.
Now about ironing: I used to hate it when I never got time to do it properly and had a horrid old iron and rubbish board. But I used a good steam iron (not super expensive but efficient) and what a difference ... so I replaced the ironing board, got an airer and set aside time to do it, and then PUT IT AWAY. And now I actually look forward to ironing - love the feel of ironed clothes (mmmm sheets too) and use starch on linen (you know napkins etc). I know if you have lots of mens shirts it can be a pain but I plan to iron when theres a good play on the radio etc and its very satisfying.
Didnt have a great day yesterday and can genuinly not think of 5 pleasures - actually very annoyed by
1.bank "staff" - weraing T shirts and looking more like cheap promo girls at a show!
2. Shop assistants being useless (where does the word assistant come from in this...)
3. Rubbish drivers
4. People who got a dog (3 doors down fr us) who dont care that it constantly gets out (danger to itself, others on the road and pooping in the road)
5. Significan Other who just cant say Sorry.
Grrrrr - OK thats it. Draw a line. I'm done. Move on.
1. Sunshine
2. Frost
3. Sunshine on frost
4. Hens all trying to squeeze out of the pop-hole at once to inspect the sunny frost.
5. Waggly-tails paw prints in the frost on the bridge in the sunshine
And all this before 6am!!

2 - Trip to the market and supermarket, found a good few bargains including plums that I am going to turn into jam.
3 - M&S card sent me a voucher for a free gift, I got a new red purse. Very nice!
4 - DD prepared a lovely lunch by stretching last night leftover soup with more veg and pasta.
5 - Tonight I am going to the opera with DH (L'Elisir d'Amore by Donizetti). Have already printed the 2 for 1 main meal for our dinners!
Have a great evening everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hello everyone
CCP - Thanks, i really appreciate it. that sparkly cat caused a bit of a debate with my parents. Dad thought it was a mouse!! :rotfl: did I read your post right - can tesco clubcard vouchers be used for open university course? I really want to do one and just cant afford it but if i can save my vouchers, maybe i should go shopping there more often!!! Maybe when i have saved up for one I might actually have the time to do it!!!
House elf - did the gloop work alright? my first lot didnt clean everything (3 very mucky kids) so i amended it and except for ds2's very very very muddy jeans at the weekend it seems to clean really well even my spag bol that shop bought stuff wouldnt touch. i also use it in the dishwasher (but not every time as it leaves stuff a bit dull!!) I got my friend making it and I even braved telling dh about it yesterday, he looked most unpleased until i said how long i had been using it for without him knowing!!!
Mine for today:
1 Leaving for school on time as ds1 ate all his breakfast and got changed really quick! :T
2 Cleaning the kitchen and dinning room (tomorrows flylady)
3 Did a bit of cleaning in my bedroom (seriously neglected room and dumping site so anything done in there is a bonus!!)
4 Getting a free jordans cereal bar through the post
5 ALL the kids wanted my home made cottage pie for tea!! Even dd  although I doubt she will eat it all!! So quick and easy tea out of the freezer!
Edited to say: SHE ATE IT ALL!!!!!!!!! First time ever!!!! whoo hoo!!!!!!!!!!
Best go dish up!! Have a good evening everyone.0
